Skyline Chili

I moved to the area from Ohio in 2006. I was excited to have a taste from my childhood. The sentiment lasted for a while, but now this restaurant is reminder of what happens when corporate is 800 miles away, and nobody cares.

Typically, the place is staffed by people that seem to have been there for years. This is typically good, however when they aren't there it is a totally different story. I went in on a Sunday both of my previous visits. Each time the floors and tables have been filthy... to the point I didn't want to touch anything. My table was so grungy that I asked the young woman to wipe it down. I pointed to the dried brown rings of cola that were left by previous customers glasses. Her response was "Oh, those don't come off." I was so grossed out that they were ok with that level of filth left behind by workers lack of elbow grease. To make my point, I rubbed my finger briskly across the table, and the grime came off. There is just no excuse for this lack of cleanliness. Again, this location is a complete 180º from any other location I have ever eaten at.

I was embarrassed I had brought a friend here. The only reason I stayed was my companion wanted to try the food I had been talking about for years. Having grown up with Skyline Chili, I was saddened by the disparity between what I see in Ohio and what I see at this location. I ordered 3 coneys,a chilito and a Dr. Pepper. The coneys came out quickly, but my chilito didn't come with the rest of the food.  About 10 minutes after out coneys came out, the server delivered a stone cold chilito to my table. I simply pushed it to the side, got up and paid my bill and left. The sodas and glass of water had a very strange taste and smell to them. I pulled a piece of ice out my cup and it smelled awful. Seems to be very unsanitary, all around the restaurant.

The owner/operator is normally there, and is friendly, along with the more seasoned staff, but it does't excuse this locations poor cleanliness and general practices.

Staff is outstanding; very friendly. However, I was not pleased with the food.  The hot dogs are tiny! The chili is watery and has an odd taste to it which I later found out is cinnamon. The soft drinks have an odd taste too, I don't know why.  Not for me.

Well I  had a coupon. Heard of this style chilli on the Travel channel......  This is a love or hate type of food. I HATE THIS CHILI...... It has cinnamon so it gives a weird taste. The adding of onions or cheese or the vinegary hot sauce does not improve it at all.

The people, service ,the quality of food is  great. I just did not like this food.

It has been here for over 22 years.

So if you are adventurous give it a try. If U R a fan good for U..... me NOPE.
