I do love me some Ruby Tuesday--their guacamole is delicious and I crave their salad bar ever since the RT in town closed down. Sadly, this RT doesn't quite live up to my expectations. The last time husband and I went, we ordered a guacamole appetizer to share and each got the soup and salad bar. My soup was almost inedible; it was chicken tortilla and tasted like a recipe gone wrong. The salad bar wasn't refreshed the entire time we were there; the crouton bowl (mmmm, Ruby's croutons) was empty. Our server was pleasant enough but didn't want to be there. Overall it was a disappointing night, as we drove from Lafayette just for this.
Review Source:Ruby Tuesday never seems to get the first impression right. Â Hostess was too busy talking to friends when we arrived. Â I thought she was a customer. Â Finally sat us down.
Server was very good, helped to recover from first impression. Â Salad bar was excellent, as usual. Â We both ordered the petite sirloin. Â Steaks were very good, maybe just a bit over salted. Â Sides were fine.
Restaurant was not well managed. Â A large party with lots of kids had just left as we were leaving. Â That area was not cleaned up until after our meal was served - must have been 20-30 minutes. Â I guess nobody wanted to tackle the mess. Â I almost left after visiting the bathroom. Â I have not seen a bathroom that bad since I was at a ball park in the middle of the summer.
Went to Ruby Tuesday's with high expectations...
Two words: RAW FISH.
The blackened tilapia I ordered was about 1.5" in thickness - the middle 1" was completely RAW. Â And I don't mean questionable raw - completely cold and raw. Â Unfortunately I took a bite before discovering just how raw it was. Â
My husband's meal was sub par. Â The lobster tail was the tiniest one I've seen in my life. Â The crab cake and shrimp were not very fresh. Â The side of zucchini wasn't even warmed - it was basically raw as well.
The waiter did bring me a properly cooked tilapia, but it was ridiculously over-seasoned with crunchy under-cooked rice. Â
Little apology was made for the raw fish, and no effort to retain our future business with a complimentary dessert, or discount on the bill, etc. Â Also, the waiter never did bring biscuits that should have been included.
Sad to say a buffet salad was the highlight of the night. Â What a waste of money and a huge disappointment. Â We won't be back.
P.S. if you do go - do NOT order seafood! Â Stick with something a little safer - maybe ribs that are raved about. Â I wish I had ordered those instead.
