Very local joint that has 45 minute wait with no bar but pay as you go bottled beer from the fridge. This is more like a local seafood market rather than a restaurant.  It is old and run down with tight spaces.

The ahi tuna with scallops were very good. The fried grouoer and coconut shrimp was a bit heavy. And seamonster combo special was very disappointing.

Steamed combo was supposed to come with clams, mussels, crawfish, shrimp and snow crab. Except for the shrimp, everything felt like it was frozen seafood. The clams were so small that i can barely taste anything and that crawfish had no spices.

Would i go back? Perhaps to sit outside at the patio, drinkng beer and enjoy the mosquito bites in february to feel like it is summer time.

There are just some nights where it's so busy around 6pm, that you're waiting over an hour in line. Other nights, you're in and seated within 10 minutes. It's a crap shoot because I've gone on different weeknights.

The place seems tiny from the outside, and feels smaller once you get in and seated. I've only eaten in the front room, so I can't say what the back feels like. However, if the back is anything like the handful of tables in the front, then I'm claustrophobic. There is just enough room for staff and customers to move around, especially to go to the kitchen (staff) and rest room (customer), when the house is packed.

The food is all made to order and if you don't tell them how you want it (grilled, blackened, Cajun, ecc), they assume it's grilled, if it's a certain fish.

One of the times I went with three other people, one person ordered the sword platter, another ordered the coconut shrimp and the third ordered turbot. I ordered the grouper. The swordfish was the best the man had eaten, as he's not a big fish person (purely based on the fact other fish places cook it poorly), the shrimp was spectacular, and the turbot was an interesting new try. Grouper is grouper, what can I say?

Everything, however, is priced right for what it is. If you want the oysters or anything like that, it's market price. Otherwise, you're looking at $6+.

The last time I was there, however, was a downfall. I went with 5 other people, so it was a big party. We got there at 6, told wait time was 45 minutes. The place was already packed. So we said okay, as the company was not only from out of state, but a couple from the east coast of *this* state. An hour and a half later (pushing hour and 45 minutes), we sat down. No lie, it was close to 8 and no line behind us, by the time the got the okay to have a seat. There was a point in time, where we all kept looking at each other, thinking that the staff was deliberately pushing us to the back of the line, because groups of 3 and 4 that were behind us, went in front of us.

Prior to the point of us getting a table, some of the staff were rude, as we were there for so long. The hostess even raised her voice to us at one point, because we were standing inside. There were several older women with us, and they were cold, so they wanted to stand indoors. Fair enough, we thought. We were standing far enough away from the door and people, so that you could still walk around us. Even when looking at the market part of the restaurant, you could maneuver around. But no, the hostess wanted nothing to do with that. She raised her voice and said that we need to go outside, as it's a safety and fire hazard for us to stand around and wait. Huh? What? Like the place isn't already a fire hazard, with the way they move tables? So we shifted out.

When we got back in and seated, the service was okay. It was getting late already. One person asked for more salad dressing and never got it. Another asked for iced tea halfway thru the meal and never got it. All our meals were COLD. Like, the 3 people that ordered a baked potato as a side, couldn't even eat it because it was as if the potato was cooked half way and left to sit on the counter to finish heating. All our fish orders were tepid. The whole meal was as if the cooks had made it, set it up under a heat lamp with a desk fan blowing on it, and there it sat for 30 minutes. No exaggeration can make this night sound pretty.

All in all, it's a shame that the out of state people had to witness this, and the east coasters couldn't use this place to compare to. It was a little embarrassing, but it is what it is.

We will probably go back, to give it another try. It's a bit divey, but it's still a good place to grab something to eat.

The last time I visited  I panned the place, but they are back in my good graces. I swear they added a fresh coat of paint and cleaned the place up, but the food is the reason to come. The blackened scallops or the crispy grouper are simply the best. They now provide plastic lobster beepers to let you know your table is available allowing to to relax and have a beer in the parking lot, yes it is that kind of place.
