I came here on a weekend, and was greeted and seated immediately. The beer was good, but the wait service was extremely slow. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich (around $10), which was dry and tasteless, without any buffalo sauce on the chicken.  I ended up just removing the chicken from the bread and using a fork to dunk it in ranch. I did not know that buffalo-style anything could be this bland.

Improvising in order to make one's dish edible is pretty sad. At least I had enough beer to get me through the slow service.

This place gives decent portions on the weekdays, but on the weekends, beware. A dozen microscopic specks of mollusks are supposed to pass as steamers. Very poor and patheric. The chef was unapologetic and made no effort to right the situation. We've been loyal customers but will not return.

Went to Seabright and had their ipa and fish and chips, both were excellent. Also, both inside and out on the patio were very comfortable. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Dropped in here with the family.  Good beer. Good service. Good food!  Had the Gilroy burger with garlic and Gorgonzola cheese. Amazing!  One of my favorite sayings is that you can't have too much garlic, but the garlic fries put that to the test.  Almost as much garlic as potatoes! Great stuff!

    I'll be back!

Great beers, dog friendly out on the patio. Friendly service too. We brought our little 150lb puppy and they put us in a shady spot with some water bowls.

Another one of my adventures in Santa Cruz :) Great Service, wish I could remember my servers name, anyhow...he was great! My 1st visit here over 4th of July weekend, had the shroomer, tasted like any other burger, fries were great and my soup was super yummy, which shocked me, because I had never heard of tomato clam chowder before. I definitely was NOT a fan of the tables and chairs, only because they were warped and wobbly, and my kids were having really hot chocolate, which was a little scary! But they made it out without any 2nd degree burns, and ill definitely try it again when I'm back in Santa Cruz! :)

The perfect place to hang out after beaching it up all day.

After playing around in the beach and exploring the pier, we decided to chow down here and try their beers. They have such a wide selection, so it was a hard decision to make. I picked out a pitcher of:

Oatmeal Stout - Smooth, creamy and mildy sweet with hints of chocolate and coffee flavors. GABF gold medal winner 1992, 1993, 1995; silver medal winner 1997, 2006. Approx. 6% alc/vol.

Doesn't that just sound amazing? I didn't know there were beer competitions until that moment.. and this one sounds like a winner 5x. It's a lovely dark ale with a slight coffee/chocolate aftertaste.. very yummy! A pitcher is good enough for about 4 people! Don't we what we did and split it among two.. you'll get drunk really fast!

Along with that pitcher, I ordered the appetizer: Salmon bites surrounded by panko bread crumb batter over a citrus coleslaw. On the sides, there's a spicy teriyaki garlic chili sauce (addicting!), and a sesame-wasabi tartar sauce (not a wasabi fan, so not my cup of tea). So good, so filling.

My friend ordered The Heartstopper burger which was shared since we were afraid of the consequences. This huge thing came with sauteed mushrooms + onions, BACON, onion rings, cheese served on a JALAPENO cheddar bun + hot wing sauce. If that description doesn't make you drool, then I suggest you try it. I had just a portion of it and I was stuffed.

Overall, I got a nice buzz and good food from here :) Give it a try!

I went here on the 4th of July. The kitchen was closing in 10 minutes when we got there but they still let us order food, which was super awesome! since we were hungry! I ordered the calamari steak sandwich. It was good, not too chewy.

The only good thing about Seabright are their Seabright fries: potato wedges with cheese and sauteed onions. The beer wasn't great and the service was absolutely terrible. We waited over 30 minutes just to put our order in and almost 45 minutes from the time we finished eating until we got the check.

I came here for lunch. The service was good and the server was friendly. There is outdoor and indoor seating. We sat indoors. This review is for food only. I've had the beers here and they're very good.

I ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad. It arrived pretty quickly but the chicken was warm, so I was okay with the speediness. The issue is that the Chicken Caesar Salad was horrible. The chicken had no flavor. The dressing had no flavor. The serving was huge, which is a good thing. Unfortunately, it was all lettuce and only a rabbit would eat that much bland flavored lettuce. I left half the lettuce on the plate.

I hear there is an awesome happy hour here and their beers are always good but I think I'll steer clear of ordering any food.

It's somewhat disconcerting when a restaurant can't give a simple Caesar salad some flavor. Time to upgrade to larger amounts of grilled (and seasoned) chicken and upgrade to a better (flavorful) dressing.

I was excited to come for their local tuesdays.  The beer and fish tacos were cheap but not good at all.  The place was dirty, sticky and service just okay.  The fish tacos filled the hole but the fish tasted more like fish sticks overloaded with lettuce.  I had the cream ale and it was not really creamy at all.  I shared a basket of their "award winning fries" to me they tasted like precooked frozen oven fries reheated.  I do not plan to return.

Must be the best of the local breweries if you're looking to sit outside on a sunny day, have some food and drink some decent-to-plus beers. My wife and I go for the hoppy stuff, so the Blur is our pick here; they've had other IPAs from time to time whose quality varied, so definitely get a sample or a sampler. The Sacrilicious is solid, too.

Far as the food goes, we've found no better chicken wings than here in Santa Cruz. Plenty saucy and spicy, a good number of 'em for the price you pay, nice chunky blue cheese dressing on the side. Some good salads, too, for those aiming to put more of the calorie allotment toward the beer. Reasonably kid-friendly -- they've got these packets of bendy sticks, waxy pipe-cleaners, almost, that'll keep the kids occupied for a bit.

Service can, like everywhere, be hit and miss; we haven't had any problems with rudeness, but when it's busy our pitcher has definitely sat empty longer than we'd have liked.

So: Hit Sante Adairius, if it's open, and you just want a good beer but not food and don't mind if your outdoor seating doesn't come with sunshine; if good beer + food + sunshine is your goal, head to Seabright.

It's usually pretty busy, but if The salmon fish and chips makes it soooo worth it and they accept dogs so it makes it easy for me to go to the beach with my dog and not having to leave her in the car if I want to eat at a good place.

Came in for dinner around 6, sat ourselves in the middle of the restaurant, and were served immediately. We had our drinks in about a minute and our orders taken right after. We ordered the fish tacos ( the deal of the night), and the calamari appetizer.

I am not exaggerating when I say that the calamari was the best I have ever had in my life. It was to die for.
Great service, amazing food, and affordable.

Pro Tip: Have a pint of the Blur IPA. Then have another, it is a brewery after all.

I would like to give this place one star but I enjoyed the appetizer plus they accept dogs on their patio. We ordered the fries with cheddar & mozzarella cheese. Absolutely amazing!! Our burgers, not so amazing. I got the pesto burger & my boyfriend got the Cali with an Amber Ale beer. My burger was so plain. It had absolutely no taste out of the ordinary. I just tasted regular gambler meat. My boyfriend said his burger was the same even though it had bacon & avocado. How can these burgers be so bland with all the toppings?! I ordered onion rings w/my burger. Each ring was drenched in oil/grease. I picked them up to dip them in my ranch and as soon as I bit it, oil dripped out covering my fingers. Gross! Also, no taste. I couldn't even taste the onion. I'm not very judgmental of food but I was just shocked in my dishes ordered.

Also, we decided on this restaurant because the reviews seemed amazing. People said the waiters were very dog friendly & kept treats in their pockets. This is not the case. Our waiter ignored our dog. I asked for a water bowl and I had to ask our waitress for a second time and still didn't get one. We finally asked another employee & finally got a water bowl. So if you're looking for a restaurant where your dog will also get some attention, this isn't the place. If you just want to go & let your dog sit next to you, then this place is ok.

On a recent road trip with some friends to Santa Cruz we stopped by Seabright Brewery to get digest dome tasty bites and some good beer. Seabright did not disappoint! We all chose to try the beer sampler and it was delish. I kept it pretty basic when I ordered here to play it safe which was a cheeseburger. Overall came out hot and cooked to order. The customer service could be a little bit better overall, but I plan on coming back in the near future!

Was at seabright and everyone wanted to come here so we walked over here.. waited about 30-45 min and finally got a table. The service was slow but friendly. We got onion rings & ciabatta bread for appetizers. The onion rings were really good and this is coming from someone who doesn't like onion rings.. at all. The bread was really good but I'm a huge bread fan and basically any type of bread would make me happy.

I got the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was awesome. Buffalo chicken tenders that were spicy but not covered in sauce and super messy with some gorgonzola cheese.. very gooood! The table got a mix of things from burgers, tuna melt, fish and chips and everyone loved their food.

We will def be back! Next time I just hope the wait isn't as long and the service is a little faster.

Original owners for 25 years, they are honest, good hearted and much beloved of the neighborhood. I would highly recommend this spot for dog owners as well behaved pets are allowed on the patio and water bowels are provided. My favorite things on the  menu are the Blackened Salmon Spinach Salad, and the rotating handle of beers and tasty ciders.

The good first. I love being able to sit outside and I am happy with there large outside seating and they didn't crowd the tables too close like other places do. The service was pretty good too. The beer was really good however that was my first beer in 6 months so I may have been a little more excited about it then normal but I really like "the blur" I think it was called.

The Not so good but still not bad. The good is nothing to get too excited about. I wasnt a fan of their garlic cheese fries at all. Too much garlic. and the rest of the food wasn't bad but nothing special.

Bottom line Good place to go for drinks and fried food with friends.

Dinner here for a party of four proved to be a thoroughly miserable experience: the hot chocolate had dry clumps (powdered, I guess); the blackened salmon salad [with pistachios, dried cranberries, feta, spinach, and bread -- errgggh. In what world do those all go together?) included a badly over-seasoned, over-salted, REALLY lousy piece of salmon, and a basic burger entree was meat, one wilted piece of lettuce, a sliver of onion, a sad bit of tomato, and six onion rings. Three out of our four diners were really grossed out and would have sent the meals back if it hadn't taken 35 minutes to get them in the first place [the fourth pronounced her salmon fish and chips as 'excellent'].

Also? The beer was flat-ish and watery.

But - the waitstaff was upbeat and cheerful all around, even though they were slammed.

I think you come to hang with your buds, or after a long day at the beach, but I would not suggest it as a an actual place to, you know, EAT.

Great place, good atmosphere but the beer is terrible. I dont understand how they have been brewing for so long and the beer still has an ass taste. There are far better breweries in the area that know how to brew beer. Other bummer is that they have the only beers on tap at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center so I have to buy another beer in the bottle

My office had a belated Christmas party here and we absolutely loved it.

Firstly, we sat outside, as a band was playing (they didn't sound half bad!), but we wanted to be able to converse without screaming at each other. It was a cold December evening, but the patio heaters kept us rather toasty! The patio itself is nice, as it rises a bit from the road, so you have a bit of distance from the passing pedestrians and cars.

The alcoholic beverages were good, as well. I don't remember which ones I had, or how many, or how much they were, but I remember them being good. Yes, I'll be honest, I got drunk. But that means they were worth it, right...? Well, it does to me! Haha. Oh yeah, and the food was good, from what I remember, as well. I had a burger of some type. I think it was a buffalo burger or something. But I remember being pleased with it, as well as the fries.

Another awesome part was Hunter! Hunter is a cat from one of the houses nearby and apparently is a regular at the outdoor patio. He hung out with us for awhile, and was an awesome addition to the group.

All in all, it was a great Christmas party at the Seabright Brewery, and I will definitely return here on my own in the future.

Seabright Brewery is such a great place in Santa Cruz. It is always nice to head into a Brewpub because it is one of the only places that you can get fresh beer that has been recently brewed.

One of the special things about Seabright is that they consistently have live bands and dancing.

There is plenty of tables but make sure you know if you are going during one of its busy nights because it does fill up pretty quickly.

I have tried all the beers here and I think my favorite has to be the Seabright Amber. Though the other beers are also top notch. What is one of the most unheard of things that Seabright does is offer the opportunity to buy a Growler of whichever beer you like for only $13!!!! If you have ever bought a Growler from another brewery you will know exactly why.

Don't waste a penny on this place.

Not once but TWICE have they put meat on my VEGAN dish after specifically requesting VEGAN.

They told me they would credit my account with the money within 24 hours and they never did. I even called them after a couple days. They said they fixed it. They were wrong.

The food is greasy, heavy, low quality. Always makes me feel sick after eating it. Their prices are unbelievably expense given the fact that the food sucks, the staff is always preoccupied talking to each other, and the cooks will screw up your order especially if you request something specific.

There are better places to grab a beer and watch sports. Please heed my words of caution and take your money and your stomach elsewhere.

I've been here several times during my visits to Santa Cruz. Their burgers are fine and their fries and beers are good. Not the best place to eat, but a good option if you want casual food and some sports on the tv.

However, today's experience was pretty terrible. The weather was nice and our group sat on the back patio. Our waitress came back with our water and took our order. She brought over the drinks and we never saw her again. She never checked on us, which normally probably wouldn't be that bad, but it was a warm day and I drank up all the water at the table. She didn't come back once to refill the water.

Then, my friend who ordered a salad with chicken never got her chicken on her salad. We tried to flag down our waitress, but she never came near our table. Finally, my friend talked to another guy and he said he'd put the order in for a side of chicken. Well, it never came and my friend was over it.

We asked for our bill when our waitress came by later and she asked if we ever got the chicken. We said "No," and then she proceeded to come back with the bill where my friend was charged for her salad. We asked the waitress if she could take the salad off the bill since it was half-eaten and the order was never corrected. The waitress seemed put off by it and made a big deal of it rather than apologizing for the mistake with the order.

Needless to say, we paid our bill and didn't leave a tip. I don't think I'll be returning to this place again. The food might be decent, but there are plenty of other places around that have better food and better service.

Came here to try some brews on Labor Day weekend. Surprisingly not busy for a Saturday afternoon. Scored a table to seat all 6 of us and browsed the menu.

I would like to note that this review is for their BEER only. We did not have food as we were going to dinner elsewhere.

Our server came over and explained the beer selection. We all took a moment to decide and then ordered. I had the Say Hey Wheat. My dad had the Oatmeal Stout. My sister had the special which was some kind of Pale Ale.

The Say Hey Wheat was decent. I actually really liked the Pale Ale. Tried my dad's Oatmeal Stout and it was pretty decent as well.

I had an ok experience here. Service was ok, beer was ok. Everything was ok. I would come back to try their food and partake in their specials if I lived closer. Overall, A-OK and worth checking out for sure.

If you're looking for a place to relax, this is it! The beer is yummy, they have a locals' night, good tacos on Tuesdays and a complete bonus here .... dogs are allowed on the patio!

I never come here expecting fast service, when I called the other day to see how long the wait was the gentleman on the other end of the line said "At least 10 minutes, but we can put a beer in your hand while you wait." Problem and solution presented in the same sentence? I like!

If you have a dog, you like beer and burgers make it onto your "must eat" list, I recommend this place. Keep in mind you'll be paying $9-$15 for a large yummy burger, enough to split.

+ great happy hour, + delicious appetizers and sandwiches, + super fresh fish, + great micro brews

Seabright Brewery is one of our favorite hangouts in Santa Cruz in particular during happy hour. By then all appetizers are half off and a pitcher of beer is available for $7!

Moreover the food is decent and I highly recommend the baked brie, which is just a delight! Besides, their sandwiches are tasty and their fish always super fresh.

During summer months the brewery can be packed over the weekend, but during the week you should be able to get a table on the large patio or inside in a bit.

If you like beer try their 'Seabright Amber' and if available their wheat beer.

Happy Hour: $5 appetizers, $7 pitchers, $3 tacos
Average price for an entrée: $10

Starting with the good. The service was good. If only there was a way to get service without any food! The seating was okay, too. That's all for the good team.

To begin with the food, I didn't like the beer. Say Hey Wheat was nothing like my favorite Hefe. Maybe it's a different style than Hefe, I don't know. But I hated it. Cider on tap was Lemon and tasted like made of concentrate. Fish in fish-n-chips was fried in old oil which unmistakably revealed itself in taste. And I don't know how you fry pieces of squid so that it tastes like anything but fried calamari. Cutting it in bug chunks, and keeping it not long enough in the same very old oil will probably do the trick.

Never coming back even if chased by zombies in that direction.

It took 15-20minutes before we got any service to even ask what we would like to drink which is ridic to me when it comes to customer service at a restaurant. How do you expect to retain customers if your customer service is lacking? I guess it doesn't matter when 90% of your customers probably only go there to get drunk.

When we finally got service we ordered beers, the one my bf wanted was out so he had to settle for something else. I got the cream ale which was decent but nothing mind blowing and he got the stout which was okay but just tasted kind of bland but maybe that's because I had been sipping on the cream ale.

I ordered "The Gilroy" burger w/a turkey patty and the bottom was STALE. Disgusting. On top of that, the turkey patty was so dry. It was hard to eat. I ate half and took the rest home but let's be honest, it'll probably end up in the garbage. The only good thing on my plate which is why I'm giving two stars was the chiptole mac salad. I'm a sucker for anything chipotle so I had to try it. Also, their fries are good as well. I mean they should be considering they're "award winning" and all.

My boyfriend ordered fish and chips but what came was definitely not fish and chips. Just a panko battered filet of tilapia. As far as I know... that's not what fish and chips means. It was decent but definitely not what he expected/wanted.

Don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. I'll be sticking to the Parish if I'm in Santa Cruz and need a drink.

was there yesterday and had a very cute sweet girl outside who explained to us that someone had called in sick and she was extra busy and stressed.  Didn't show it at all, smile on her face and working hard.
went to the bar for some late nite dinner with my dad today and that fat bartender SUCKS!  Lazy as shit, really not many people around at all and he took his sweet ass time coming around even when he knew we were ready to order

Horrible, horrible, horrible - did I mention HORRIBLE?

I was out in Santa Cruz last weekend and what do I do when I visit a new city, every single time my friends??? I search for random beer and breweries. THIS IS NOT A REVIEW ON THE THEIR FOOD, THOUGH IT DID SMELL AMAZING!!!!

I found this place on YELP, and thought hey why not give it a try before my drive back to San Mateo.

We get seated promptly outside, my friend Paulina and I. We waited about 15 minutes or so before someone finally came up and asked us for our drink order. It was pretty simple, a 5oz sampler of every single beer you have.

We waited a good 25 minutes for the sampler to arrive and by the time it did the condensation that was once on the glasses was no longer there but at the bottom of each glass. So instead of having to wait another 25+ minutes to get another I asked for two big pints of ice, yes ICE FOR MY FREAKING BEER! Total PARTY FOUL!

Anyway, we ice the tray up, this didn't help ONE BIT! The beer still tasted like crap - every single one of them tasted horrible. Look, I hate to sound cocky but lets be real here, I have good taste in beer. I love everything from a random IPA to a good ol' Miller HIGH LIFE! Nothing was even close to the greatness of a highlife on a hot summer day!

No more complaining about the beer, lets talk the service. IT WAS SHITTY, I don't care if you're new or not - it was a Saturday, what manager in their right mind would put a new bee out on the back patio on a SATURDAY??? Well let me tell you who, the manager that asked me not to write this YELP, that's who. I do not threaten with yelps, I just told her that I had no choice but to yelp that my fellow readers need to know that they need to avoid this place like the plague, because quite honestly I cant be associated with such horrible beer, I had already checked in you know. OK OK OK it wasn't like that, but I was totally thinking it. It was more along the lines of, the service was bad the beer was warm and what does she do she offers a gift certificate to get me to come back and not to yelp.

It was awkward to say the least, I just complained about every single beer you offer on TAP and you want me to come back - do you plan on brewing new beers? Do you plan on hiring new brewers? What is it lady because quite honestly I just cant foresee myself coming all the way back to Santa Cruz to enjoy anything from your establishment...

Whew, OK so if you're interested in good beer in the Santa Cruz area I highly suggest a random dive bar that carries other local micro brews on tap! I couldn't recommend one because I just needed to get out of Santa Cruz after this horrible adventure, but I am pretty sure there has got to be something in the area, that's better then this!

My friends and I decided to go to Santa Cruz for Cinco de Mayo weekend with the intention of returning to one of our favorite spots in town.....and boy did our love for this place renew tenfold!

We started the day with beer and margaritas. The boys got beer, the girls got margaritas. I would have gone for beer but I found the margaritas so addicting! Sadly, they ran out of strawberry, so my friend and I shared the $15 liter of peach and mango. Both were really delicious, blended!!! The liter filled 4 glasses, which is a great amount for what you pay.

I ordered the fish and chips, pretty good I must say! I like!

I love how chill this place is. It's an awesome place to hang with friends and have fun in the sun....pitcher after pitcher after pitcher.

On my visit to Santa Cruz, this was one of two brewery/brewpubs I visited.  I had borrowed a bicycle from the B&B we stayed in and spent a gorgeous morning trundling around town.  Around lunchtime, I made my way to Seabright Brewery.  This was a Monday, so it was fairly empty, though there were a few regulars.  All of the TVs were blaring various sports matches, which gave the place a strong vibe of "sports bar" (not really my bag).  Service was kind of lackadaisical.  Kind of seemed like everyone was on break or working on stuff other than serving customers.  Their ATM was showing some kind of error message, which I let them know about, but they didn't even check it out.

They don't do a beer sampler tray.  Instead they serve 4oz tasters for $2 (kind of pricey, me thinks).  I didn't try the food because everything seemed to greasy for me on that particular morning.  Beerwise, I tried a taster of their oatmeal stout (pretty good) and a pint of the Tres Cojones IPA (much better and a reputable IPA, even for a denizen of Portland like me).

Bottom line: this place is aw'ight, but I wouldn't make it a high priority on a visit to Santa Cruz.

Came here by accident after a long drive into Santa Cruz, and glad that I did.

First thing I noticed is how slow it was (we were the only people there) but when the bartender said they weren't open for 10 more minutes it alleviated my initial concern. Within those 10 minutes, it filled up decently for a Sunday mid-morning.

The Bloody Mary was good, and the vodka pour was GENEROUS to say the least. Spicy, flavorful, and oceanic - just what I look for in a Bloody Mary. I took it with a back of their "Morningwood ESB" and it was one of the best ESBs I have ever had. Not unpalatably bitter, with an aftertaste of hazelnuts. Crazy, but good = CRAZY GOOD. I ordered a full pint of it, I was so impressed, but unfortunately the bartender poured me an IPA which, while good,  was nowhere near as amazing as that ESB.

I ordered a Jalapeno burger (I forget their name for it) and my wife got the Gilroy. Both were cooked pretty close to what we ordered -- we like ours medium rare, and these were verging on medium (but it's hard to find a place in California that will intentionally undercook ground beef, even when requested). The toppings were outstanding, though, so more than made up for the done-ness of the meat. The jalapenos were fresh, not pickled, and slightly charred. The pepperjack was perfectly melted, and the aioli was killer. The bite I had of my wife's Gilroy (roast garlic and gorgonzola) was damn near a perfect bite. I would come back and order either of these burgers again, and OVER again.

The bartender was very friendly without being annoying. The decor was weird and kitschy, but I loved it. Hell, just seeing that they had a Bible and the 12 step guide wedged between a bottle of Jameson and a bottle of Bushmill's make this worth the price of a drink.

This definitely isn't snooty fine dining, so don't come here if you want a 30+ Zagat rating experience...  but if you want good beer, a stiff drink poured correctly at a decent price, and a great burger in a slightly weird atmosphere; this place is for you.
