Well I woke up on a sunny morning and thought to myself, "I feel like playing cards," so I put the top down on the ride, picked up my paycheck and drove down Folsom Blvd out of Sacramento City into beautiful Rancho Cordova. Â My destination was Rancho's Club Casino, but I felt like a few pops first and I got wedged into the nearby Sand Trap Lounge.
As the name implies, golf is a big deal here. Â The Sand Trap must count a lot of golfers amongst their regulars, because they had quite a corner of tournament listings and such. Â Seriously. Â I thought golf was big at Chargin's Bar and Grill, but it seems like the Sand Trap has them beat. Â I can only surmise that the lounge's proximity to Mather Golf Course plays a factor.
The bar itself is kind of cool. Â The front room is heavy on the golf decor and has plenty of tables and a medium sized bar. Â The back room is larger, with a second bar, a small stage, and what appeared to be a dance floor. Â As I was there during the early afternoon, this back room was not in use. Â Friday and Saturday nights it's open for dancing and entertainment. Â
All in all an interesting place. Â It had just opened for the day and was nearly deserted when I was there, but I will have to drop in when I play Mather this spring.
