We tried this place after my husband found them while working a construction job at the beach. The atmosphere was nice, the mural a little stereotypical, but that's how Mexican restaurants translate to the US. Anyway - the food was great. I loved the burrito. It was filling, fresh, hot and delicious. The service was friendly, as well. I tried the cherry limeade, and I thought it was good, but probably not something I'd order again. It was a little syrupy for me, but this is coming from someone who doesn't drink sodas. The salsas looked fresh, but they lacked in flavor. The pico de gallo was bland and tasted like nothing but tomato. I couldn't taste the onions, cilantro or any salt. Don't get me started on jalapenos, because pico is supposed to have it, but I know in the American versions it doesn't and serves as a "mild" salsa. The roasted tomato salsa was a nasty looking green/black/brown concoction, and I was reluctant to try it, but to my surprise, it was the best salsa on the entire bar... Since it's all made fresh, I can only attribute my disappointment with the salsas to someone on prep being a little off. I really hope that's not a consistent issue. I'll definitely be back, though.
Review Source:Now I have eaten at Sierra from the beginning and enjoyed most of them. I have ordered the tacos and burritos and they are good. I'm just not a big fan of rice and beans in my rittos. I did order a Mexican pizza once and have ordered it almost every time since. They are just a really good blend of crispy tortilla and cheeses with a good amount of meat to go along. It's baked and then topped with lettuce, green onions, and tomatoes. Then you  add the sour cream and or one of the salsas from the fresh made salsa bar. Now I do return from time to time just for this dish. Now I would also like to say that this place is spotless. There's this guy named Danny that has been working here for 14 years now and he personally keeps the place cleaner then the whistle. I really think that he was here the first time I came into Sierra Grill.
Review Source:I moved to JAX in 2003, and I eat here at least 2 or 3 times a week for lunch. Â My favorite is the Surf & Turf burrito followed by the steak or shrimp soft tacos.
My only complaint is the quality of the sweet and unsweetened tea. Â (I like mine half sweet & half unsweet.) Â The only way to describe the taste is that it is downright nasty. Â (I omit a star from the rating for the tea.). I don't know what they do to screw it up so bad, but someone there needs to check into it ASAP! Â All they need to do is sample Chick-fil-a or Firehouse for great tasting tea and follow suit.
We drive out to the beach for Sierra Grille and the Pineapple Salsa. Â The turnaround for the food after you order is usually fast. Â The food is on the healthy side and we enjoy the Black Bean Quesadilla. Â Great surf and turf that has shrimp and steak. Â If you get a chance try the ranch with dill sauce too. Sierra Grill is as good as it gets!
Review Source:Really good, fresh place! I was rather impressed by the value, size and quality of my burrito! I had a pretty standard chicken burrito, but it was really GOOD! And rather inexpensive. The flavor was great, and it was more than enough for two meals (I should have cut it in half, ended up eating all of it!). The salsa bar was pretty notable; lots of fresh choices, hot spices, it was all very good! Overall and nice place to eat, I would return!
Review Source:When I worked for UPS in the Marsh Landing area this was one of my favorite places to have lunch. The chips and salsa variety is fresh and very tasty. I always ordered the steak tacos and it was always fresh and spectacular! I highly suggest this place if you need a quick bite, and expect quality food. They claim to not own any freezers!
On my visits I would see familiar faces from TV such as Carnel Lake, and Tim Deagan.
Give it a try! Prepared to be hooked!
Don't know how they keep it all fresh, but I'm gonna have to believe their line that nothing is frozen.
Have eaten there 6 or 7 times now in the past 6 months and have been quite happy each time. The only item that I found disappointing was the Spicy Shrimp soft taco. The texture of the shrimp was quite rubbery.
A special taste from there is the ranch sauce which has a different , better texture than normal ranch.
FYI: Don't order extra chips, your plate comes overflowing with them.
Lastly, they have some great specials especially on social media sites that are known for checking in and that are not called ThreeCircle :)
Sierra is an old friend, I always come back to it. It's not fancy, but it's clean, reliable and the food is always good. I order the veggie burrito, bitch style, pretty reliably. That means black beans instead of refried, add broccoli, grill the burrito. Sometimes I get the taco salad, that's the Sierra Salad, but with ground beef instead of the other meats. My man always, always gets the chicken quesadilla.
The salsas from the salsa bar are fresh, but the roasted salsa is my favorite.
At lunchtime the line can get pretty long, but it moves fast and the staff is efficient so don't worry, you'll be in and out. We are probably in Sierra Grill 3-4 times a month, see you soon!
At lunch time, this place hops with fine looking women. Â Chicks dig the fresh ingredients and non-fried cheesy salad type stuff. Â Cool. Â The place is spotless and the owner takes an active interest in keeping it that way. Â Very cool. Â During the beach weather, this place gets very crowded at lunch but service is always fast and friendly. Â They have a salsa bar with lots of fair salsa and some very good hot salsa...I like to mix the hot salsa with the sun-dried tomato. Â Parking can be a pain but you can always park across the street at target and play frogger.
Review Source:I've been going here since they opened. Most often  for lunch mostly and occasionally for dinner. Food is fresh, fast and service is friendly.  I've met the owner and he's always present and interested in customer satisfaction.
Highly recommended - particularly for lunch. My favorite is the steak burrito. Â Owner really cares.
My S.O.'s family absolutely loves this place. After a particularly intense post-Turkey Day workout, his sister and I stopped in to grab a quick bite, and even though Tex-Mex-style food is usually at the bottom of my list, I have to say it was an enjoyable meal. We both had the Sierra Salads, and I added grilled shrimp to mine for some extra protein. All the ingredients (from the lettuce and pico de gallo to the guac to the shrimp) were extremely fresh and flavorful. And they had my beloved Texas Pete's hot sauce sitting out on the tables, which I proceeded to pour all over my salad. Yummy! This still wouldn't be my first choice for a meal, but I'd return with others.
Review Source:I LOVE THIS PLACE
1 Â FRESH
2 Â Cheap
3 Â Consistently good
4 Â Shrimp taco/burrito with pinaple salsa...mmmmmm
5 Â Salsa bar
I used to work and live close by here, whenever i would go longer than a week without a Sierra grill fix.... I would start dreaming about the tacos, and drool uncontrollably (it's happening again)
sigh, but I moved to NC...sad sad sad
try it... especially the Shrimp tacos...mmmmm
For a quick bite to eat, Sierra Grille is an excellent choice! The prices are fair, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the food is fresh and creative!
I am not a huge fan of Mexican, but I do not complain when Sierra Grille is suggested for lunch! The food on the regular menu is great, but the specials are the real gem! I rarely look at the regular menu board anymore.
This is one place I always like to stop by when I visit Freakville. Â The food is always fresh so you know they don't mess around when they say they have no freezers or micros. Â Their Shrimp Burrito is my fav. Â It has spicy marinated & grilled shrimp with melted Jack cheese, lettuce & cool orange-kiwi-papaya salsa. Â It's the best burrito I have had east of the Mississippi hands down. Â The gauc is amazing and the the salsa bar has a great selection. Â The chips are no salt, which is a big plus. Â Definitely worth checking out if your in the JB area.
Review Source:What a great place. I will always eat here when I get the chance. The food is very fresh, hot, and oh so good. They have a salsa bar that is great for doctoring up your food. If you're looking for a good combo try the Pico with a bit of their salsa roja on top for kick. Each time I eat here I get the southwest burrito, end of story. Before I started my love affair with this place I would try Mo's or Chipotle, now I've seen the light and I go out of my way to eat here.
On the upside the food is always fresh and you don't come out feeling like you've just blown your whole diet, also its always crowded. On the downside its always crowded. If your local you WILL see someone you know. This place gets 4 stars because its small, I wish they would make it bigger so I didn't have to wait on a seat, but they've expanded their franchise and haven't seen any drop in quality, so props to them. Yumm!
Sierra Grille is pretty good. Â They have a few different burritos, sandwiches, salads, and tacos. Â I seem to get the fajita burrita a lot which is a burrito that includes the sauteed onions and peppers that you usually find with a fajita. Â The ingredients used at Sierra Grille are very fresh and a notch above some of the other similar tex-mex serve-yourself establishments. Â I have one pet peeve about Sierra Grill though. Â They obviously go through all the trouble to get fresh ingredients that look good and taste good and then you go over to the salsa bar and they have canned jalapenos. ARGH! Â When you look at the salsa bar, someone went through the trouble to cut the limes and lemons; to chop fresh onions and cilantro; make fresh pineapple salsa with itty bitty little pieces of pineapple and then they open a jar and dump some jalapenos into a bowl???? Â It makes no sense. Â Would it be too much to ask to have a little bit of minced fresh jalapeno amonst your fresh salsa bar items?
