"SERENITY NOW - insanity later"
Sorry I just cannot resist that Seinfeld quote every time I think of the name of this restaurant, my bad.
We bought a Groupon for Sunday Brunch for two for the price of one - so off we went. Â The restaurant is a nicely restored former home on the "Brick Street" in downtown Zionsville and was very comfortable and nicely decorated. Â They have quite a bit of seating outside which would be very nice in good weather. Â The service was very prompt and friendly.
The brunch consisted of a very tasty scone with dried fruits ,along with some delicious honey cream for dipping, as a first course. Â The main brunch was breakfast potatoes, a spinach and cheese quiche, a piece of "French Toast Casserole", a small serving of field greens with a very tasty sweet/fruity vinaigrette and a fruit cup.
The Good - the quiche was extremely tasty; the casserole was quite good as well, although it needed some syrup (about which more below); the salad, dressing, and the scone were also very nice. Â My wife had their house tea, an almond-cherry blend which I thought was very flavorful.
The Less Good - The breakfast potatoes were at best ordinary, not much distinction there. Â Why restaurants serve fruit cups using fruit that is not great is beyond me, but this is one - maybe in the summer the cups will be good. Â The portions for the price are a bit skimpy; we were eating for half price but I would have been a little peeved paying full price for what I got.
The Bad - when I go to an upscale eatery I should NEVER see "Mixed Fruit" jelly offered, and "industrial grade" syrup for the French Toast Casserole is just unbelievable - I mean "artificial and natural Maple flavor" was well down the list of ingredients.
My wife had eaten lunch here several times, and she enjoyed a lot, so I would probably give it 3 1/2 stars.
