Great selection of sushi rolls or maki as they say. It would have been a 5 but they don't serve "uni" or sea urchin. Regardless, everything else is great. They don't put a whole lot of rice and the fish taste fresh enough. Price is decent and their green tea ice cream...well, it's really green tea...very bitter but still so yummy.

Came here before it got burned down, I really love what they've done to the place. The owner and the family are friends of MY family's friends (so they're more like acquaintances) and when we came here with those family friends, the servers were very friendly and prompt. Fast-forward 4 months later, I end up getting a job 5 minutes away and I tell my co-worker we should get lunch here. We go in about 2 pm-ish, noticing that their lunch hour ends at 2:30 (or 3, in any case, it was close to lunch hour ending). We go in and there's only 2 other customers finishing up their meal. The waitress clearly doesn't recognize me and just asks us what to drink, expecting us to get sodas or tea, and looks quite disappointed when we both say we just want water. She then puts the menus in front of us and leaves. My friend and I chat for about 30 seconds before she comes back asking what we'd like to eat. My friend, who has never been here before, asks for more time. The waitress then says, to our faces, "Still...?" and walks away, sitting on a stool at the bar and chats with a man who I recognize as the chef. I don't understand Cantonese, but I do know enough Mandarin and Taiwanese to realize they were talking about our choice of drinking water, and the man was talking and laughing loudly about that. While my friend and I are hastily making our choices, and the waitress comes back, and tells us that we need to hurry because the CHEF will be leaving when lunch hour ends. I don't know if this is common, but we were pretty shocked. After our orders are taken, we hear NO sounds of cooking in the kitchen. Instead, we hear a microwave!! I have a different friend who was briefly working here (and left because the staff was very rude) and said they actually use the microwave sometimes to make food. In general, the FOOD is just fine. Standard Japanese cuisine for me. I'm just very irritated at the staff.

We already have a favorite sushi restaurant in Indianapolis.  We only tried Sansui because it's closer to home and there was a Groupon available.  The first time we tried to use the Groupon the place was packed and we were on a schedule.  We walked in...sat down...and waited twenty minutes - without anyone taking a drink order from us or *anything*.  Well...unfortunately, we still had the Groupon.  So we went back on a very UN-busy Thursday evening.  We got drinks within the first few minutes this time so we would have a chance to look at the menus, but the service was super slow after that.  I ordered a beer when we did place our food order and I didn't get it until we had to remind the waitress that I had ordered it nearly fifteen minutes into the meal.  The salads were average, the appetizers were below average, and the sushi was average.  Our Groupon was for a sushi meal for two people.  Since it took care of the salads, appetizers, drinks and main course, we decided to order and pay extra for dessert.  Rick had green tea ice cream and I had red bean ice cream.  This was the highlight of the meal.  Then the bill came.  Had we not had the Groupon, this meal would have been over $75.00!  YIKES!  I couldn't believe it.  I can honestly say that we won't be back.  There are too many other sushi restaurants in Indianapolis that have better food and service than this one.
