Tripps Humor Bar

I can't see giving any bar 5 stars. The experience is too unpredictable. So 4, IMAO, is two thumbs up. A really chill place. Unpretentious. Even though its deep inna heart of Texas, it has a SoCal feel. With a country edge.

Drunk girl: Hi.
Buddy: Hello.
Drunk girl: So I just moved to the area five years ago...
Buddy: 'JUST'? So, you're saying you've ONLY lived here for half a decade?
Drunk girl: ...(blank stare with head cocked to side)...
Drunk girl's friend: (To Drunk girl) A decade is ten years, so five years is half that...
Drunk girl: ...(the wheels are turning...slowly)...oooooh!!!
Buddy: Yeah...time to go...

Decent sized bar smack outside the gates of Randolph AFB. You see exactly what you would expect to see...

Civilian girls trying to hook up with military guys.
Air Force girls (aka 'Easy Pickings') trying to hook up with 'townies'
Retired military drinking cheap beer and smoking.

If you get past that, you'll also notice $.50 pool table, darts, cheap drinks, cool ass bartender, and a stage with a huge dance floor. Great live music and fun scenery make Tripps a fun stop away from all the touristy draws of SA proper.

...still not sure what the 'Humor' is about...other than my buddy's brief interaction with a drunk girl...

A fun hole in the wall/honky tonk kind of bar right outside the gate of Randolph AFB.

Tripps has live music every weekend, mostly Friday and Saturday nights. This is when the place is at it's best. The larger room in the back with the stage has traditional seating; a smaller classic bar up front is where the action happens on weeknights.

Drinks are dirt cheap; Shiner is the most expensive thing on tap. As it is outside of SA, they do allow smoking and have for quite some time.
