We decided to pop in after the races and what as gem. They advertise the World's best enchiladas. Â We didnt get to try because we were invited to join the Derby Day potluck. This place has been around since 1936 and some of the customers and staff could have been there. Â An 83 yr old was playing the spoons and a 92 yr old navy vet was our "waitress". Everyone was down home friendly. The younger waitress told us that they are busy for lunch then the night time bar crowd shows up. We were there on a Saturday. Easy crowd with a jukebox playing Tejano and country. FULL of character. The quintessential dive bar. Can't wait to get back to San Antonio for an excuse to drop in. Its near Retama park.
