Well, this place is a treat.
We stopped in for the lunch buffet...my advice is come hungry. I did and I left full.
The food was good, the service was great and the prices were fair. What more can you possibly ask for in a pub.
Their chips are F-ING amazing too!!!
This is a short review, but there is a lot of good to be said about Shamrocks. I have been back multiple times and I will be back many more.
It's been a year since this restaurant opened, and I've been there many times since then. The menu gets bigger and better every time. One great addition is the big wall of martinis - everything from Red Velvet martinis to traditional. I know you'll find at least a dozen you want to try!
We went on St. Patrick's Day, and they had great drink specials and a tent set up for fast service.
One new item on the menu that is very popular is the "horseshoe." It's two pieces of thick bread, your choice of meat (including lamb bangers and corned beef) covered with fries or chips, and their famous beer cheese sauce. Decadent and delicious!
Fish wasn't as big as stated from other patrons - but tasted good., and if you get Lindsey for a waitress, be prepared to not getting any service. She passed by us eight times before we could get her attention to help us. Convienently it was during happy hour with a total of eight tables. She felt more inclined to stay at the register and talk to the hostess. Food was decent and from what I can tell the rest of the staff is friendly. You can pick Lindsey out from the rest of the waitstaff, shes the one with the  very short haircut and not very attentive.
Review Source:Decided to try this place after a recommendation from a fellow Yelper.
Sean and I stepped in at around 8pm on a Thursday night. I saw from their website that they had karaoke on Thursdays and it is also Ladies' Night (never really understood those things, lol.) Â Also read up on their menu and saw that they had dessert martinis. Oooh, sounds good. So did the beer flights.
So anyway we arrived and there was literally no one at the host(ess) stand to seat us. We waited about 5 minutes and still no one. So we were like whatever and decided to pick a random seat. I also had to get up, go back, and grab menus. LOL so awkward. I happened to be wearing all black so I kind of looked like a hostess. More awkwarddd. But whatever.
Eventually a random waitress saw us and asked us what drinks we wanted. I ordered a beer flight. It's cool that you pretty much get to pick whatever beers you want in your flight from their menu, up to 4. And the flight costs $7.00. So I guess that's about $1.75 per little beer. I tried an apricot beer, two different pumpkin beers, and an oatmeal stout. The apricot was my favorite by far although the others weren't bad. I always get excited to try new beers.
I ordered the wee burgers which weren't really so "wee"....because you get four of them. So it's kind of a lot of food but I guess you are supposed to share it. Sean ordered a chicken sandwich with fries and an extra side of slaw. He seemed happy that their slaw is not vinegar-based but mayo-based. He loves creamy slaw like the kind they serve at Blue's City. I tried some and I determined it was a bit too sweet for my liking. He said it was alright but he wouldn't order it again.
My only gripe besides not being seated and hardly any water refills was how long it took for our food to come out. It was kind of a while. But the karaoke was entertaining and I was not super starved so it wasn't much of a big deal. But if I was starved I would have been pretty pissed. The food, however, was pretty good. The burgers were thick and juicy. The buns were plump and buttered as well as slightly toasted, mmm. No Heinz ketchup but oh well. I lived!
Service here was more like 3 stars for me but the food and drinks were about 4/5. Plus there was "entertainment" so to speak (the singers were all actually really freaking good!) so I gave them 4/5. Close to where I live so we will likely be back.
ALSO almost forgot, I got peanut butter cup pie to go. They do not make it in-house. But who cares? It was that good. :D
I am basing this review solely on the lunch buffet. Â I was totally disappointed with the value for the money - food was cold and so so, and after I paid the tip, I was out $13 and left still hungry.
The ambiance is nice - can't even tell it used to be Ponderosa inside - vaulted celing, hardwood floors, dartboards, lots of flat screens. Â I'm not a drinker, but I would imagine someone who was would find plenty to enjoy here. Â They have an expansive drink menu with prices listed clearly on each table which is nice.
The server was very friendly and attentive.
I might give this place another shot - but won't get the buffet again.
We visited at lunchtime on a Sunday, and it was moderately busy. Â Our server was friendly and attentive. Â Lots of tv's around, so it was great to watch the Cards, playoff hockey, and racing. Â The best part of our meal was the pretzel appetizer-3 buttery soft pretzels served with yummy beer cheese dip. Â So good! Â The rest of the food was just ok. Â But, the colcannon (a mashed potato-leek side dish) was disappointing. Â An Irish pub that serves instant mashed potatoes? Â It would be an easy fix to switch to real potatoes, and a huge improvement. Â All in all, we'll go back to try other items on the menu.
Review Source:They did a great job of cleaning up an old Ponderosa, but it is too clean and sterile for a "Pub." TIme will tell.
The food was mediocre, but this place has only been open a couple of weeks. They were out of 2-3 items we tried to order, so we didn't really get to try what we had hoped, but a fun trip none-the-less.
This place was out of our way so we won't go out of our way to visit, but I hope they do well, Saint Charles needs more family business like this! Good Luck Shamrocks!

Crap in a handbag. This joint has been open two weeks (used to be a Ponderosa), and the transformation is incredible. Clean, open environment. Two pool tables (not regulation), 14 stools at the bar, 11 four-person high-tops, 18 four-person tables, 3 dart boards and 9 televisions.
The bar is beautiful. It looks made from pieces of old homes . . . corner pieces (like from entryways), lots of aged wood and special hooks for purses!
I started with the special soup of the day: bacon & potato. Holy criminy -- was this delicious. I think it took me 30 minutes to eat this creamy, delictable soup that had shredded carrots, lovely bacon and wonderfully cooked pieces of potato for $3.99 a bowl. I thought I ordered a cup, but got a bowl. Yum, yum!
Nicole, my incredible server, offered a taste of the lamb stew, and she brought out a little bitty bowl full of wonderful treasures. It was meaty and lucious with a hearty broth, flavorful, rich and yummy!
I was thinking of an entree, but decided to ask Nicole what the chef would recommend. Fish and chips! Yes, that was what I was thinking!!
For $7.99 I got two huge pieces of cod deep fried in some crazy-ass batter of eggs, flour and other stuff. Thick, thick crunchy, crunchy, crunchy! Some woman diner actually came over to my table to ask about the fish and chips. I've never seen a fish batter like this before. It was amazing!! The tartar sauce was fabulous. I almost thought there were capers in it, but no. Nicole checked.
The chips were homemade potato chips. Lovely crunchy tasty deliciousness. Salted well, but not too much!
I was done. Nicole enticed me with dessert. So I got two orders of fried Oreos for my sons to-go. Each order was 6 beautifully tempura deep-fried Oreos. Very generous.
Two women dining in front of me had a pretzel appetizer, huge yeasty delicious-looking snack with cheese dipping sauce. And they had potato skins, which looked lucious. They asked for more sour cream, and it happened quite quickly! They were also drinking something that looked like chocolate martinis. Yum!! Vicariously, of course.
I had a lovely experience at Shamrock's. It was great people-watching, television (football) watching and ridiculously fabulous food!
Hooray for Shamrocks and Nicole, my incredibly fabulous server!!
First off- a shamrock has three leafs. Â It is not a four leaf clover, like the sign. That's something a Irish person should know! Â But, the interior is great. Shamrocks is as advertised-Pub and Grill. Â Waitresses wear short-short-short kilts. Â Shirts are tight and barely there. Â Kind of reminds me of an Irish Hooters. Â Most waitresses have tattoos. Â Not that tattoos are bad. Â It just most of the waitresses have them. Â So it seems like a purposeful direction the management has taken.
The food was okay.  Unfortunely they bring plates out one at a time.  One person at our table was done with their meal before the last person was served.  Each of the three tables around us all had some type of problem with either their meal or timing of service.  That could just be a timing issue the employees need to work on.
The manager was very hands on.  He visited our table many times.  But, he was also buying drinks for patons whose meals were messed up.
Shammrocks could be a really good establishment.  My suggestion would be for the waitresses to wear a t-shirt with the awesome logo that is on the menu.  Also have the waitresses forgo the  short-short-short kilts and dress in black pants.  Really, if they are a good waitress they don't need to show skin to get good tips.
Have the waitresses go through a little more training on how to service a table.  For example- have the food arrive at the same time.  And each person receive their order that they placed. Â
I really hope Shamrocks gets the kinks workd out.  It could be a great place.
