Love this place. My family has been staying at Bon Aire for three generations. Compared to the handful of the other local bar/grill this is the best. It maybe small & limited but what they do have is EXCELLENT. Cheeseburgers & chicken kabob are fantastic and huge. The smoked fish spread is a MUST try. Rum runner comes with a shot of 141 in the straw so be warned but definitely a great drink. Can't beat the sunsets, so for all the people that don't stay at the resort, I'd come before sunset & park at pharmacy across street or public parking down the street and soak in the view and eat some of the best (if not THE best) bar/grill food on St. Pete.

Hidden behind the Bon Aire hotel right on the beach. This is a great little beach bar sitting right on the sand with an awesome view. We enjoy going here for a relaxing lunch like a little hour long vacation. The prices for the food are fair and the burger is really one of the best on the beach. The drinks are okay mainly sweet syrups for mixers no fresh fruit and the bartenders are easily flustered when they get busy and will take it out on the guests. Parking can be a pain because of the small lot. Once you have your food and a cold beer staring out at the water it's all good.
We only ate/drank here because we were staying at the Bon-Aire. We wouldn't necessarily go out of our way to come here otherwise, but it's the perfect on-site grill/bar. The food was surprisingly delicious - everything tasted very fresh and the portions were large and delicious! The burger, like everyone says, was great. In addition, the smoked fish dip was divine - we ordered it twice - ask for Sirachi (sp?) Â sauce with it! And the drinks were well-priced: About $3 for a beer, $6 for pina coladas, and their special cocktail was only $3-4. The bartenders were all very friendly and attentive; quick service! You can charge your bill to your room, which is super convenient, but they add an 18% tip on automatically - which we were more then okay with.
Review Source:Excellent beach bar option. It's a nice walk from Pass-a-Grille Beach to here. You'll pass a few other options, but this a good destination. I was only drinking, but the food that was going by looked and smelled very good. Definitely not your typical "beach bar" fare. Staff was very friendly too.
Review Source:Great little, and I do mean little beach bar! Â Just a handful of tables and the bar. Â Entire group enjoyed fantastic burgers and ice cold beer while looking out at the beach. Â Bartender offered very good service despite a packed bar with a lot of eating. Â It was just him and a cook to take care of everyone. Â Parked at the drug store accross the street and walked over...worked well. Â Will not be the only stop during our 4 days here...very comfortable spot to hang.

Sandbar Bill's is a hidden little beach bar behind the Bon Air Motel on St Pete Beach. It's proximity (or association) to the hotel makes the prices a little higher than ideal but the quality is still great. Their food menu is a little limited but they're sort of known for their burgers so that's what I went with. The cheeseburger ($6.75) was great, it definitely had a backyard grill flavor to it and the size was huge. It was a good burger but it doesn't come with fries or chips, they don't ask you how well you'd like it cooked, and I'm pretty sure they use frozen patties. It might not been the ideal burger but eating it right by the beach watching the sunset and sipping on a rum runner made it the best burger in the world. Their frozen drinks (like the rum runner) range in the $7-8 range but are made to order and pack a punch, definitely a delicious way to enjoy your time at the beach. It's too bad I had to drive after otherwise I would have gone back for more, much more.
We are from Sunny Arizona and wanted to go sit at a beautiful beach with good drinks and GREAT FOOD. So, I turned to my Yelp Peeps for help. You guys recommended this place at the Bon-Aire Resort on St Petersburg Beach. OMG. We are pretty picky about our burgers and this was the BEST we have ever had outside of our own Kobe burgers. THEY WERE JUICY, Medium Rare (as ordered) and melted in your mouth. We also tasted the Smoked Mullet Spread. It is made fresh daily and caught the night before. Other people ordered the Chicken Fajita Kabobs and Nachos and they looked great. YUMMY! Okay, now we need to talk about Nico, the bartender. I named him Nico the Greco! He is Greek and very nice. Absolutely charming, knowledgeable and a truly fun guy, he made our experience amazing. His drink skills are legend and I almost gasped when I sipped the 151 Rum in my straw! PRICES ARE VERY REASONABLE and the whole place is great. It was very interesting that the majority of the motel guests have been coming for multiple generations.
I cannot tell you how much we enjoyed the nice ocean breezes, looking at the water and enjoying a great time with many friendly people. This stop really MADE our vacation. CHECK THEM OUT!
We were only in FL for 4 days and we ate at Sandbar Bills 3 or 4 times. Â Their burgers were to die for, the atmosphere couldn't have been better right on the beach, the bartender was friendly and remembered you when you came back. Â What more could I ask for, oh yea, they had my drink, YEA! Â What a great place. Â Only bad thing was there is no parking if your not staying at the Bon Aire hotel but it is worth the walk
