Have been going to the Shack for 10 years and they have spoiled me! Whenever we go somewhere else we always find ourselves saying 'This isn't as good as The Shack" Best service in town, period! Great food, great atmosphere. Huge flat screens everywhere and always a nice lively crowd. The owners know what they are doing and they do it right.
Review Source:Definitely has the "regulars hangout" feel. We went on a Friday night and while it was semi-busy it wasn't packed. We got a seat right away. However, the service was terrible. Took forever for someone to take our order. Neither my wife nor I ever had our drinks refilled until we were ready to leave and the waiter just had an attitude that he could have cared less. Added to that, the prices were way too high for what you get. 2 Sodas, 2 Salads and Small Appetizer + tax and tip = $50. I think I'll leave this place to the regulars. They obviously see something about this place that I just don't get.
Review Source:This is your typical sports bar. Â The Caliente burger was good, but their open faced (red) chili burger was kind of dry . Â The portions are small since you don't get fries with the meal and they were still $8 burgers! Â A bit expensive, I think. Â Also, their happy hour prices were just 15-20% off, kind of odd.
Review Source:Great place to catch a game on the tv. I happened to go there during a Broncos game and felt the atmosphere to be appropriate without being too low key or too crazy.
Service was quick and attentive. We only ordered appetizers but I have no complaints on the wings or the nachos! It's your typical sports bar with tv's all over the wall carrying any game you want to watch. They are friendly to all teams outside of Denver as well! I saw quit a few Vikings and Packers fans coming in the door when the Bronco's game was over.
Cold, cheap beer.. great food and the "regular hangout" vibe is awesome.
The food is a bit overpriced if you ask me (8$+ for a wrap with no side), but the quality is very good. Â A great selection of burgers, wraps, sandwiches and sides.
The tater tots.... hot and crispy. Â The mozzerella sticks... big, crunchy and cheesy. Â Oh, so good.
I always look forward to my next trip there.
Went to the Shack on Wednesday night for a company happy hour. Â We had a large group that kept growing and our server Emma was never fazed. Â She took everyone's orders on separate checks and kept coming around to make sure we were all happy. Â We rearranged furniture several times and it was never a problem. Â Best of all at the end of night all of our checks were exactly right.
Located on the northwest corner of Broadway & Mineral this sports bar has been around a while and is better than ever. Â The Shack has a full bar, great food, and boasts a ton of new HDTVs for watching sporting events. Â Thought their unique twist on chicken wings was novel and they tasted great too.
My wife and I decided to go to The Shack to watch the BCS National College Football game. We had not been to The Shack in sometime and wanted to give it another go. Our previous trips would have this place closer to 3.5 or even 4 starts, but this last trip left such a sour note that we will not go back, period. We arrived just a few minutes after kick off and I went in to see if any tables were available and I was surprised to see 3 tables open. As I sat down one of the servers came up to advise me that the high top table was reserved. Of course the sign that had this info was not facing towards you as approached, so she turned it so that I could see the "reserved" part. Nice. So I asked about the two open tables just next to me and I was advised that those were being held for some trivia night folks. But she did kindly offer to hold one of them for me if they did not show in 5-10 minutes. Ok, I realize we were a tad late for kick off but I am avid fan of one of the teams playing, so I wanted to get in and seated and enjoy the game. Without a guarantee, 5-10 minutes more to wait was not acceptable when there was no one else waiting and tables open. With the game going and open tables reserved for patrons that were not there to watch the biggest college game of the year, we headed to another place and will not go back to the Shack. Good decision cause we had a great time enjoying the game at our next stop.
Review Source:My wife and I met friends at The Shack last Thursday night for dinner and although I've been there for lunch in the past, we found this a great place for good food at a reasonable price. Service was prompt even thought it was crowded. The portions are the right size, not "super-sized," which I really like. It was a little noisy because of the Thursday Night Football game, but folks were having fun and enjoying themselves. I highly recommend The Shack for good food, great prices and service.
Review Source:We went to have lunch and watch some football en route to the Chatfield Botanic Gardens. Â It was full but we got a table right away and loved the set up of the sports bar which had tvs all around. Â Every game was on. Â 4 stars for that.
Beer menu stinks. Â How about some microbrews? Â They have a fat tire on tap. Â Everything else was in the MGD, Bud domain. Â Very disappointing.
The food is below average. Â It has a "I was recently frozen before I was fried/cooked and put on your plate" kind of taste to it. Â
Fun place to watch a game but don't go for the food.
I have to agree with some of the reviews others have posted that this place has good food. I had the cuban which is on ciabatta and has spicy chipotle mayo with smoked pork and hame which was great. However $8.50 for a sandwich that doesn't include fries is pretty steep. We also had some hot wings which were good. Again good food but the price is a little high for what you get.
Review Source:The Shack is a great sports bar kind of place. Â There are TVs all around the room, comfortable seating (including some outdoor tables) and a bar area. Â
I visited with a group of about 10 others recently. The wait staff let us push some tables together, which was nice for a group event. Â Service was good, the food was good, and the atmosphere was OK too.
Why only 3 stars? Â I think the prices are pretty high. Â I got a mushroom cheeseburger and a soda. That was about $11..50 Â By the time I added on the tax and 15% tip I was pushing $14. Â And the burger did not include any side dish. While we will probably go back again I'll be watching the prices more closely next time.
I've been coming here for 20 years or so, and both the service and the food go up and down from time to time. I've given this cool and casual sports bar four stars because every visit over the last couple of years has been very pleasant and the food has been tasty. Next year might be five stars, or two - I'm really bad at predicting the future.
The Shack serves some very tasty burgers, a great Cuban sandwich, and some pretty darn good fries, with a cheery smile from pretty and friendly waitress Debbie (ask for her - she's the best). The beer selection is rather limited - Sam Adams, Newcastle, Heineken and the big three American breweries - I'd love it if they'd put something with a little more flavor and girth on tap, say Sierra Nevada Pale Ale or Bridgeport IPA.
While everything on the menu comes to your table at the proper temperature and is quite tasty, the REAL reason I keep coming back here with my family is the Garlic Wings - they are simply stupendous, dripping in homemade sauce created with way too much garlic. No worries about vampires for several days after a bucket of these delicious tidbits!
The staff will happily tune the TV nearest you to the event you want to watch, the prices are fair, the staff is generally cheerful, the owner is very pleasant, and there's no aggro from the other customers even if you're rooting for the other team.
The Shack is my favorite Littleton sports bar.
Five stars as a burger joint/sports bar successfully owning the only identidy of it's kind in the whole city.
Been coming to this place since it opened, tons of times. Â I think all I've ever gotten here are the burgers, especially the Doube Shack Burger, which may be the best in Denver. Â It has ample beef patties, excellent choice of cheeses to top it with, and for the piece de resistance, capped with a choice of a split Lousiana hot link or portuguese sausage! Â Crazy but it's so damn delicious. Â The accompanying fries are wonderful. Â Beer service is outstanding with a decent selection.
The main seating area is perfect for a burger joint. Â The low profile tables with wide, cushy chairs are ideally comfortable. Â Much of my college degree was earned on those tables, it's perfect for that on a mid-day weekday, you can get so much done (when it's emptier).
Outstanding place to watch the big game! Â Die-hard fans go here, the kind that make you feel as excited as you were as a teenager.
Great to watch local talent play too, saw a great cover-band here once sitting at the bar with a friend. Â It was packed and there were still a lot of families around, even down in front next to the stage where a couple of elementary-aged brothers were head-banging to a perfect rendition of Pat Bentar''s Heatbreaker. Â Not going to have that uniqueness anywhere else that I know of!
If you bring the family a word of caution: Â If you don't want them to get a huge lesson in how colorfully adults speak in a bar, don't sit in the bar area! Â I did that once with my daughter and truly regretted it! Â Goes hand-in-hand with that die-hard fan attitude, y'know. Â Thankfully though, they have a somewhat separated family seating area, away from the bulk of the action, not immune to it, but not uncomfortably vulgar either.
There's tons of seating room here and it does fill-up on weekends. Â Fun atmosphere, fun people, real people, great staff.
I have been going to The Shack since I was a very young child (back when the Marshall's next door was an AMC 4 and they offered free food with your ticket stub). Â
The Shack is a typical suburban strip mall sports bar. Â You walk in, seat yourself, and help yourself to the menus. Â The service here isn't awesome, but it is okay; sometimes it just takes them awhile to help you. Â
I really enjoy the food at The Shack. Â I love the Chicken Caliente sandwich and their seasoned french fries with ranch dressing. Â SO GOOD. Â Their hot dog with chili and cheese is pretty good too. Â Their cheese sticks are some of my favorites (and I LOVE cheese sticks...)! Â It can seem a bit pricey since they don't include french fries with their burgers, but I'm pretty sure you can add a side for just a couple bucks rather than ordering an entire basket. Â
The Shack offers all sorts of activities throughout the week such as poker and trivia. Â I always enjoy bars like that. Â They also have tons of screens with all of your favorite sports playing...so you won't be disappointed there.
One major drawback....Pepsi products. Â Yuck. Â
The Shack is definitely a place that I will keep returning to whenever I am home.
The Shack is (almost) everything I want in a sports bar.
Plenty of screens, with everyone very friendly and happy to get "your" game on a screen for you. Â This has been especially great for me, as I am often looking for Pac-10 college football games on obscure channels. Â
Food is pretty standard sports bar fare, but good --- especially the burgers with a linguica (spicy sausage) link
Family friendly, lots of folks bringing youth sports teams in, as well as the usual adult sports bar types
And, they're walking/staggering distance from my home, which is great for me... but I guess that doesn't necessarily help the rest of you out...!
They do have live music some evenings, which is my only (slight) negative in terms of the sports...
Love the Shack!
If you are looking for a nice place with a casual sports bar atmosphere check out the Shack! The other night I was not in the mood for burger or one of their roast beast specials and decided to check out the Tuna sandwich. Blackened and cooked to perfection this thick slab of tuna hit the spot. (Next time Tartar sauce on the side). I have also tried the salmon on rice which is a pleasant surprise. Who would have thought that a bar would have such great seafood!
The service in this place is also amazing and accommodating!
The Shack is the place! Check it out...
"we don't carry vegetables"
Wow! This may be one of the most fantastic dive bars ever. I asked for veggies with my salmon and was told "we don't carry vegetables". How awesome is that? Get ready to get your fried on at this little pub in a strip mall.
The drinks were cheap, as was the food. My chef salad (apparently they do not consider lettuce a vegetable) was pretty fantastic, way more toppings than lettuce.
They had no problem with us moving the tables around and creating our own little space. The server was pretty prompt and didn't nag us when we set up a table for 20 and only 10 showed up (but it wasn't busy, either). No hassle on separate checks, either, yay!
Good spot. I will definitely be back. Cheers to Dan for recommending this spot for the Twelve Drinking Days of Xmas!
I like supporting individually owned places. Â But the food here is nothing to write home about. Â The steak fries are the pre-cut frozen kind, and the hamburger patties are pretty small (also seem to be the pre-packaged frozen variety). I had the guacamole burger and it was kind of average. Â They are maybe a little better than Carl's Junior (I like Carl's Junior just fine for a chain). Â Overpriced really - I think I spent about $8 for the burger and fries? Â At least you can wash it down with beer, though nothing outstanding on tap either. Â I drank the Stella. Â There are TVs all over the place with sports as you would expect in a sports bar.
Review Source:OK, so take everything everyone else here has written and add this:
- OK for families. We took our two young kids on New Year's Day and they were fine. They have a kids menu and the food is OK. It's not overly healthy kids food -- grilled cheese and chicken nuggets -- but it will do.
The beer selection is good enough - not Old Chicago's selection but good enough. The atmosphere is pretty much suburban strip mall sports bar. Lots of TVs showing all the usual sports but it not overly loud and so tolerable when you're trying to hold a conversation.
They even have a few video games, if you're into that.
I recommend this place for anyone too tired to get dressed up and go for a better meal. Take the kids on a Friday night and just eat and relax. Get a burger and a beer and you're set.
I'm not a fan of sports bars, but I AM a fan of cheeseburgers. I'm also a fan of not battling traffic on a Friday night to go somewhere that may or not be good, so this is how I ended up at The Shack tonight. The place was packed, but we managed to snag a booth as soon as we walked in. And despite the fact it was busy, it wasn't at all noisy (the noise factor is probably the #1 reason for my dislike of sports bars. That and the fact they usually sell crap food, I guess).
The Shack offers your usual bar fare - wraps, salads, chili, a few pasta dishes, some deep-fried seafood and, of course, burgers! I decided on the Bacon Burger with steak cut fries (just under 9$) and he opted for the Caliente Burger with curly fries (same price). A pitcher of Stella was $8.50, which is a fair price imo. Although I'm pretty certain the patty was not a 1/3 pounder as claimed, and the tomato slice was an unappetizing orange/green color, I really enjoyed my burger. The bun was fresh and squishy, the meat was nicely chargrilled and not overcooked, and the amount of mustard, mayo and bbq sauce was spot on. I've got to say though that the bacon was absolutely effing amazing (thanks to David R's review of The Shack, I'll be hitting up Tony's Meats in the near future!). The fries were also delicious. He enjoyed his meal too, although he thought there was a little too much cracked pepper.
Ted's Montana Grill is still my favorite burger place in Littleton, but I would recommend The Shack for sure.
PS Â The info on their website is outdated.
The best thing that ever happened to the Shack was the state-wide ban on smoking in restaurants. Before that, I wouldn't set foot in this place because the air was unbreatheable. Â Once the smoke cloud lifted, I started eating here regularly.
It looks like your typical bar slash lounge slash grill with a lot of medium oak wood, sports stuff on the walls and numerous plasma TV's. Â Nothing really jumps out at you on the laminated menus, but that's the joy of this place. It's simple, unpretentious and cheap.
The burgers are fantastic as is their bacon. They get their meats from Tony's, which is all that needs to be said if you're familiar with them.
Last time there I had a chicken burrito, which was fresh but pedestrian. Â The guac was not made there, I can pretty much guarantee. Â Stick to the burgers!
Nice family hangout type place - The BBQ Chicken is excellent. Â A couple of College buddies got together and each opened up their own version of "The Shack" - three in Hawaii, two in California and one in Colorado.
They have free poker on Tuesday nights, staff is friendly and owner or family has been on site every time I've been in. Â That shows. Â Great place! Â Can't believe no one has reviewed this place before...
