I have always been intrigued by this bar.
As a child visiting Visko's next door, I was able to look out the windows and see people having fun on the patio of the Rugby Pub. I thought "when I grow up, I am going to be one of those people". Now that I have visited, some of the allure has worn off, but I do like the place.
While this area of the westbank seems littered with small divey bars, Rugby Pub is a little more upscale. Their beer selection is decent, and prices are fair. Despite ordering mere seconds before last call, I didn't feel rushed to leave. the staff actually let me sit and drink my beer at a normal pace.
There is an outdoor area with tables, which would be a great place to sit on a nice night.
If you're looking for a non-divey Wesbank bar, check this place out.
I played rugby for many years and so I ended up at the Rugby Pub on many occasions. Â I have to admit I always had a lot more fun at rugby parties at the Boot or Bruno's than I ever did here. Â The New Orleans Men's Rugby Team has their pitch not far away so they end up here often after practice and games. Â If it wasn't so far away on the Westbank I would probably be here more often.
Review Source:The Rugby Pub is definitely one of the nicer bars on the Westbank. Â The place is really big, and as the name suggests, there is always footage of Rugby games playing on the screens. Â This is actually a pretty big hangout for members of the Gretna Rugby team, and it is likely you will run into a few of them if you drop into this place.
Rugby Pub almost feels like it belongs somewhere uptown. Â The entire bar has a really nice atmosphere and the people are always really friendly. Â This is a great place to check out, if you want a drink on the Westbank and you aren't in the mood for a dive.
