My husband and I bought a Groupon for R&R Grill and went last night for dinner. Our server's name was Matt and he was personable, knowledgable and very attentive. Since this was our first time there, I asked for recommendations and selected one-the shrimp and grits. It was delicious! My husband had the fish and chips which he thought was good. The dining experience at any restaurant can be determined by service, as well as the food and our server made this a great experience. In talking to Matt, he said he had been a busboy at another CH restaurant but was never moved up to server, as they had promised. Well, it was their loss! All in all, a very nice first dining experience! We will definaty go back!

This might be the best burger in the area. Very impressed. Nice bun, cooked to your preferred temperature and they grind their own meat. Great deck, lots of tvs and they keep the sound on for big games. I would not recommend their specialty cocktails but ok wine and beer prices with pretty good selection.

As a restaurant, I've only been a couple of times. The service was prompt and the food was okay to good. I've had the R&R burger with sweet potato fries and some other burger with fried jalapenos on top. The R&R burger was okay, the jalapeno burger was good, and the sweet potato fries were really good. The sweet potato fries were semi battered in a tempura-like starch, had a good crisp and the classic sweet potato flavor. At 12 and 13 bucks for the burger combos at dinner respectively, the prices were downright fair, which means for Chapel Hill standards, it's on the better side of dining deals.

The atmosphere is nice, with outside seating available, although the plastic chairs detracted from it a bit. Inside, the restaurant is pretty much dimly lit with warm, orange lighting, which is great in the winter, but a bit stuffy in the summer. Plus I find that most restaurants seem to be copping out on optimal cleanliness by dimming the lights, so dim lights don't really do it for me. It, however, does feel 'loungy', and jazz seeping through the speakers sounds just right.

As a bar, I'm a bit more familiar. After the kitchen closes, the place turns into one of the nicer-ish bars on Franklin St., and retains that loungy feel, given it's not a game day. Beer prices are okay, 2.50$ PBR pints to 5$ pints for some of the fancier stuff. One plus: no plastic cups, which is what really pushed it to 4 stars. They have some cocktails as well, and perhaps the only one of the college-y bars on Franklin that have mixed drinks available and the bartenders to make them. Nothing special, but not cringeworthy either.

Overall, a decent place to grab a bite in CH, a better place to grab a drink.

A great place on Franklin Street to have lunch (casual food, not too pricy) and to party on Tuesdays and during week ends.
it is very popular so it's often crowded even if the place is quite big.
it's a really nice place, overall.

Graduation Sunday, this place was pretty much empty. Service was excellent, the food was ok. We started with the rib app and it is advertised with Chipotle sauce, it had a good flavor but no kick. The rib itself was tasty. I decided to get the R&R burger for my entree and my wife ordered the BBQ chicken nachos. The onion strings on the burger were pale, I guess the oil wasn't hot enough. The burger tasted OK, I've had better, I asked for it medium well and it came out well done. Some of my fries were burnt, its hard to mess up fries in my opinion. The nachos were OK, it is a HUGE portion and had fresh salsa and guacamole. I wouldn't return here for dinner but I think lunch would be fine or catching a sporting event there would be OK.

Came here to watch the UNC/Duke game. The napkins were Carolina blue! Very nice. The service was solid despite the place being packed to the gills. Our server even gave us a free pickle when we requested one (don't ask).

They don't serve pitchers here, which is strange, but I guess we were sitting on the restaurant side. I didn't order anything, but it looked like one of those menus that tries to be special or quirky with everything they make, but the food is just average, so when you want to order something just average, it will also be weird and quirky and maybe not what you really wanted. Take the fries. I think the only option is sweet potato fries. Sorry, "only option" means you have no option.

I imagine there are dozens of better places nearby, but not a bad place to catch the game.

Had a nice dinner there with my husband. I had the R&R Salad and it was quite good and he enjoyed his Cesar Salad with Grilled Chicken. We each had a nice cold draft. The server was very nice and showed the right amount of attentiveness.

Seems like it is great place for the summer and spring with its outside seating.

It is on Franklin Street but most inside were 25 and older.

I'm a fan! The cocktails are quite nice, and they're half price on Wednesday -- best deal around. Pro tip: get the hummus, which comes with a variety of fixings and a giant mortar and pestle to mix them in with.

We went up to Chapel Hill to see a Noon game. We arrived around 10am to pregame and it seemed like everywhere we went was closed. We found a small bar but they didnt serve food and then finally came to R & R. What a great find. They grind there meat in house so you dont have to get your burger well done. I had the western burger with sweet potato fries. Both were amazing. They also have a great selection of beer on tap.

I've driven/walked by this place many times and never thought to stop in. Honestly, it was the sign that kind of deterred me. It looks like letters on poster board to me and because it is located in the back of an office building where you have to walk through glass doors to get through there wasn't a menu placard so I wasn't sure what to think of the grill description. Thankfully Yelp was there to show me the way or I might have walked by again.

I guess I managed to go on a non-game day so it was pretty chill for a Saturday afternoon. This place is huge and I can't imagine what it might be like on the days it's packed. What I liked was the abundance of seating both inside and out. There just aren't enough places downtown where you can sit outside so of course took advantage of the lovely weather and sat outside.

The place itself is dark and austere and decor is very minimal although there are some really neat murals on the walls that lead up to the restaurant which give it personality. When we walked in I noticed there was a big bag of lettuce that had been cut open and was just out on the bar. I don't know if it was part of the prep for something but it seemed unusual to just have it spilling out onto where people were going to drink later.

Our waitress was really fun and nice and I enjoyed her personality. Not uptight and I felt like I could ask her for something without ruining her day like you get with some waitstaff. I heard her interact with other tables and she was awesome. Definitely an asset for sure. (long haired, blonde, pony tail young woman-I'm talking to you)

I ordered a veggie burger and was told it would not be like a typical patty and the waitress described how it was made. It seriously was not like any veggie burger I've had-it was actually better. They breaded the portabello mushrooms as the buns with delicious roasted veggies in the middle with a light sauce. I would order this again and again. I also ordered a salad and added chicken to it. The serving size was great and the amount of chicken was very generous and tasty but the dressing was really too plain for the salad. I think having a selection for the customer to choose from would be better.

I had a beer that was disgusting but it wasn't R&R's fault, just a bad selection. Should have known a microbrew that is only $3 would taste like a $3 Miller. So my bad. I had a bite of the pesto chicken sandwich and that was decidedly good. And I am a fan of their french fries which says a lot because I actually don't even like french fries. (more of an onion ring kinda girl).

So all in all, I would recommend. Maybe work on the sign and add a mural to it like what you find inside to set apart and stand out.

We stopped in R&R for early brunch before a 12:30 kickoff game. Surprisingly, they were one of the few places open on Franklin on homecoming weekend. The breakfast/brunch options were limited - egg and meat croissant sandwiches. But the regular menu was available.

I split the crispy chicken BLT with fries with another. The group ordered me a bloody mary while I was away from the table, whereas I would normally order a mimosa. But this was a darn good bloody mary! Full of spicy horseradish, it tasted almost like cocktail sauce, which I consider a good thing. The crispy chicken BLT was tasty, full of fresh ingredients. The fries weren't all that.

The server was jovial and played along with one of the more gregarious members of our party, dealing out just what was being dealt to her. The band (or at least part of it) came through to perform the fight song and Sweet Caroline.

It was a great way to start our day.

We have been going to R&R before home Carolina games for about 2 years now, mostly because of the size of the restaurant/bar and we are sure to get a table if we arrive at a decent time. The service has never been stellar, the food has always been average, but after this past weekend we are no longer going to be taking our business to R&R Grill.

Almost all of our group ordered the Chicken Tenders for lunch which we have all had countless times. Each plate came out with only 3 VERY small and thin chicken strips. This is a smaller portion than we have ever had before, and it costs $10.95 ( which is already a little over priced for chicken fingers in my opinion ).

Another person in our group ordered nachos and specifed that he just wanted chips and cheese, not the bbq chicken that it comes with, plain old nachos with extra cheese. The dish comes out with a giant bowl of chips and not much cheese on it at all, just barely on the top layer of chips, and this costs $9.95.

We asked the server if the portion for the chicken tenders lunch had changed and she said it hadn't but offered for us to talk to the manager. It was actually the owner that came over and he never even opened up a conversation with us, just told us that thats the lunch portions and its $3 cheaper than the dinner portion. We explained we have had this portion for many weeks and never seen it look so skimpy and he had nothing more to say about it. With regards to the nachos he said that the server didnt know how to ring in the order since that isnt on the menu. I'm sure there must be an 'extra cheese' button somewhere, though the server did actually tell us that since they were not busy she would tell the kitchen what the order was. I guess that didnt happen.

The nachos were sent back and the owner said that he took them off of our tab, as if that was a favor when we didnt eat them to begin with.

We never had a request that was unreasonable, but this owner has no sort of customer service, especially to a large group that goes there as often as we do. When we were leaving we told him that we were not going to be coming back anymore. He literally said 'this is my house and I dont take sh*t from anyone'. We never caused a scene or anything, just expressed our disappointment.

I can not believe an owner in the customer service industry ( with a very empty restaurant a lot of the time ) would treat customers in this manner.

There are many other options in Chapel Hill that treat customers better and have great food and I suggest you take your business elsewhere.

I know it might seem silly to give a restaurant that specializes in bar food five stars, but I really like this place.

Both times I've gone, it was never my intention to eat at R&R. The first time was a last minute decision but I wasn't disappointed. My husband and I were greeted by a very nice owner and our waiter was nice. The menu pretty much consists of all of my favorite foods: Hummus, Nachos, Edamame (!), Calamari, Zucchini fries, Wings. And those are just the appetizers. I seriously sat down and thought that someone based this restaurant on my brain, from how unrelated yet consistently yummy all of the menu items are.

The second time I planned on taking my friend to another Franklin Street restaurant with more of a view, but after not-so-impressive first impressions and a quick glance at the menu I decided to take her to R&R. Yet again we had friendly service and our food was as good as delicious bar food can be. Which is delicious.

So I give R&R five stars because the food is awesome, the staff is awesome, and because every time I've gone there it's been fairly empty. I want to see this place survive! If you want bar food in Chapel Hill, don't be fooled by tourist traps! Go to R&R!

My mom and I were traveling and ran across this place while in Chapel Hill. I was delightfully surprised. Good Calamari. I had the Blue Cheeseburger. I give it a 4/5. My mom had the Herb Chicken which was a 5/5. Good draft beer selection too. Service was a little slow but it was July 4th so they were probably a bit understaffed.

I would say the ribs was the best dish there. I'm not a huge fan of the pizza, and the calamari I've had was a little on the salty side. The two times I went here, it was with a http://restaurant.com coupon and my girlfriend and I got the ribs, which was well worth it. Otherwise, I'd say this is a little pricey for the kind of food you're getting. It's more of a college-y hangout than anything else.

You know how Kitchen Nightmares Gordon Ramsey flips his lid when he finds the kitchen serving frozen prepared foods for their customers? Well, I think I've found where all the frozen rejects end up -HERE! Seduced by a sign promising "The best brunch in town", we tried it yesterday. My son and I ordered their chicken and waffle offering, expecting, for the $12 price, that we would get a nice plump fried chicken breast and a golden waffle in the southern style. Instead, we got an anemic looking waffle on which a long, flattened 1/4-inch slab of chicken was perched. The waffle may have been crisp at some time (doubtful) and was literally soggy and spongy. The boneless chicken breast was flattened and frozen and thrown in a fryer. The only good thing I can say about it was it at least was brown, which the waffle certainly was not.

When I brought this sad state of affairs to the attention of the server she said that they don't usually server their waffles "extra crispy". Hey - I would have settled for minimally crisp! The owner did discount our bill, stating that they were having problems with the waffle machine and feigned surprise when I mentioned my disappointment with the frozen bird. I guess since a bar is a big part of this establishment, most people are inebriated enough not to notice how bad the food is!

Although on the "undergrad" side of Franklin St, I remain a fan of this spot primarily because there's always enough room to parking, whether it's yourself seated at a table or for your car nearby on the street or in a garage. Additionally, there's a decent variety of beers and the TVs display whatever Carolina game is on at the moment.

A very good alternative for lunch. I had a fried chicken BLT based on a Yelp review I read and it was a fantastic sandwich. Also had sweet potato fries which were crispy and my friend thought were great but I found the flavor a little lacking. Overall, the fried chicken BLT is a great lunch option and you can also get the traditional standbys.

Rob (the owner) is absolutely amazing.

Every time I have come here to grab lunch he's always managed to convince me to come sit at the bar and offer me a drink of some sort. I usually end up with a nice sweet tea (not an LIT since I still need to get back to work) which he comps the price for and we chat and joke around for a bit while I wait for my food to be packed up.

But what's even more amazing then free drinks? Custom made dishes.

I'd been called into work on one of my days off because one of the managers couldn't make it and so I decided that I deserved a little lunch treat. I came in craving this pasta dish which I couldn't remember the name of. My boyfriend had ordered it way back in February and I'd been dreaming of it ever since. It was full of spinach and tons of squash like veggies and I was absolutely devastated to see that it was no longer on the menu. I asked Rob (who at that time I had no idea was the owner) if that dish was still available. Since I couldn't name it he took the description that I had given and got the chefs to whip something up similar to it.

That veggie pasta dish the chefs whipped up was amazing. I thanked Rob profusely and asked him to send my thanks along to the chef who had managed to create a dish on the fly. With such great service what more can I ask for?

Btw. I finished my entire to-go box of pasta and since then I've been hooked. Seriously. I just ate there for lunch yesterday.

The place was dead for a Sunday brunch venue. 3 waiters were slumped at various points in the bar like bored teenagers (I suspect one of them actually was a bored teenager) though they sprang to life when we walked in.

The service was fine, a tad on the slow side, the food landed in a decidedly sub-average category. I got the Turkey Club sandwich and I've never seen lettuce more wilted and black. The tomatoes were a bit off too. I was happy to have gotten a free side-order of the sweet-potato haystack for checking in on FourSquare.

We left without having seen another customer even accidentally walk in which seems to agree with my thought that the place was pretty forgettable. No atmosphere and they don't even seem to try and have quality ingredients. Could've been worse, but could have been way better.

I eat there regularly and have been since it first opened. Namely because I work in the building in front of it that connects to it. The food is what you would expect for a good restaurant, and so is the price. They change things up every so often, coming up with new dishes, switching between warm and cold weathered foods. I don't drink but that have a big indoor and outdoor bar, several big HD TVs for games, but it's equally an elegant restaurant. I only wish they were open for breakfast more than just on Sunday so I could get breakfast and lunch there. Plus some good old basics on the menu would be nice for us with simpler tastes.

Recently they have started doing breakfast on Sundays when they open. And have some live entertainment at times. One of the owners is usually there and tries to always check on each customer.

I strolled in here looking for a place to have a quick bit to eat and a beverage. I had shrimp and grits, which did not disappoint. The portion was quite large and I had some left over. The bar was not overly pricey and they have a gorgeous patio in the back.

One of the best Bar/American food you can find in the Triangle. Everything is prepared FRESH. Sandwiches, salads, hamburgers, flat-bread pizzas,... it all tastes like it was just prepared in the kitchen for you. Most other places serve dishes that were prepped or partially prepped hours if not days earlier. Not at R&R grill. The staff, at least at lunch time, is always very friendly. The only detractor is the space: huge, thus hard to make it approachable. In a college town it ends up with a generic sports bar/post game hang out atmosphere.

Not impressed with the experience I had this Saturday (UNC v Duke). We arrived around 5:45-6 pm and were told there would be about a 30 minute wait. We proceeded to the bar to pass the time. During one of my beer orders I was given 2 Sweetwaters and 1 Yuengling when I asked for the reverse. I corrected the bartender and he questioned me making me repeat my order. A little bit of a nuisance and the questioning was a little off-putting, but they are busy, I understand. He made the change, dumping out the incorrect beer, no extra charge.

After waiting for more than 30 minutes, my wife got suspicious and checked in at the hosting station. Apparently they skipped us in line, and said they called us but we didn't respond. Again, it was busy, no problem, but we were 10 yards from the host station and no one came through the bar asking for our party.

So, after that, my wife made sure they knew where we were sitting. It wasn't much longer, maybe 10 minutes when they seated us.

This is where it starts to get ridiculous. They seat us at a table near the back, out of view of the TVs, which we said was fine. It's then that we realize there are at least 20+ seats available back here --- a whole closed section! People are waiting to sit down! I get that you couldn't really see the TV, but they could get an extra TV for game weekend. Again, we said we didn't need to see a TV -- so why did we have to wait if there was all this room available.

Our waiter came, and this is going to be mean, but it's the best description I can offer -- I think he was related to Derek Zoolander. Our mimbo waiter was pretty flighty, made for some awkward interactions and overall just wasn't swift. I can't remember all the interactions, but I do remember he brought the check after running my CC and didn't leave a pen. This was just consistent with the theme. Though this was my first visit, my wife said she's had similar airhead service before.

We only stayed for 90 minutes or so and just wanted an appetizer and a place to sit for some conversation. The nachos were good, but not amazing or particularly large considering the price.

I had heard good things about this place, but I was not impressed. I don't care to go back.

Well, I had a blast here. I think it had more to do with the beers, and the band than anything else, but I did have a great time. I loved the patio area where the band was set up, it was big and open with another separate little bar in the back.

The restaurant part on the inside was really nice; they had a huge bar, but I don't know if they were just grossly understaffed with bartenders or if it is just always that busy. It was packed, and there was a long wait to get the bartenders attention, so i just cashed out the tab when I finally got someone to serve me a beer because I didn't want to have to go through that again. (It was getting late anyway; I would guess it was about 12 on a Saturday night.)

I don't know how people normally dress at this place, but I felt underglammed in a cute shirt, jeans, and a hoodie. There were young(er) girls in cocktail dresses; I found that odd, but hey, I'm not from around here....maybe I'm odd? Moral of the story: it was fun, park at the garage across the street, and we paid a $3 cover, no biggie. Rock on!

I always get the steak and mashed potatoes here. Excellent. Most of the time the service has been great, but the food always is. The inside has a nice stylish design TV's at the bar, plus there is high-up outdoor seating for fresh air in the warmer months. In the late hours this place turns into a party hot-spot.

Our server was forever stoic. She was so plain and uninterested that it was really entertaining to me. Go get that Oscar girl! Should I do a name drop to the one that forgot our fried calamari?

A breakdown of our dinner-

White chili, good but skipable. The bread dominated the soup because it was tasty-er..but it should be the other way around no? Better yet, they should compliment.

Shrimp and grits- My favorite of the bunch but would never order it for myself- too rich!

Fish tacos- delicious stuff only because they jam pack it with goodies (avocado, lots of fish, veggies, etc) but by no means your authentic fish taco from across the border that's for sure.

This place was quite good. We came here for lunch. For an appetizer, I recommend the pita and hummus. They bring out, get this, a mortar and pestle along with an assortment of ingredients that you can yourself mash into the hummus, providing a very creative way to play with the food before enjoying it! This is accompanied with an overwhelming bowl of pita that two people cannot expect to finish and still order an actual entree. The two entrees that were ordered were the vegetarian pizza and fried fish, of course (it was a Friday after all). Both, excellent. The service was also friendly and the food came out quick which is necessary for lunch when you need to get back to work in a timely manner. I would surely recommend this play to others.

Yummy!
I see R&R Grill and I think " fried chicken BLT".. I dream of it almost every night...

this place is laid back, lots of tvs to watch sport, lot of space, inside and out.. I really really like it.
On the menu the food looks just like regular "sports bar food"... but then you try the chicken BLT, the cheese burgers, the bbq pulled pork sandwich and those fresh made chips and you realize that is not just another sports bar but much much more!

4 stars for potential! Large dining area with an even larger patio area. The patio area was rather impressive with it's large bar and many tvs. Great little place to watch Duke beat W.VA. It was pretty quiet that night, but all the better to just sit around with a couple beers (they have widmer) and enjoy the lovely night. I see R&R being a good place for date night. I'll be back for the food next time.

Before the owners of R&R gutted the interior of what used to be Goldie's, my coworkers and I would pass by the abandoned bar and hope upon hope that something good would come of the space. Thankfully, something did.

The heart of the place is really the kitchen. The menu isn't revolutionary - you're not going to come here to sample the African Boomslang with diced rainbow chutney sweetened with the tears from teacup pigs. You're coming here for American grill food, and that means comfort faire like burgers (made from quality sirloin ground on the premises), homemade fries and chips, crispy, tasty flatbreads, and one of the best crabcake sandwiches you're likely to find outside of Maryland. I can honestly say that I've never been disappointed by anything I've ordered from either the lunch or the dinner menu (even the Wedge!), and I've sampled at least half of both.

The menu may be pretty straightforward, but there's still room for whimsy. The chef always has a board out front with two or three specials that allows the kitchen to stay sharp and not become bored after they've grilled their millionth burger.

The inside isn't going to be featured on the cover of Interior Design Magazine anytime soon, but it's quite a step up from the dark, rundown vibe that infused Goldie's when it was on death row. The bar is large and comfortable, and there's plenty of room to roam both inside and out on the veranda or patio or whatever the hipsters are calling it now.

The draft beer selection is admirable, especially the Victory Golden Monkey - a smooth, Belgian ale with a high alcohol content that'll sneak up on you like a ninja monkey. After downing a couple of those, you won't even be paying attention to the interior. Most of the beers aren't cheap, but everybody just relax - there's PBR on tap for those clinching the purse strings.

As nice and pleasant a place as R&R Grill may be, it's not without its flaws. For starters, the differences in the lunch and dinner menus are head-scratchingly obtuse. You can get a burger anytime you'd like, but if you've been there for lunch and fell in love with the chicken pesto or crabcake sandwich, you can forget trying to order that at dinner time. In fact, all of the lunch sandwiches are MIA from the dinner menu, including a delicious pulled rib that would be wonderful paired with that Golden Monkey and a Heels game.

Unpredictable late-night crowds are another drawback, albeit a small one. Sometimes bars just get busy, but during the first half of the first UNC-NC State game, the bar was fairly empty. By the time 10 minutes had elapsed in the second half, it looked as though half of frat and sorority row had moved into the place, permanently. We sat at the bar and dealt with elbows in our backs and the concussively-pungent aroma of Axe in the air for the rest of the night.

All that said, R&R is a welcome addition to Franklin St., and a nice alternative to Spanky's for quality American bar cuisine.

It's probably not fair that I review this as I harbor intense nostalgia when it comes to Chapel Hill and my undergraduate days. And Goldies, how I'll miss you: the time our friend got us thrown out for threatening to drop a glass over the outdoor elevated porch; the time my flirtation awkwardly met my new boyfriend; the time the bouncer challenged my ID; the time a restaurant colleague went down on someone round the left corner of the bar ... hm, on the other hand, maybe they aren't exactly the best of times!

But when I walked into R&R I quickly compared it to the look and feel of Goldie's. I have to say, god help the cook line if they ever have a full house. There must be 300 tables in the restaurant! They've utilized the entire porch space to the max of its capability (and I imagine it's hugely popular in the summer, so that makes sense), but even the inside is a wall-to-wall grid of seating. No more are the pool tables or the couch section or the high-tops. Which basically means R&R is setting itself up as more of a restaurant than a nightlife stop and that's totally okay.

It definitely felt like more of a restaurant than Goldie's ever did too -- by way of the menu, the prices, the chic local artwork, and the awesome old-school playlist that was rolling the evening we went. I tried the soup special, cheddar and beer: it was like a great vat of melted cheese -- in a good way! =) Husband and I definitely powered through that quickly. For my entree, I tried the sliders...my first encounter with this food phenomenon. Naturally drawn towards :most: ;) things miniature, I nearly found them too cute to eat. But glad I finally gave in because they were awesome! Sweet onions, cheese, and red meat -- all in a bitesize package. Nom!

R&R Grill is a great addition to the Franklin Street restaurant scene in Chapel Hill.

Bar - It has two good sized bar areas (indoor & outdoor). Outdoor bar is perfect for pre-gaming during football season. Solid draft beer selection....everything from PBR to Victory Golden Monkey.

Food - I've been there twice already and each time have been impressed. The first time I went I got the R&R burger. It was one of the best I've had in a long time. They grind their own meat daily which really makes a difference. The second time I got the Black & Blue Pizza (flank steak & blue cheese).....unique combination that really works on a pizza.

Service - Good. Wait staff did a good job making recommendations and refilling our drinks....two things I think are important for a good dining experience.

R&R is a classy restaurant situated within the Bank of America building on East Franklin Street. It's not directly accessible from the street, so you'll have to head in and down a ways (or up some stairs if you come in the back way).

Once you come in, you get a mild sports bar vibe, with a heavy dash of restaurant mixed in. There's an indoor and outdoor component, with bars set up in each area for those people who just want a cold one or some apps (the apps are half-off between 5-7 on Mon-Fri).

I had a larger group (10), and a http://Restaurant.com coupon, both never great things for server to see, but she did a good job overall, getting us things (it was a little slow, but considering the amount of people, the split checks, and the large groups coming in and around, I can understand that)

For food, I had the sliders; 3 miniburgers with cheese and fried onions. They were quite tasty, particularly the onions.

Price-wise, it's not for the meek, or for the grad student level (particularly the dinner menu section, which gets into nice restaurant territory for their more high-quality wars). They seem to be going for a more professional clientele though, so that works for them.

This place is definitely a hidden gem as it takes the place of Goldie's and is kind of hidden on Franklin. They have your typical bar food, but a little better and more interesting than most of the other spots on Franklin. We got the black and blue pizza, which was a pizza with steak and blue cheese on it. Also got the fried calamari, and it was definitely some of the softest calamari I've had.

The prices are about average I think, $10-$15 for an entree for good sized portions. It was pretty empty when we went on a Monday night so go support this place so that it can stay open!

It's pretty good place, but for a student budget, it might be slightly on the expensive side, but honestly the food quality is pretty good. They just recently opened so they were doing the free appetizer promotion when we visited. We had the crab cake which is delish.
