This is a place to go for an intimate conversation with a friend or two..........

It's got a mellow vibe, with a piano player.

The view is amazing, the drinks are pretty good and not anymore over-priced than other spots in the area.  They have a happy hour from 4:30 to 6:00 from M-F.

It's such a waste that they didn't build an outdoor patio or at least make the windows open, because it can get hot sittin' near the sun.  There are plenty of seating options away from the windows.  It's great to come and watch the sunset, and see the birds fish for their dinner.  I once saw a dolphin right near the shore.  Otters hang around.  People are wading and swimming.  So relaxing to take it all in.

One of the bartenders has been here for years and reminds me of "Ros" from the show Frasier in her looks and mannerisms.  I've called her that for so long, I forget her real name sometimes.

I hadn't been here for a long time, the menu and drink options have changed.

Monterey Beach Hotel now called beach Resort Monterey (by Best Western) just had a face-lift a 3 million dollar one.  Much needed and now the place is pretty cute beach resort.  Not fine or very classy but think a hint of the tropics.  The decor is great straight from Malaysia or something and their lobby/lounge area is my favorite.  Very spacious.  I'd give it more stars but even thought the ambiance is better looking there was no one around.  Even though the place had wedding booked all weekend the bar area was silent before 9:30pm (good for the non-wedding related hotel guests).  Other than that, they have done a spectacular job revamping this place.
