Top notch, speakeasy-style saloon.  Some of the most knowledgeable bartenders I've had the pleasure of being served by.  Mixed a PERFECT Old Fashioned...right down to the cherries.  The huge ice cube in my Jameson on the "rock" was an excellent touch and I enjoyed a nice cold irish whiskey without a watered down taste.

I half expected to find a secret doorway leading to a room with bathtubs filled with gin.  Maybe I'll find it next time.

They do have a nice idea, but the lava lamps just made it look tacky. Kind of cool to have a nice hip looking place on the island, however! Never thought a place like this would exist on the island. Good drinks, good prices, but not so good music.

Headed to Sheffield's after a day of local perusing and initially I was a bit taken aback by the $3 cover and it all went downhill.  Inside it seemed like they were going for a clubby feel, but everyone was in super casual clothing.  The bar near the back only had two bartenders and the drinks were overpriced; I paid $14 for a beer and a mixed drink... I really wasn't impressed at all and would ask my friend to take me elsewhere next time I'm in town!

This is a great little upscale addition to the island life by Fernandina Beach. Sheffields is located in the Palace Saloon, and joined by 2 bars, the Palace Saloon and Uncle Charlies. Upon researching the web I'm now realizing I had unknowingly stepped foot into a place haunted by Charlie himself Brrrr...

It was the anniversary of Sheffields and the event was great! Awesome mixes by an LA DJ and the decor was really cute and upscale.

I felt really out of place in my tshirt and jeans and huge bag. My guy friend was also wearing casual clothes. Everyone was welcome no matter what you wore. But of course, there were those dressed to a T.

We got there with only the last few min left so we got in FREE hooray! I did not get a drink because I had a long drive awaiting me. As for the crowd, it was a mix of 20somethings, 30somethings and 40somethings.

Some random cute dude gave me balloons (decor the club had put on the tables) while I was dancing. Aww that was sweet. Lol.

Sheffield's at the Palace is a great improvement to a Amelia Island staple. Sheffield's is a attempt at a trendy nightclub. The white leather and blue lighting even helps make a convincing case. At first Sheffs was going to have a very strict dress code, but I think they realized that on a beach island telling people no flip flops was not going to work. There is no smoking allowed, and the crowd is definitely older, and more mature then would be the regular suspects at the Palace. Waitresses are wearing lacy tops, and tight black pants (very good eye candy on some, not so much for others). The Bartenders all wear ties and button up shirts.
The main draw is the more adult crowd, the better quality drinks, and the lack of smoking. Drinks are more expensive to be sure, most are very high quality and a book of several pages with different martini's is sitting at every table. Each of the drinks average between 12-15$,  about 3-5$ too much.
I'll give Sheffield's 3 stars because it's a huge step up from what I am used to in the downtown scene. That being said the drinks are still a bit steep, the music is a bit loud and beating, and the place is still charging cover. I hate cover.
