My friends and I came here one Saturday night because the show was super cheap and it came with free booze and parking. We got here early, grabbed our free beer, and were promptly seated in the front.
The comedy had highs and lows. Some groups were better than the others, but I liked the fact that Saturday Saturday offered a mix of improv, standup, and sketch. The lowest aspect for me, however, was when one standup seemed to run out of material so she started to heckle the crowd. Picking on people who were just sitting in her view felt tacky. It was as if she were trying to recreate that scene b/w Dave Chappelle and Eddie Murphy from The Nutty Professor, and it was really awkward. I've been to a lot of comedy shows in LA and it's common for standups to joke with the crowd, but this comic was attempting a Lisa Lampanelli bit but instead she came across like a bitter middle school bully.
I'm not sure if I'd go back to Saturday Saturday unless I was familiar with the majority of the lineup, but my experience shouldn't distract others from checking out the show. The mainstay of Saturday Saturday, Robert Downey Jr Jr, is entertaining, and the rest of the lineup is different each month.
