Been here a few times, still don't.know I feel about the food. The sushi was not normal looking, the habatchi was ok. Ive had way better sushi for way less for four of us it was really really expensive.

The service was great, the atmosphere is nicely decorated.

Really disappointing.  The hibachi table was filthy. Burned rice stuck in every joint. Mexican cook not doing much more than banging his utensils on the cooktop. "More fire, I make more fire" was the extent of his conversation with us.
We ordered sushi to go with our hibachi. The Jay roll and a spicy yellowtail. I couldnt keep the Jay roll in my mouth. Either the cream cheese was off or the fish was. Thank God for the spicy yellowtail. The best thing about it was its heat got the taste of the other one out of my mouth. When I complained to the waitress she told me it was good. She called the owner over who told me I didnt know what I was tasting. "We never give you bad things". Would you tell me if you did?  I asked him to take it off the bill. The waitress came back with a bowl and some chopsticks to scrape the roll off my plate, leaving the roll I was still eating there. We asked for the check and the waitress tried to take my food. "You want it wrapped?" Honestly, Id like to finish it here if thats okay with you...
I felt rushed and put down. Then I went home and got sick.

Needless to say I wont be back. For $80 I really expected more.

I'm on a temporary vegan diet. Went with a new friend for lunch and explained the the waitress that I'm vegan. I ordered a vegetable and noodle dish. But what waitress, knowing your customer is vegan, being a beef and chicken-based soup and mayonnaise based salad? But the noodle dish was tasty as well as filling. That's the only reason for the 3 stars.

Best hibachi I've ever had, both in terms of fun and flavor. I came with some foreign visitors on a business trip and we all had a blast. All of the employees (especially the sushi chef) are totally friendly and welcoming. Next time I am in town I will absolutely be back.

Make sure to get some of the fresh wasabi, not something you can get just anywhere!

We came here not knowing anything about the  place, because we were hanging out in Aurora for a couple hours.
The dinner menu was a bit pricey-3 people $82.66+tip. In fairness I tend to think everything is too pricey. If you come here for dinner be prepared to spend
    .
The food was great! The soup was tasty.  The salad was good but they don't give you a choice of dressing. They bring it out with dressing(something like 1000 Island)
The egg rolls were fresh and beyond good. The steak, fried rice and vegetables I had were  tender and delicious. I ordered ice tea and it comes unsweetened, so you need to ask for sugar.  It was a great dinner.
Now be aware, they don't serve potatoes at all. so, if you want steak and potatoes(like my son did), you will be disappointed, so you better like rice.

Our waiter was knowledge, and friendly and always available.
The wasn't crowded. A great place to  come and be treated good!!!

Decided to come here put of the blue and was expecting a fun time and a good meal. Sadly I missed out on the latter.

It was still fun due to the nice drink special of purple haze sake which was a buy one get one free hot sake.

We ordered 2 rolls which were nothing special ( sunset and the Mexican)
These were decent. But nothing exciting

Since we ordered 2 rolls decided that 2 orders of hibachi would be too much so they told us there would be an extra $5 charge to share. Wtf!!

All in all an $80 meal for 2 that should have gone to something much nicer.

    Will not return

Sushi is ok, though not very well crafted (a couple of mine fell apart when using chopsticks, and btw I know how to use chopsticks).  They have a variety of choices.  I got the rainbow roll which is pretty much assorted sushi.  Like i said, it was ok but I have tasted better sushi elsewhere.  Price wise it is awesome compared to the other place I go to.  So to wrap it up:  price is awesome, taste is average.

Good restaurant.  I think the service is great.  Sometimes you can score free Saki.

Came here for dinner this evening. We had a coupon for two meals for $25 between 5-6pm and so we arrived shortly after 5pm. Turns out they have a happy hour special from 4-6pm for the same meal (with the purchase of 2 drinks), and so the coupon wasn't necessary.

We were seated at an empty hibachi table and there were two other small parties finishing up their meals in the restaurant. Our drink orders were taken immediately and drink prices are very reasonable. Bottles of beer were $3 and wine started at $5. When our beers came out, we were offered sake to add to them for no extra cost. We weren't too sure about this but our glasses were quickly filled and they actually tasted pretty good. My husband also had a 'shot' of sake squirted in to his mouth via a squeeze bottle by the chef later on. That was a little odd.

Food wise, my husband and I both ordered the NY steak and I ordered a california roll. Soup and salad were quickly brought out to us and both were fairly good. The soup was a miso broth with green onions, raw slices of mushroom, and some mystery noodle-ish looking item. The broth was warm and salty, aka good. The salad had a large amount of water at the bottom of the bowl, but otherwise was an iceberg lettuce mix with some tasty ginger dressing.

My sushi was basic and came with 8 pieces. They use tubes of imitation crab but the rice was nicely seasoned and presentation was pretty. Though being used to sushi in Vancouver BC, $5 is a high price for what you get.

Our steak entrees were cooked to a medium and were served with a large amount of sauteed vegetables and steamed rice. Everything was good tasting and well seasoned. You get your side of ginger or seafood sauces to add as you please. I think I liked the rice the best as it was nice and sticky and perfectly warm.

Service was very prompt and two servers were always close by to remove any empty dishes or bottles. Our chef wasn't as theatrical as I've seen them be in the past, but as it was just the two of us at the massive table, it was the perfect level. You get the traditional onion tower and a couple of flame ups, and that was about it.

Overall, the price is definitely right for the amount of food you receive. Be prepared for your everything to smell like cooking food for the rest of the evening as those exhaust fans really don't do an amazing job. I would return again.

Service was SOOOO bad.   Skimped on the food and everything was EXTRA.  Extra for fresh wasabi (I get that), EXTRA for a side of sesame seeds, EXTRA for spicy sauce for sushi.

I returned here with my sister - ordered pretty much the same thing as last time.  When we ordered White Tuna Maki (they have white tuna on the menu and we've ordered it before) our waitress looked at us like we had 2 heads (each).  She stammered about how she'd have to ask the chef - WELL THEN - ASK!  We also ordered a large beer and large Saki to share and had to tell her more than once that we EACH wanted a beer glass and a Saki glass, 2 glassed each.  Of course she returned with 2 glasses total....took her 10 minutes to bring 2 more glasses.

We ordered the Rib Eye Dinner to share and Sushi, did not want to sit at a Hibachi table because we were the only ones there (one other table was finishing up) - I had a plane to catch, not in a rush but didn't need the show.  Last time the dinner came with shrimp appetizer and our waitress at least asked us if we wanted to order an additional soup / salad.

We were the only table in the entire restaurant, WHY did they take 15 minutes to bring the check?  WHY did we have to ask for Wasabi, water, more glasses.....The bathrooms are lined with odor eliminators, very unappetizing.

We took our out of town guests there without having previously been.  The evening turned out to be a great experience!  Our waitress, hibachi chef, and the manager did not disappoint.  The food was fresh and well flavored. We tried a variety of entrees including shrimp, calamari, beef, and chicken.  It was all so very good!   The service was superb.  We had several people in our party and our waitress kept up with multiple requests-all with a beautiful smile.  Our chef put on a spectacular show, which matched his sense of humor!  The staff were so gracious.   If we lived closer, we would definitely eat there more often.

The chef was very entertaining, however the flow of the meal was off balance.
The california rolls were awesome. 5 stars :)
Looked like a fun place to have drinks with sushi and would come back again to party.

My wife and I were out for a weekend jaunt.  Not intending to eat dinner, we both began craving sushi.  However, due to [what we'll call] environmental variables, we are unable to regularly dine out, forcing us to take out.

Upon entering Shinkuku, we were immediately greeted by a Host.  We explained to the Host that we were looking for quality sushi, but that we would also require an entree.  The Host was quick to make several recommendations, and turned us loose on the sushi selection card.  The prices of the sushi were fair, although they did vary in price, depending on the fish (typical).

It look roughly 30 minutes for our meal(s) to be prepared and packaged to go.  During our wait, both my wife and I enjoyed our brief exchanges with the Host, who even provided us with several other recommendations.

After getting to our destination, we began ripping through the bags and styrofoam containers of sushi, rolls, and dressings.  The fish looked extremely fresh and the rice was very well prepared and the fish looked beautiful draped over the rice.

The 4 variations of fish (Ebi, Maguro, Sake, and Toro) surrounded my tastebuds with freshness.

The rolls were just as interesting; I do caution of the Aurora Roll - It has a bite!

The entree (Sukiyaki Beef) was definitely the prize of the show (even compared against the sushi!).  The flavors were appropriate, and very fulfilling; I quickly found my attention drawn entirely to the Sukiyaki.

Although we did not dine in, the restaurant was clean, and a friendly, quiet environment.

Whether dining in or out, I would very much recommend Shinjuku.

I beg you, don't eat here. Super expensive for the food that has low quality and quantity. It was literally just a few pieces of  beef smothered in teriyaki sauce and some thawed veggies. I'm not kidding. Sushi was descent, but not the best. Service wasn't all that great either. Waitress seated us and didn't come back for at least 30 min. Paid almost $100 for this crappy food and service. UGH.

Visited Shinjuku last weekend with a party of 14. Good place for large groups, however I've had better Hibachi. Our cook wasn't entertaining (no knife tricks) and the food wasn't seasoned. I ordered salmon and shrimp and it was so so. Others at the table raved about the steak, however the special chicken was just weird - marinated, shredded dark meat just looked odd on the grill.

On the bright side house bottles of wine were only $18 and the staff was friendly.

I went there with my "traditional" Chinese family.  My friend told me about this place.  I was not so impressive, I think it was how the chef and service there saw us.  I think next time I would like go with my friend and see what different experience.

The portions are OK.  I had there signature steak, it was pretty good.

We where seated in an area away from the hibachi bar and the floor was littered with trash & garbage. Also, the front of house people were watching tv on a mid size screen that was pretty loud. Our table was sticky. As for the food-not impressed.

Very nice interior design. They didn't order out of the cheesy Asian catalog for this place. My wife and I noticed this immediately, definitely a plus.

The Hibachi on the other hand; I'm just not impressed.

The ordering rules prevented me from ordering an extra amount of fried rice, this made me very unhappy. But I didn't fight it for long since I don't need to pack on any extra pounds anyways.

    The food was ok.

I liked the variety: ribs, fish, and the usual chicken, beef, etc.

The taste not so much. It just seemed bland to me overall. Like it was missing a healthy dose of salt and pepper.

I'm no health freak so that's what I like. I'm normally easy to please when it comes to taste but this time I was not impressed. The portions were big though, so that's a plus.

The show was the same as other places, didn't really pay much attention since I've been to so many of these hibachi joints in my day.

Won't be back, but maybe it'll float you're boat.

Ok...here's the deal...they USED to have a Happy Hour Sushi deal that was GREAT. As soon as they got popular it went away. Haven't been back since. The hibachi was just "ok". Typical. Nothing special. Meh. That's about it.

This was my second time there.  It was good IMO and is what I expect.  3 stars is what it gets.  Last time I had a combo of shrimp and steak, I think.  This time I had the cheaper Sukiyaki steak (steak marinated in some sauce with carrots and something else).  The steak tasted good, but the meat was not the best quality/cut.  It has lots of gristle in it that you could not see until you were munching on it.
Next time I will go with the strip or ribeye for a better cut of meat.

The friend rice is delish!  The show is not as good as other places I have been.  Used to the flipping of the shrimp tails into the chef's hat.  However the onion volcano was more impressive with lots of fire.  Many other places just do steam from the onion volcano.

Lastly there was a birthday at our table and you would think they would bring some sort of complimentary ice cream or something for the kid.  Nothing even though they knew about the birthday as the chef kept saying happy birthday this and happy birthday that.

I have not been for lunch, but sounds like a deal from one of the other reviews!

Will go back--seems consistent to me and the hibachi is tasty.  I would be scared to try the sushi there (sushi snob), but I might try it based on the other reviews saying that it is pretty good!

Sadly, I have to update my review.  Last time I gave Shinjuku 5 stars for the sushi experience.  Yesterday I came back for hibachi, and I have to downgrade it to 2 stars.

My workplace had a lunch for a couple of coworkers who were leaving town.  We scheduled our group a week in advance, had a few folks arrive early to arrange seating, and planned on the lunch taking about an hour and a half since we had such a large group.  You would think the restaurant would be prepared since we gave so much advance notice.

The wait staff was basically non-existant.  Due to order complications, lack of help, and a rediculously slow checkout, it took us THREE HOURS to have lunch.  This is unnacceptable for an office party that is eating up valuable work time.  At first it was nice to be away from the office, but after the first two hours I was pretty livid.

It gets two stars because the chef did an excellent job and the food was reasonably tasty.  However, I will never return here because of the horrific service.

Shinjuku makes Mr. Mixer and I very happy.  We've been coming to this Hibachi/sushi restaurant since it opened, and we always have a good time.

Here's a story:  My Russian host sister and her mom were visiting us here in Colorado.  They came for our wedding, three years ago.  Mr. Mixer and I took them to Shinjuku for sushi.  Somehow, there was a mix-up in communication between Russian and English speakers about rolls vs pieces of sushi, and we ended up ordering so much sushi, there wasn't room for it on our table.  For three people!  I don't even eat sushi.  I had told them to order whatever they wanted and Mr. Mixer didn't want to seem rude.  And the waitress just lifted her eyebrows, but went with it.   It was a great time and such a fun story to tell later.

Anyway, Mr. Mixer loves their sushi and we both really enjoy their hibachi.  One of the hibachi cooks worked back at Gasho.  I can remember him from over 10 years back (probably more).  The cooks are entertaining, the food is good, what more can a girl ask for?

This place has plenty of parking in front so don't worry about that piece of the puzzle.

A "Yelp loves us" sticker on the front door greets you as you enter.  =)

Inside, the restaurant is seperated into two areas. There is a regular table area and a Hibachi area (where the chef cooks right in front of you at your table).

Initially I was disappointed because this place does NOT have all-you-can-eat sushi anymore!

I decided that since I already used 15 minutes of my lunch break to drive here, I'll stay and Yelp about it later.

    I am glad I did.

The rolls are HUGE! Easily the biggest rolls I've ever seen. I had the softshell crab, spicy tuna and the pimp roll. Everything was very good until I got to the spicy tuna roll. The ssimplest, staple sushi roll of every restaurant....and it tasted awful!

I would have given this place 5 stars if it wasn't for the terrible spicy tuna roll. Stay away from it. However, the other rolls are huge and delicious. The prices are about the same as what you would pay at another sushi place with smaller rolls.

Come in for lunch with co-workers or friends for dinner if you are really hungry and can eat a lot of sushi.

Is there a hibachi college? They all seem exactly the same to me, the food, the presentation, the salad...

I thought the food was good enough, but a little expensive for the quality. I had the shrimp and it was well cooked. I tried one piece of sushi and I liked it. I could do without the show, but it looked like you could get a table not at a grill and just order food. I would prefer to simply enjoy the company of my friends.

I always appreciate a chance to show off my chopstick skills (girls only want boyfriends with skills).

Their hibachi is pretty unimpressive -- the showmanship is OK, but the food is uninspiring.

Everything just seemed to be overseasoned by soy sauce -- from the fried rice, to the vegetables, to the shrimp (which I didn't order, but had a few samples of), and finally the beef sukiyaki.

I really enjoy a good beef sukiyaki, but it was just salty, dried out, and reeked of soy sauce.  Sadly, the best part of my dinner was the fried rice.

Portions are large however.  Prices were reasonable for hibachi, but definitely do not make up for the food.

Went and checked this out with a eating buddy o' mine for lunch the other day. Easy to get to, wasn't that crowded for a Thursday lunch. Employees were pleasant and the service was prompt.

The menu was probably on the smaller side from what you would expect from a Hibachi place but managed to have a decent selection of items. We both ordered the lunch 2 item combo, one had steak and chicken and the other had steak and scallops. The chef was friendly and efficient, portions were reasonable and tasted good.

Overall, you get what you pay for and this is a relatively inexpensive way to go eat hibachi at lunch. Not quite the vibe of a Benehana but it doesn't cost as much either.

Unbelievable flavor but only when I have gotten the ribeye.  Go there for lunch and pay less than $10 bucks for hibachi!  Amazing!  Plus, the staff is very cool and friendly.

Came here because we had a BOGO from the Entertainment book.  The ambiance is nice and service was good.  The Teppan chef was funny and did all the typical tricks like the onion volcano and popping veggies into some patron's mouth etc.  I would have rated 4 stars if the NY Steak I ordered had some flavor.  Unfortunately, the chef seemed to have forgotten the seasoning which left my steak tasteless.  With the BOGO, it's worth trying out.  Maybe you'll have better luck with the seasoning.

    5 Star FUN
    3 Star FOOD
    = 4 Star Overall

OMG, did we have fun -- it's all about the people at your hibachi table -- if you have a good table, you'll Love this place and have an awesome time...
We totally lucked out -- Not only did we have great table mates, but our Hibachi chef was a total goof as well.
He gave us an awesome floor show; he didn't do any fun knife stuff, but made up for it with throwing food at our mouths, and making us jump up for it like a dolphin or walrus , and lots of fire play -- you know, making volcanoes out of onion rings and lighting oil.

The food itself is meh, mostly because everything dries out on the hibachi grill. We tried to order items that would retain it's juices -- but again, so tough when it sits on that grill while the Chef plays.

So if you want the yummiest miso soup, ginger salad dressing, and the best raw or cooked Japanese -- go to Sushi Den.

If you want a rip roaring fun time, with lots of social interaction -- go to A Town's own Shinjuku

Its been awhile since I've visited a teppanyaki restaurant. As far as i knew there was just Benihana. The soup came out first with our order and it was pretty good. A little on the salty side but i like salt. Then the salad came out and it had this really good ginger tasting salad dressing so good i would of licked the bowl had there not been other people seated across the way from us. I ordered the short ribs with noodles and my BF ordered the new york strip with fried rice. He wanted to order shrimp but i told him they might throw it at you like the last place i went to so he opted out. I wasnt in the mood for food being thrown at me anyways. His steak was cooked perfectly and the fried rice was really good! it had a different flavor to it maybe because of the oil he used or the sesame seeds? My short ribs were the bomb! I was too full to eat most of it but i started eating some of it on the ride back home. That's how good it was! If you go and order the short ribs, make sure you say yes to the terriyaki sauce when they cook it!! By the time i got home, i was a sticky mess. Just a little tip tho: mapquest this place before you go or you'll get lost like we did!

Alright, I waffled on Valentines day, not wanting to give in to the 'this is the best day to say I love you' comercialism.  We waited and waffled until 4pm then decided to go over to Shinjuku, just to see what it was like.  We were met at the door and congratulated for chosing the right time to come, because any later we would not be able to be seated that night.  It might have something to do  1 dollar sushi happy hour they put on during the week or the practically free saki, but whatever the reason the place was packed.
They had 4 sets of two strangers by the time they found us a place with about a 7 minute wait, and we had a great time watchig the chef slice and dice along with a magicians patter and a Japanese accent.  And though I am sure if I went there again the routine would be word for word the same, so would the food. and that is the reason we would go back.

Fantastic Sushi place (haven't tried the hibachi there yet). The green mussel appetizer is absolutely fantastic! They have an unlimited sushi lunch you can do for around $15 (or dinner for $25).....limited selection of rolls and nigiri, but well worth it if you eat a lot of sushi!

Yummy. I enjoy this place. Service is usually acceptable, not great, atmosphere is good. It is a little expensive, about $20 a person without booze. Definitely get the fried rice and their noodle as a side is really tasty too. The meat is OK, not great, we go for the rice and noodles.

We go here quite a bit, I'm less impressed with their sushi, but its a good place to go and cheaper for lunch. I recommend it. There is one guy that works the grill that is just funny. quite, talks way too fast and in broken sentences but he's entertaining.

Long story short, give it a go, get fried rice and noodles, enjoy. Their happy hour is good if you drink with dinner (2 for 1).

A fun little hibachi and sushi place hidden among regular chain restaurants. The location makes this place LOOK like a chain but i don't think it is.

As anti-table sharing as i am, i understood the value of taking a place (with my friends) at a 'community' hibachi table. The other diners were polite and kept their distance.

The chef was fun and entertaining but upon further introspection, we concluded that she was totally faking her 'jap-anime' accent.

The food was very good - meat tasty, vegies fresh, and good sauces. Our sushi rolls were inventive, fresh and competently made.

The sushi bar looked fun to sit at - there was one old Aurora geezer feeling up the poor waitress as we walked out. Party!

Expect to spend $50 a person which includes 2 drinks, entree, tax and tip. It's worth it for a change and a little hibachi fun!

(**My rating chart: 1 star: BAD, 2 stars: MmOkay, 3 stars: Pretty Good!, 4 Stars: Surprisingly good, 5 stars: Amazing**)
