It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
This bar is the tale of two bars. Â There is the left side which is quite easy on the eyes and where I'd love to sit down for a couple pints. Â However, I was here for a bday thang on a Sat. night and everyone was on the right side with all the pool tables, foosball, golden tee and hepatitis. Â I swear they stole the couches from my parent's basment. Â There were only 6 beers on tap (Guiness, #9, Foothills Jade IPA and a couple others) with a bunch of bottles available, but I was underwhelmed. Â This day in age you have World of Beer, Yard House, Flying Saucer and even the Tyler's in Raleigh where 50 beers on tap is the minimum now. Â 6 beers on tap for a place with "Taproom" in the name killed it for me. Â The tv's were of nice quality, great 1080p quality, but I simply could not get past the limited beer and deplorable decor. Â If you enjoy camoflogue, musky odors and decade old stains then this place is for you. Â I wish I had eaten something, but did not have much of an appetite. Â This is a bipolar restaurant where good meets bad, and sadly I was stuck in the bad... thus this review.
Great location of the Tyler's chain, offers the great food and service of their other locations with some Carrboro charm. Â On a Sunday night at 7pm the restaurant was packed with a wait-time of about 20 minutes for a party of 4 (which in reality was more like 10 minutes). Â Our server knew the menu inside and out, took all of our orders from memory and everything came out perfectly. Â Definitely check out Tyler's if you're in the mood for a good meal and a beer in downtown Carrboro.
