This is a place to go for an intimate conversation with a friend or two..........
It's got a mellow vibe, with a piano player.
The view is amazing, the drinks are pretty good and not anymore over-priced than other spots in the area. Â They have a happy hour from 4:30 to 6:00 from M-F.
It's such a waste that they didn't build an outdoor patio or at least make the windows open, because it can get hot sittin' near the sun. Â There are plenty of seating options away from the windows. Â It's great to come and watch the sunset, and see the birds fish for their dinner. Â I once saw a dolphin right near the shore. Â Otters hang around. Â People are wading and swimming. Â So relaxing to take it all in.
One of the bartenders has been here for years and reminds me of "Ros" from the show Frasier in her looks and mannerisms. Â I've called her that for so long, I forget her real name sometimes.
I hadn't been here for a long time, the menu and drink options have changed.
Monterey Beach Hotel now called beach Resort Monterey (by Best Western) just had a face-lift a 3 million dollar one. Â Much needed and now the place is pretty cute beach resort. Â Not fine or very classy but think a hint of the tropics. Â The decor is great straight from Malaysia or something and their lobby/lounge area is my favorite. Â Very spacious. Â I'd give it more stars but even thought the ambiance is better looking there was no one around. Â Even though the place had wedding booked all weekend the bar area was silent before 9:30pm (good for the non-wedding related hotel guests). Â Other than that, they have done a spectacular job revamping this place.
