Tasteless and bland crap. I don't know how this place stays open. All three of my soft tacos ripped open spilling it's tasteless contents onto my cheap aluminum tray. Also, if I wasn't watching and didnt speak up, taco boy would've left off the rice and beans. If I were half the man I was 10 years ago, I'd take a flame thrower to this place!!
Review Source:I've been to Salsarita's twice: the first time to try it, the second time just out of convenience. There isn't a Chipotle for miles where this Salsarita's is in the Old Bridge Shops Plaza, and trust me if there was, this place would go out of business.
Food quality isn't bad, but nothing to get excited over. It's just average and you really aren't missing anything if you never come in here. The menu is more in line with Qdoba than Chipotle in terms of offerings (they have quesadillas here), and they also have "alcohol free margaritas."
One nice thing is that they don't charge extra for guacamole, that is one major annoyance I have with Chipotle (I think I pay enough there as it is, an extra $2 is a little steep).
Overall Salsarita's isn't bad, but isn't great. If you just happen to have a craving for mexican while you're in this plaza you won't have a bad meal here. But if you LOVE Chipotle, be prepared to be a little disappointed - it's just not as good.
Not sure why everyone seems so down on this place, maybe its because of how Chipotle has hypnotized everyone...
I remember when this place first opened, way back when the "gourmet fast food Mexican" style thing was just picking up steam (see Chipotle, Qdoba, Moe's, etc). Back then, I though this was a worthy entry into this market, and I still stand by this opinion.
Just ate here recently, ordered the chicken quesadilla combo. One of my favorite things about this place is their salsa...hot means HOT, which is how I like it. Another good thing about Salsaritas is they have a large variety of options to chose from (try the Mexican pizza, it's really good), and you can customize most of it. I got my quesadilla simple, chicken, cheese, onions, and cilantro, but I could have asked for much more. It came with salsa & sour cream, and in addition I got a plate of chips and soft drink with the combo. All in all a filling and delicious meal for a decent price.
Ok, so its not the fanciest Mexican place around, but it's a class higher than Taco Bell (not that I don't enjoy pigging out there from time to time either). And yeah, the employees may have looks on their faces like they don't wanna be there, but what can you expect from a bunch of high school kids working a part-time job in fast food? Overall, this is still a decent place to eat, without the hassle of Chipotle (love it to, but people who go here frequently know what I mean) and better flavors than Qdoba...
Salsarita's is to Mexican Food is what Krauser's is to Mexican Food.
The ingredients have no flavor to them, including the meats, and salsa. Â I had a steak burrito with all of the toppings and the taste was exactly like taking a burrito from Chipotle, 60% of the size, dip it in water, microwave it, dip it in cold water, and then microwave again. Â
Also, both times I've eaten here, I was on the express train to the toilet, hence this place not even deserving of 2 stars. Â
Poison me once, shame on you. Â Poison me twice, you better not poison me twice.
We were rock climbing nearby and happened to see this mexican restaurant. Similar to Baja fresh, Chioptle. As we like mexican food we decided to give it a shot. Tried the monday special chicken burrito bowl and two crunchy chicken tacos. Bowl size was a lot less than other mexican places though the price was same. But the cruncy tacos were delicious. Me and my wife both loved them. The hot salsa was really hot. i normally eat spicy food and still i was steaming!!
The place is clean and good enough to try on a week day or as a casual dinner. I would go back if i am in the area for the hot salsa and crunchy tacos.
Keep in mind this is a "Subway" fast food style restaurant. Â your food is made assembly line style.
Our friends all agree it's a nice place, and better than going to Wendy's McD's or the BK lounge.
We always get the 2 taco special. Â We get rice & lack beans instead of the chips.
My favorites are the chix, steak and pulled pork. Â My toppings are salsa, lettuce, tomato, onions, jalapenos, cilantro. Â There are a number of hot sauces on the table. Â Gives the food a nice kick.
Free refills are always nice. Â I wish they offered raspberry ice-tea. Â I guess I have to go to Panera for that.
We have been lucky, and not experienced what the other reviews mentioned. Â Our food was always hot, and served quickly. Â It seems some of the staff lack training, but for the most part they get the order right. Â We will continue to go their for lunch.
I was a regular by default of proximity, but after my last experience, I'm going AWOL on this joint.
This place is NOT fresh. Â It stinks like the Staten Island "Fresh Kills" landfill. Â One of the employees that work here is completely absent-minded and "slow." Â I mean her brain doesn't spin as fast as a lab rat. Â
After ordering, it is customary to choose your own additional toppings/sauce. Â I asked what the fried beans looked like, and without warning, she slabbed on a handful of the nasty looking mess that was. Â Why, thanks for ruining my quesadilla, you quesabimbo!
The food is terrible. Â The ingredients look like Mickey Mouse and friends ran through it and took a *shat* all over. Â If we weren't starving, we would have chosen the McDonald's dumpster that was a half mile away.
And what's worse is the teen-ployees here cop attitudes all around. Â Yes, I know you are just waiting to get off work so you can meet your boyfriend at the mall, but could you just hold it together a little while longer? Â I don't know what your rush is- 16 and Pregnant is casting already?
I was in the Shoppes of Old Bridge and looking for a quick bite to eat somewhere. I saw Salsarita's and thought I could go for some Mexican so I went inside. The line already formed contained a number of people and it took them a while to take and execute the orders (I was probably in line for about 10-15 min). They have the same concept as Subway and Chipotle, where you place your order and they make it right in front of you as you pick and choose your ingredients. The workers were all teenagers, who weren't that friendly, but the older woman who rang me up was nice. She was clearly stressed out from the long line of people and the time taking to get the orders out, but she was efficient and friendly. Perhaps the place is still new and they don't have their act together just yet? I'm not sure. The majority of the people were ordering things to go, but they have a lot of seating if you decide you want to eat there. I ordered 2 Soft Shell Tacos - Ground Beef and Shredded Pork. I chose my condiments: Tom, Lettuce, Sour Cream, Beans, Salsa. I took the order to go and waited to get home till I ate. Ten min later and starving, I gobbled up both tacos which were cold by then. The seasoning of both the ground beef and shredded pork were just alright. This place was just "eh" for me. Between the time it took me to order and get my food and the tacos themselves, I really have no desire to return but we'll see.
