My husband and I bought a Groupon for R&R Grill and went last night for dinner. Our server's name was Matt and he was personable, knowledgable and very attentive.  Since this was our first time there, I asked for recommendations and selected one-the shrimp and grits. It was delicious! My husband had the fish and chips which he thought was good. The dining experience at any restaurant  can be determined by service, as well as the food and our server made this a great experience. In talking to Matt, he said he had been a busboy at another CH restaurant but was never moved up to server, as they had promised.  Well, it was their loss! All in all, a very nice first dining experience! We will definaty go back!

This might be the best burger in the area.  Very impressed.  Nice bun, cooked to your preferred temperature and they grind their own meat.  Great deck, lots of tvs and they keep the sound on for big games.  I would not recommend their specialty cocktails but ok wine and beer prices with pretty good selection.

As a restaurant, I've only been a couple of times. The service was prompt and the food was okay to good. I've had the R&R burger with sweet potato fries and some other burger with fried jalapenos on top. The R&R burger was okay, the jalapeno burger was good, and the sweet potato fries were really good. The sweet potato fries were semi battered in a tempura-like starch, had a good crisp and the classic sweet potato flavor. At 12 and 13 bucks for the burger combos at dinner respectively, the prices were downright fair, which means for Chapel Hill standards, it's on the better side of dining deals.

The atmosphere is nice, with outside seating available, although the plastic chairs detracted from it a bit. Inside, the restaurant is pretty much dimly lit with warm, orange lighting, which is great in the winter, but a bit stuffy in the summer. Plus I find that most restaurants seem to be copping out on optimal cleanliness by dimming the lights, so dim lights don't really do it for me. It, however, does feel 'loungy', and jazz seeping through the speakers sounds just right.

As a bar, I'm a bit more familiar. After the kitchen closes, the place turns into one of the nicer-ish bars on Franklin St., and retains that loungy feel, given it's not a game day. Beer prices are okay, 2.50$ PBR pints to 5$ pints for some of the fancier stuff. One plus: no plastic cups, which is what really pushed it to 4 stars. They have some cocktails as well, and perhaps the only one of the college-y bars on Franklin that have mixed drinks available and the bartenders to make them. Nothing special, but not cringeworthy either.

Overall, a decent place to grab a bite in CH, a better place to grab a drink.
