Easily one of the best bars in Pacific Beach. They have pretty much every beer you could imagine and plenty of ones you've never heard of so there is always something new to try. The service is pretty good, it can get somewhat crowded on weekends and during happy hour, but for the most part they have good servers and everyone is friendly. The food is also good, lots of different appetizers that are good for groups. Overall it's a great place to go get some drinks at or watch a game and definitely worth checking out.

Great beer. But food is mediocre.

First off, I love that their online beer menu shows you their current selections, as well as keg levels and the next beer up (and sometimes even the beer after that). They have 40-something taps which gives a great selection.

However, it's a bit too big and too PB-y for my tastes overall. The place is huge but still gets very crowded and service can be pretty slow. Lots of drunk PB bros and girls, just not my type of place to relax and enjoy some nice beers. I come here when I see that they have a beer I've been looking for on tap, but the overall atmosphere keeps me from becoming a regular.

If you're looking for an upbeat, happy hour-friendly dive in PB, SD TapRoom is your spot!  Despite slow-ish service (hey, it was really crowded!) my friend and I managed to snag a round of tasty craft pints and split an order of lobster mac & cheese (VERY chunky with awesome lobsterness, but not creamy).

If I lived in the area, I'd definitely be a regular here.  Cool setting, constantly rotating selection of beers, and a mouthwatering variety of food to accompany said liquids.

I love this place, but my stars are generally towards my last visit. We stopped in for a later dinner drink, I had suggested this place for the amazing variety in craft beer and for the rotating beer list (so every time you go there is something new to try). I've come here in the past and have been greeted and seated by some really socially-awkward servers, so when being seated by Marissa (spelling?) I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly she was! We were seated quickly and when I asked her what her favorite beer was, she didn't hesitate to offer a few, for various types of palates. I like beers with hints of vanilla in them, and she brought me a vanilla bean stout that was EXACTLY what I wanted. After bringing out our beer choices she brought us water (much appreciated!). Being that I was with some people who are new to San Diego, they asked for a few suggestions of things to do off of Garnet and in the PB area... this girl should be concierge at a hotel!!!! She literally planned our night in PB for us, and my friends and I couldnt be more grateful. I'll definitely be coming back, hopefully that girl is there, shes responsible for the best experience I've had here.

Great food and beer.  I like there grilled cheese sandwich and pizza, but there anything chicken I recommend against; way over cooked, super dry.  All around pretty good

Maybe I'm a little biased because I work nearby, but I love this place! Actually, I'm not biased! There are a TON of bar/restaurants in PB and I choose to eat and drink after work here because they are awesome! Everyone is super friendly, I am not a beer connoisseur at ALL, and they have NEVER gotten annoyed with my indecisive, taking forever, asking tons of questions ordering. (which I know IS is annoying!) And IMO, the food is better than standard bar fare. The chicken is free range, the BEST fries, if you like garlic, their hummus plate app is SO good! And they always have specials that aren't on the menu. I actually find myself craving their antipasto salad on the weekends. I do wish they had some more dessert options, cause I have a sweet tooth, but I've tried some of the best beers I've never heard of, Its clean inside (I love a dive bar, but I don't want to eat in one!) everyone is friendly, and they deliver, too! Just wanted to put the word out! If any pb locals or visitors haven't tried the tap room yet, It's pretty much the perfect little neighborhood bar/restaurant.

Food wasnt my favorite but I had takeout. I actually didnt like it too much, and the manager was very nice about it, I really appreciated his customer service in addressing the situation. Based just of their customer service, I'd go back for drinks and try something else. Customer service is forgotten a lot these days.

Love this place! The food is always great. From the pizzas, to garlic knots, to salads and mac n cheese, I always have great things to eat here. A slice and a beer is my favorite. If I'm with just one other person I'll sit facing the outside and people watch as I chow down. If I'm with a group, there's always plenty of room in booths or at tables in the back.

Next, the beer selection=awesome! I love the Lil Devil, but I do make an effort to try a new beer each time I go. They're known for their beers (clearly, the name is Tap Room after all), and they're constantly circulating new ones. It's a tough toss up, but I think I may come here for the beer than the food. Regardless, I always end getting both.

For all of you silly people reading this who are Clemson fans, you've found your new home. As a huge South Carolina fan, I can't step foot in here during football season when the games are on, but I do enjoy marching there after we beat some Tiger Tail every Thanksgiving!  In all seriousness, Tap Room is a great spot and everyone should check it out!

Came here on vacation and my boyfriend and I decided to do their first Wednesday pub crawls where there are free shuttles.

Their list is huge, and I loved how fun the atmosphere was. Our waitress was really nice and attentive.

The food is just okay to me. I wish they had some more selection. Everything seemed too bready and run-of-the-mill. I wish they had more sharable items like potato chips or something.

PS: If I trained at the Crossfit next door, I'd get hammered everyday!

Pros: Beer selection, food is amazing, typically pretty great service
Cons: It's usually packed because of the Pros.. so you may have to wait a little bit to get seated. Well worth it! My personal fav.. BUFFALO FRIES!!!

The Tap Room is pretty bomb with all the beers they have on tap. Its the number one reason I like going there. I like San Diego and all the micro brewing going on around here and around the USA. They have beers from all over and a great selection. I would say if you wanna have a good beer of try some new ones this is a great place to go.

Gotta say....they make a great Meatball Parm sammy!!!!! (add some grilled onions and shrooms) And...have had some great Casks on tap recently. Taco Tuesday is also underated here!  Also, the nicest, most beer knowledgeable and, shall I say, best looking gals on Garnet!

Went to this place while in PB one day. I had the green apple salad with walnuts and the humus plate. It was so good I ordered the lobster Mac and cheese and some bread. I gotta say that the lobster Mac and cheese is one of the best I have had. I live in Chula Vista and will definitely make the treck to Pacific Beach 35 minutes away just for this dish and the awesome amount of craft beers on tap. Great service, beer and food. You are now in my bookmarks. Thank you.

Went to the Tap Room for more drinks after a birthday party in PB. They have an awesome selections of craft beer as usual.

BOOZE: I tried the Hyperion Stout on tap for the first time, pretty good stout. GRUB: They had a Taco Tuesday menu that day so I ordered a calamari taco and a carne asada taco. They were bland and dry, so nasty! Well, lesson learned! Will get pizza next time!

This place is great, I've been here a bunch of times and haven't had a bad experience. They've got a good selection of sandwiches, burgers, and really good pizza and tons of beers on tap. The best thing about it is probably the rotating beer list, always a good selection no matter what you're into.

This place is a great place to watch sporting events, they have TVs all over the place and a big screen in the back of the restaurant, there's not a bad seat in the house. Parking can be tough because it's PB but when you're in a popular area and have a popular restaurant what can you expect. Go check it out!

Good pizza (being from TX, we had to try the bbq chicken pizza,) We had some very cold beer along with our pie on an open patio, and I can't think of a better "first meal" in San Diego.

We went into this bar for a Boston bruins game when we were clearly not in Kansas anymore. Anyway our bartender, Kimberly, took great care of us. She recommended drinks, put on the game and was really friendly. I would go back there just to see Kimberly alone!

Came here for a beer with my co-workers on a weekday evening.  Pretty chill place and they have tons of craft beer on tap! I had some Pliny the Elder.  We also ordered their Deluxe pizza, was really, really good.  The ingredients were fresh and the slices were pretty big too.  Even with 5 of us, and we still couldn't finish the whole thing.  It's also a pretty family-friendly place - I saw plenty of parents and families having some dinner there.  The staff was also very prompt and attentive.  Looking forward to coming here again!

I have come to the Tap Room with my partner-in-crime Mel C and Scruffy twice in the past weeks, and both times we were pleasantly surprised by the FOOD! Despite of its grungy look, Tap Room actually is a great to hang with friends on a chill evening. We have tried everything from the seared tuna, lobster mac n cheese, to pizzas, and all exceeds our normal perception of 'BAR'-F food. I highly recommend this place to fellow locals.

I've had the devil of a time trying to find a sports bar in San Diego that carries MLS games. There's lots of soccer bars (Shakespeare, Latitude 32, Princess Pub, O'Briens, etc. etc.) but they're all focused on Premier League and international games.

On Saturday I went to the Tap Room to try to catch the Real Salt Lake - Sounders game because it said on their website that they had MLS Direct Kick. They didn't and I was sad. I stayed to watch a basketball game I was interested in (and also because they had one of my favorite beers on tap), but when I left, I left them a note that said I would be there every Saturday and sing their praises on social media if they picked up Direct Kick.

Today, Mike, the apparently kick-ass manager, called me (I had left my phone number) and said he got my note and bought a month subscription to Direct Kick. !!!!!!!!!!!!

So - The Tap Room gets five stars for being the kind of place with this great of customer service! Also, pretty decent (if pricey) food and an extensive and thoughtful (if pricey) beer list!

Ended up here on a Saturday afternoon/evening after missing out on a Stone Brewery tour. All I wanted was some great craft beer, and I got exactly that at The Tap Room.

The space is pretty generous for a bar, and is more restaurant-sized than anything. The TVs are huge and are well-placed, and when I wanted March Madness it was on. The waitress was very nice and prompt and I felt that I was attended to.

They have a great rotation of beers on tap. Make sure to order the flight of beers(6 6 oz. samples of whatever beer you'd want to try). I tried Horny Devil, Red Trolley, Speedway, Nectar of the Hops, West Coast IPA, and Hoppy Daze. Somehow that combination of samples got me buzzed for about 3 hours.

I ordered the Chicken Parmesan Sub and was pleasantly surprised. Not only were the portions big, but the fries that came along with my order were addicting! If you really want to save money  I'd order a side of fries and one of the appetizers. Then you can have a choice of your drinks.

No complaints about this place as I had a great time.

    Atmosphere: 8/10

    Service: 8/10

With taps for Pliny the Younger coming to a close, I had to take the opportunity to hit up The Tap Room to get my first taste of one of the most talked about beers in recent memory.  It's quite a drive from where I live but it's in a prime location located in Pacific Beach.

The place is actually quite roomy, with many tables out there.  On this day, it was pretty packed due to the release of Pliny the Younger, that was to be served at 5 pm.  The offered tickets of one drink per person, which seemed fair although I wish I could have gotten a second glass!

Oh about the beers, they offered my favorites, Pliny the Elder and Enjoy By from Stone Brewing Co. so they've got all the heavy hitters here.  Definitely a cool place to visit.  I did get an order of the truffle cheese fries and they were amazing!  It comes with a side of garlic aioli, which complimented really well.

the place is def good for beer.. parking around the area isnt too difficult also.

i got a delicious calzone once and my boyfriend got a pizza.. dont remember which one, but we both almost finished all of our foods (we usually do left overs)  // I wouldn't recommend the garlic knots... i didnt think they were that good.. it wasnt even too garlicky..

the chili was superrrr yummy. so i dipped the knots with the chili to give it more flavor..

they also have food specials, which come out all fancy.  its huge portions but pricey.

they have lots of tvs so of course coming here to watch a game is fun.

Ive been here twice.. and the waitress once was not that nice. but i mean it was busy.

however, i jsut remembered the second time, it was also hard to get the waitress' attention.. so just remember to be patient.. i suppose..

This is one of my favorite places to eat in PB! The beer selection is very good and you really can't go wrong ordering anything off the menu. I love their sandwiches. My favorite is the Turkey Sub or the Italian Sub. The sandwiches are huge and delicious. Perfect for sharing. I also love their chicken tenders! So simple but delicious. And of course you can't go wrong with their pizzas either!

The service has always been very good. It seems as though everyone does a good job at working together as a team. Food is fast and I've never left hungry or disappointed.

The ONLY downfall of this place is that it can get a bit noisy. The food is amazing, but this place is still a bar so it can get pretty rowdy when there's a big game on TV or during a rush. There are a few booths where there's a little bit more privacy but all of the other seating is all together near the bar, which is when it can get loud.

I love coming here and have a lot of respect for this establishment. You can tell they take good pride in the food the serve and the beer they offer.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place considering how often I come here!

LOVE this place. It's only downfall is that it closes at midnight! They have a GREAT selection of beer and i always end up getting a flight to share. You can choose 6 diff kinds of beer and it's almost like a taster for beer. Never fails to get the buzz going.

Their food is ALSO very delicious. Esp for a bar. They have pizza salads pasta chicken. I'm pretty sure I've had all of it and I've never been disappointed with their food here. Their service here is also amazing! Very attentive and friendly. Sometimes it can be a bit slow but considering how many people they have in here, it's pretty good. It can be hard to get a table sometimes bc it gets pretty crowded. Sometimes it's seat yourself when it's more on the empty side.

I love this place and always bring my friends here when they visit just for some drinks and a bite. It's close enough to all the other bars on the strip here so parking isn't as bad here. I'm know I'll be back. If you haven't tried this place, you're missing out!

I can't say enough about Taproom.  I love this place.  It's nice to have a decent bar with good beer, atmosphere and staff in the PB area.  The food is good (though I'd avoid the carne asada mac n cheese :/).  Try the beer soakers with pesto sauce.  It's legit.
It has a great atmosphere.  Plenty of places to sit, and it's open enough that you don't feel like you're on top of anyone.  It's the kind of place you can sit at the bar by yourself for a couple of beers and food before heading home from work.  You wouldn't  feel out of place doing that.
    Wings are great too.

I really like this place.  The food is great and prices are pretty reasonable.  They have great happy hour specials on food and drinks.  Some favorites are the calamari and giant pretzel.  Lots of craft beers and some of their mixed cocktails are pretty good.  It has a great vibe to it.

It IS a sports bar so just be aware that if there is a game on, it might be hard to find a table.

Reading these reviews makes me feel better... I'm not the only one who thinks the service SUCKS here!

Let me preface this by saying I am not a high maintenance customer.

I came here with 2 guy friends who both ordered flights. One flight was missing a sample, the other one came out 15 minutes after the first. I wasn't happy with my drink order and wanted to return it to try something else. I didn't touch my drink for half an hour and tried multiple times to get her attention. She was obviously and deliberately avoiding me, checking on every table around us and ignoring us all together.

Finally I told my guy friends, "Watch. I am going to go to the bathroom and she is going to come check on you." Sure enough, I was right. They asked for the check in my absence and when she came back to put the check down she might as well have chucked it on the table. She was gone before I could get a word in.

Luckily there was a comment card. I wrote an honest complaint, using our servers name, and gave it to the host. I hope the host isn't her bff and actually gave it to the manager...

GRRRRR. SERIOUSLY ANGRY THINKING ABOUT THAT BEEZY. Is it inappropriate to name drop servers on yelp???

    Sincerely,
    Disappointed.

The Tap Room. You weren't even on my bookmark list. I live a couple of blocks away from here, so I go by this place all the time. I've always looked at it as more of a bar than a restaurant, but I've had some of the girls at Split Ends Hair Salon mention to me that they have pretty good food here.

It was supposed to be a miserable rainy day, so I was planning on going somewhere a quick walk from me. I also wanted to be back in time to watch a game at 12:30. I was also in the mood for some good garlic fries.

I called in my order for a Mushroom Swiss Burger and a side of garlic fries. I think they just charged my a little extra for the side of fries upgrade as opposed to the full $6.50 garlic fries appetizer. The fries they gave me were smothered in garlic. I ate all of them before the burger. There was a nice puddle of garlic at the bottom of my container. There was some commercial on TV, and I think the vampires were running away from me. Good deal with the garlic. The burger was plenty tasty too.

When picking up my order, I also noticed that the pizza slices to go looked really tempting. I might be back here to try the pizza. It's also a pretty nice little bar inside, and there are some really attractive girls working here.

I went here on a Sunday Night during the baseball playoffs, and Sunday Night Football.
I thought the service was good, and the pizza was great.  What I liked most about this place was the ability to watch everything within eye-level.  There were a couple of baseball games on, and the football game.
    I'll be back!

Being generally averse to being on PB and to going to PB bars, it took me a little while to get here and longer to consider what to say about it.

Now, having partaken in the Pacific Beer spirit, I am more comfortable with this.

Part of the 4 stars is that it is actually a bar worth going to in PB if you are not underage. The tap selection is very very good and the service is solid, informative, quick, and happy.

The food?  Well, it is OK. Certainly worth 3 stars, but not much more. I would avoid (and this goes for any restaurant) anything Taco Tuesday themed that is NOT served every day of the week, or at least within the spectrum of their regular dining offerings.

In short, go for the beer and the service, not the food.

Best place for Beer in PB.

I have to say this past visit impressed me.  I have always thought the food here to be okay, nothing spectacular but this last time I went i was impressed.  I ordered the penne with pink vodka sauce and it was 100 times better than I remember it being. Also the service was great and as always thebeer selection is on point.
I do enjoy this bar the most for the PB area.
It has a great atomosphere for watching your facvorite sports and pleanty of TV's to watch them on.
    Check it out!

    Loves it!

I have dined here twice; but I'm a huge fan of the delivery. It's great to have an alternative to the normal crappy food that gets delivered. So major pluses for that! Most of their salads are fantastic. My favorite being the Greek salad with either; shrimp/chicken.

Brian has actually taken my delivery orders most of the time, very nice and always accommodating to my high-maintenance requests. Didn't make me feel bad about it at all! They always say the deliver time is about 30 min, it's always faster. This last time took 10 min.

The one time I dined here with my Mom was a great experience; the door guy was super friendly. Carded my Mom and made her feel all giddy and stuff (she doesn't know that most bars card everyone these days, haha). He was very helpful to us until the waitress arrived. Our waitress Shannon took great care of us. Our wines where house, but still great. I loved that a beer place also had a decent selection of wines! Thank you from a wine-o.

Had the hummus, one of the better hummus appetizers I have tried. Greek salad for me, always great. Tortilla soup and cheesy garlic bread for the Mom's. Next time I eat here I think I'll be a bit more adventurous! Regardless it was great food.

Can't say I have ever been here for the drinking, or night life. I'm not a beer enthusiast so it's not that appealing. But I might try it now, and be the un-cool kid in the corner with the wine. :-)

Love it for the food, wine, friendly service, and the delivery!

Husband and I went on a very busy Sat night. Our server was very sweet but she forgot lots of things on our order and our drinks and food took forever to come out. It was very busy that night, but still, service was a little ridiculous.

We ordered the chicken pesto pizza at our server's recommendation (we are from out of town and wanted to know what was good). We were very disappointed. You couldn't taste the pesto and all the toppings tasted like they came out of a can. And the crust tasted like cardboard. It was really gross.

On the upside, they do have a great draft list. Very impressive selection. And all the beers in the flight we had were very good. Too bad they forgot to put 2 in there :/

Let me tell you a secret, Pliny gets tapped on Sunday. OK so I decided to cry in my Horny Devil, Speedway, Double Jack and 10 Commandments.

Horny Devil Pours a beautifully clear golden color. Starts with a nice bone white, tightly bubbled head, but the retention and lacing are subpar for the style where these things are prized. Very fruity and spicy, pears and tropical fruits. A simple tasty Belgian strong 89 point Pale Ale. 11.00% ABV

Double Jack built by Firestone Walker Brewing Co.- Pours a hazy golden-orange color with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down fairly slowly leaving behind some nice lacing. The aroma is big and boozy with lovely wet floral hops. An excellent sipper. American Double Imperial, 94 point IPA.  9.50% ABV

10 Commandments from The Lost Abbey. The color was of an medium dark amber brown and a fair amount of lace. The smell of roasted malts and spices was evident in the aroma. The taste of roasted malts and spices was also evident, along with a sweet candy finish. Not a lot of alcohol kick back in the finish. It has a lot of good well balanced flavor. Belgian Strong Dark Ale. 88 points. 10.00% ABV

Saved the best for last, AleSmith Speedway Stout. AleSmith Brewery is one of my favorite breweries. Speedway Stout is pitch black, completely opaque, and is topped by a chocolate head of foam. The aroma is fresh brewed coffee. The taste is dominated by chocolate and coffee notes that are enhanced by the well hidden but noticeable  booziness. This excellent Imperial Stout is 97points. 12.00% ABV

And Tuesday is $2 tacos and HH deduct $1 off your beer. This house and Dana has your Wants and Gots.
