As I stood here on New Year's Eve watching a metal band that should have been left behind in the 1980s, my only thought was: What the hell am I doing here?
Route 46 is a generic entertainment complex designed for older folks who've left the kids at home with a babysitter. I sensed a rock vibe here, as we saw an overabundance of fantastic mullets. We were the youngest kids here, in our early 30s.
Drinks are overpriced and the bartender actually measured the alcohol by the shot, something I haven't seen in a long time. Holy cheap. He was nice enough, but I guess he would have to be given the crowd. There was not enough seating, and if you weren't interested in the 80s hair band from Hell then there was nothing else to do.
Route 46 is not a place I'd like to get drunk in. It's bland, safe and is clearly geared toward family people who don't want to get too crazy. Even Pleasure Island, on Disney property, was more fun than this. You know how a bar draws you back because of its character? This place has no soul.
Worst. NYE. Ever.
Route 46 is a rock and roll compound that David Koresh would be envious to. Â Similiar to Davids in Waco, the only downfall was the gustapo like security guards who were drunk with power and lacking information. Â
Last night there was concert (A gaggle of bands including Seven Mary Three) and although the venue is awesome, once again the negative stigma of poor attitudes trumps the complex and the entertainment. Â The concert was "okay" but nothing to write home about, the best part about last night was the 3 pound meat sampler at the smokehouse. Â I guess I will write home about the meat being served in a crockpot, it brings out the caveman in all of us. Â
Marketing, Marketing, Marketing, then firing, firing and then rehiring....
We met some friends at Route 46 last night for dinner and music. Â I can't recommend The Smokehouse but the complex itself is great! Â The band last night was awesome - Iced Down - sang lots of rock 'n roll from the 70's, 80's and 90's. Â This place should advertise more or something - I just read the review from 2010 and I never even knew it existed until yesterday.
