I love the comfy seating. Great drinks, and I love how to bartenders kept walking out to where we sat to make sure we were good. :) also plus for having Guinness on tap!

I stay at the Hilton about 6 nights a month for work and although I'm very bored with the menu their selection is wonderful.

In the past 6 months you figure I've eaten here about 15 times so I've tried just about everything.
Morrocan Chicken- very good, nothing fancy, but tasty
    Rockfish- Delicious
Pastrami Sliders- fun, tasty and unique twist to sliders
    Steak Frites- always delicious
Buffalo Wings- not amazing, but good
    Crab Bisque- always a filler
Rooks Corner Salad- fancy mix of blueberries and walnuts on greens. Fun and healthy.

The service is always VERY friendly, although my order isn't always correct they're happy to fix it.

I will continue to eat here, just hopeful they'll change their menu soon.

My husband son and I stayed at this Hilton May 15th through the 19th of this year. My husband is a consultant and travels every week for work and chose the Hilton for it's good track record. While he was working one day I ordered room service; my son was only 9 weeks old at the time and it was more work to go out for lunch versus staying in. It was peek lunch time right around 12:30 when I ordered the ceaser salad with chicken, extra dressing on the side. The food arrived within about 20 mintues, and I was surprised at the speed. I started to eat the salad, and every bite was great to the taste.. until I turned over a crouton only to find a HUGE BUG doused in ceasar dressing. Disgusted I spit out what was in mouth and brushed my teeth. Horrified I pressed the room service button and asked for the manager. I told him about the bug and within 5 minutes he was at the room door. He saw the plate and gasped. He apologized repeatedly and told me would not only erase the room charge but comp the night's stay. Leaving the room with tray in hand he asked if I wanted another salad, fighting back a deluge of profanity I have been waiting my whole life to use I politely declined. By the next morning when we checked the folio on the tv.. no charges had been adjusted.

I recently attended a conference at the Hilton in Gaithersburg and lunch was served at the Rooks Corner restaurant.  I have to give these folks lots of credit for rolling with a theme.  Among some nice red chairs, wood furniture and a large layout were chess sets and large chess pieces.  The decor was elegant yet playful at the same time and I appreciated that.

There is a large main seating area, mostly with tables set up for two to four people (they can be put together for larger parties).  Off to the side I noticed a private room with glass doors that can be closed - nice touch!

The hosts were very friendly and seated my party quickly.  We were there for the lunch buffet so while the waitress poured our drinks, we went to find a nice large salad table (complete with mixed greens, romaine, cucumbers, tomatoes, cole slaw, potato salad, chick peas and more) and then an entree section with mashed potato, pasta, chicken and pork.  At a nearby table were several desserts including chocolate cake and cheesecake.

    I picked a variety of food.  Here's a breakdown:

Chicken breast: moist for sure, but not particularly flavorful.
Pork: Tender and full of flavor.
    Cole slaw: Okay, not great.
Potato salad: Very tasty with tender potato chunks.
Salad greens and veggies: Crisp, fresh and tasty.
Chick peas: Prepared with spices and olives, fantastic!
Apple pie: Super tasty with a lovely crust.

Overall, it was good for a "hotel lunch" but nothing blew me away.  Still, for $15 "all you can eat", it's a great deal if you're staying in the area.

    CRAB BISQUE!

I just cannot get enough of this wonderful soup!!

I already did a review for the lounge and the soup, but have to make sure everyone knows about it!

I only enjoyed lunch in the restaurant and the let me do soup and salad - and get the bisque and the tomato mozzarella salald. What a wonderful meal!

Staff was very friendly and helpful.

There was also a buffet, but it was a late lunch and they were about to take it away.

Cute location, fun seating and decoration. Pricey of course, but hey, you're on vacation right?

My wife and I love their Sunday buffet. The staff is GREAT! Our first time there we didn't know when they closed the buffet. We arrived at 1:25p for a buffet that ended at 1:30p. No problem. The staff let us enjoy the full buffet including the chef cooking omelets. They did not take down the buffet until they asked us if we were done. All of this and we were the only people there! This is our new breakfast spot!

Great service trumps the goofy chess theme of Rooks Corner. It seemed slighly outdated to have a round couch centerpiece in the middle of the room. And my eyes were playing trick on me from all the references to squares on a chessboard.

My nighttime service was excellent! Morning buffet service was as well! Food was good for the value. No need to step out of the hotel.

Rooks Corner Bar & Lounge continues the extensive branding of "Rooks" at the Gaithersburg Hilton. I suppose it's a good thing they named everything for a Chess piece instead of Checkers - I can't imagine what that would feel and sound like - not very elegant! :-)

Anyway, I was in need of some alcohol-based sustenance after a long day. I headed down to the Bar & Lounge and grabbed myself a seat at the Bar and ordered one my faves - a mouth-watering, vodka martini, shaken, extra-cold, dirty, with an extra olive, made with Ketel 1.

Talk about delicious! Very well done. I drank the drink way to fast - it was just soooooo damn good!

Then I committed a faux pas, I turned to talk to the guy next to me, and as I was reaching out to shake his hand - I smacked my empty martini glass and broke it all over the bar! How embarrassing!

I bought the guy next to me a drink - on the off chance that somehow there might have been a glass splinter in his drink. I then ordered a Bloody Mary - made with Stolichnaya vodka. Another winner! The bartender made an outstanding drink. I was seriously thinking about another - but thought better of it - I had ripped through two drinks in very little time and could already feel a buzz coming on.

Great drinks, nice ambiance for a hotel lounge, a couple of large screen High Def TVs (I did not watch them), and a fantastic bartender!
