Seagar's Prime Steaks & Seafood

Last night's dinner was nothing short of outstanding. From the very start of the evening, the wait staff was professional and courteous, and the atmosphere was comfortable.  The manager, Tia, was delightful. She was very personable and helped to ensure that our evening was perfect. The cuisine was magnificent. The "Seafood Tower" for example, was astonishing. It consisted of king crab, lobster, and shrimp, all of which were fabulously fresh, and were perfectly paired with a cocktail sauce and drawn butter.  I was so satisfied with my evening that I plan to return to Seagar's the next time I visit the Hilton at Destin, and plan on referring friends in the near future. Seagar's is an absolute must!

Best souffle in a long, long time. Real Dover sole-excellent. Fillet real nice. Great to have such a special restaurant with excellent wine list available at affordable prices.

We had previously visited for special occasions and gotten a booth for 2.  This time, even with a reservation we were on the bottom level and not as private.  The restaurant just had a major renovation and is very updated.  The Calamari appetizer was delicious and was the Caesar salad.  We could not eat all of our portions so we asked for the leftover Calamari to go.  They threw it away.  We also asked for or left over steak and lobster to go.  That we got, albeit grudgingly, as if no one ever asked for a "doggie bag."  I am petite and weigh just under 100 lbs.  I enjoy food, but I can't eat big portions. I rather sample many things and just take my leftovers for the next day.   We waited a very long time for sometime to give us a wine list.  Then a long time to take a wine order.  The wine list is on an iPad and the "Captain" was definitely not used to using it.  It was like they kept stalling to start our dinner experience.  It's o.k. if the staff is delayed and needs to buy time, but setting us up with wine and bread goes a long way.  We waited about 10 minutes with only water before we even saw a winelist, much less a menu.   It seemed like for the top dollar we paid, the meal was $360. including the $95 Cakebread Chardonnay, the service should have been much better and it seems like it was in the past.  I may try it again, but it'll be a while.  Maybe they have new kinks they are working out...but I could only give it 3 stars due to service not meeting the price point.
