I have patronized this establishment twice now. The second time was Mother's Day. The first time, we experienced a long wait on getting our food, the coffee was cold but the service was friendly.
The second time, and this is on Mother's Day mind you, the service was friendly but ultimately forgetful. We had asked for silverware three times without getting it, I had to ask for a top off on the coffee numerous times and also needed to ask for the second half of my order (I ordered the 3-3-4 which is good). With time wasted, room temp food getting colder and growing frustration, we asked for boxes and checked out with the hostess. The manager did stop by with a rose for my fiancee which was classy but had he also given her silverware, that would have been top notch.
Bottom line: Don't come here if you are initially hungry, low on patience or not entertained by asking questions repeatedly. Good food though.
New place just opened up in the last couple weeks in the long vacant restaurant next to the Plaza Lanes bowling alley at Droste Rd and West Clay.
I can't recall what the last occupant of the space was, but the lobby was very nicely appointed, and looked like it used to be a bar - the bar is now devoted to hookah smoking; not sure how well that mixes with the diner fare, but with its proximity to the Lindenwood University campus it might bring some students into the place; although not really my cup of tea.
I stopped for breakfast this morning - the waitress was very friendly and outgoing, and I was waited on quickly, and received my food quickly as well. Â Standard breakfast fare - pancakes, bacon, and eggs - of decent quality at a reasonable price - $5.99 for 3 eggs, 3 bacon, and 3 really big pancakes,
According to the menu, breakfast is available anytime, and the lunch/dinner menu appears to consist of good old fashioned American diner fare. Â
The area really needed a place like this; give them a shot... I would have given them 4 stars, however, I was seated in the no-smoking section, and there was a strong cigarette odor in pretty much the entire dining room; they would benefit strongly from a better ventilation system, and I'm not sure that walking through a hookah bar and smelling the smoke from it would be too appetizing as you have to walk past the hookah bar to get to the dining area.
