Girls Cruise 2013! One of our stops was at Key West. Wondering around it was blazing HOT and we needed a drink pronto! We found the SMALLEST bar ever. We were immediately greeted. It is a super cute place and very quick to get a drink. We ordered two Pina Coladas. The best thing was that these were made with fresh pineapple juice and pretty strong. After Each drink was 9 bucks. It was a decent size. Plus very tasteful.
Service was awesome. I love how they play reggae music and have random pictures up. The bar is loaded with every liquor you can imagine. So if you are looking for something specific don't worry you will find it here.
If you are visiting Key West make sure to make a stop here!
Ok, small review for small bar that made a small impression on me.
I was told to go here and get a drink out of a pineapple. Â Who can resist that?! So we head there as soon as we start our crawl de Duval, and lo and behold, we find this tiny little awning with a barrel of pineapples and coconuts out in the front. Â
Choose fruit. Give to guy with dreads. Guy with dreads puts a little rum in coconut and garnishes with a tiny piece of lime and umbrella. Â BF receives pineapple with rum and 2 umbrellas. Â We pay $29. Â Not drunk. Â Not even tipsy. Â I think he gave us one shot between the two of us. Â
It was cool to check it out and walk down Duval drinking out of a coconut, but not a place I'll hit up again.
My friend and I came to Key West via Royal Caribbean Cruise ship. Unfortunately, our day only allowed for a half day exploration of this small but remarkably fun island. We had to get back onto the ship by 5pm, and it was pouring rain (damn, tropical weather!). By around 4:30pm, we began walking down Duval Street and decided that we wanted to be drunk, or at least buzzed when back on the ship (hey, booze is expensive and weak on the ship!).
After hitting up two bars within 10 minutes, we ended up getting recruited into the Smallest Bar in the world. Wouldn't have even noticed this little hole in the wall (literally) if it weren't for one loud, obnoxiously drunk woman who drew us in. I'm usually wary about following advice of random, intoxicated strangers, but when I'm buzzed, I start to let down my guard.
The bartender asked us what we wanted, and I said, "Surprise me." He whipped up a fruity concoction for my friend and I, pricing it at $8 each. We cheers'd with the others inside of the Smallest Bar, all 5 of us, and chugged our drinks quickly.
We darted out of the Smallest Bar, with 5 minutes to get back to our cruise ship. And during our dash, I told my friend, "That was a rip off! It didn't taste like any alcohol was in there!"
10 minutes later, the alcohol kicked in, and I was happily on my sailing ship.
Moral of the story-- Smallest bar has strong drinks that don't taste strong. DON'T BE FOOLED!
ALLOWS DOGS! Bartender looked like Scott Caan and was nice enough to let us keep our dog inside after "Island Dogs" did not. Apparently, Island Dogs lost their license (go figure, Key West requires yet another license with fee of course). Place is small but the best part is the many different types of people to walk by and the conversation can get entertaining from there. Met a cool British couple and we spent the night shooting the $hit and buying each other drinks.
Review Source:This really is the smallest bar I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. Â It seriously is smaller than my apartment and I live in a studio in NYC. Â So, quite on the tiny side indeed! Â This is not a place you come and chill for hours with your friends.. it's more of a pit stop to get a quick drink to take along while walking down Duval Street. Â Cute idea and I bet it's a total gold mine due to it's uniqueness and the turnover / traffic in and out.
Review Source:Had I remembered to write this review a week, month.. even a year ago then I would have given it 5 stars. Not because the drinks are so amazing but because of the wonderful memories that I've acquired here throughout the years.
But today, things changed, I walked in with hubby in hand ready to grab a quick drink to cool us off. There was already a couple inside. They walked to the back of the bar (took two steps back) to give us some room to order. The lady behind the bar was really excited and friendly. She was older and very earth-y. She explained that she had invented this really wonderful fruity drink made of natural ingredients and promised that it would cool me down instantly and be 'the best thing I ever tried'. So I took a chance and ordered it. What I received... no, bought ($10)., was the worst concoction I have ever had the utter displeasure of tasting. It was bland, tasteless, mostly ice and water from my taste.. just plain bad. I felt too bad to tell her that to her face because she was an older woman who was so proud of the 'magical drink she made' so I sucked it up and thanked her before leaving.
Beware the woman who tells you about a tropical drink she invented herself!!!!
Other then that its cool to check out the bar because its so tiny.
Smallest Bar in Key West!! Â It is definitely an intimate atmosphere. Â About a total of fifty square feet in the bar, so you get right up close and personal with the bartender. Â Fun time, and I think if I were 21, I would spend some time in this place getting close to the people around me
Review Source:It really is.... THE SMALLEST BAR
what a riot to walk by and see this yellow awning advertising the "smallest bar" and it's written right there on the wall too and then again written on the face of the bar too. Â Surprised there is so much marketing of the name; if anything they should be careful because where are these people going to stand if they like the idea of hanging at the "smallest bar". Â
We (like so many other passer-bys) took a picture and moved on. Â Thought about ordering a beer or something but....... you guessed it, No Room ! ! !
Funny idea but not the ideal entertainment location. Â
Frankly, it's more like a pit stop; grab a brew, snap a pic and continue with the "Duval Crawl".
Stopped in on a real hot day. Â My girlfriend wanted a Chardonnay so the bartender left for a couple of minutes and came back and poured her this enormous plastic glass of wine! Â The best part was chatting with the bartender and all of the people who hesitatingly stopped in. Â Friends are made very easily in that little place. Â Had a good time and would go back for sure!
Review Source:Let's call Smallest Bar what it is - essentially a roadside stand for drinks. Â And that's Kool & The Gang in and of itself, but if that road you're on the side of is the heart of Duval Street, Key West, you've chosen a particularly fine spot to set up shop. Â Sure, you can hang out inside, but lingering at the entryway feels almost like you're on your own front porch observing the humanity that's ebbing and flowing past you. Â Better yet, it isn't expensive. Â Smallest Bar is a key enabler of fun in Key West, and for its square footage, it packs a mighty whallop.
Review Source:Cheapest drink I had all trip and it was very convenient for walking around. It was cash only so be sure to have some money. Our bartender was a joker and had a very good attitude. I just had a vodka and cranberry which was only a few bucks which was a relief after all those $6 drinks everywhere else.
Review Source:Put anything in a fresh freaking pineapple with rum, an umbrella and a cherry and, yes, I will pay you $12 for it. Drunken novelties...what can I say. Money well spent. Great bar...no fuss. Basically a nook in a teeny alley between two real buildings...with a yellow awning...a small one obviously.
Review Source:One reviewer here says there is not an open container law here. Not true! The KWPD don't often enforce it but CAN Â and WILL if they see you behaving obnoxiously. Sorry I realize this isn't a review per se, but yelp didn't accept it as a tip because it is too long. That said I do like this bar; it is one of the unique venues in KW.
Review Source:Quitely nestled between two buildings, the width of the Smallest Bar measures about 7'. It's a bartender, four bar stools, and a cooler full of frosty beers.
It's a nice stop-off from Duval St., and there's usually good conversation from the bartender on duty. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Key West for any amount of time.
The smallest bar rules! Â Such a novelty that you must try and "so darn cute" according to my wife. Â I arrived and got a beer and stayed around to enjoy the atmosphere of being in the smallest bar. Â Great people to talk to as the 8 people that were inside rolled out into the street. Â A great time for sure!
I find it funny that they have a restroom that is big. Â LOL
It is what it is friends! Â The name says it all. Â Its like a guy with a cooler and a liquor license.
P.S. Â the guy is like everyone else in KW... Â he's got a tip jar, use it or keep walking.
P.S.S. again with the stupid parking question. Â THERE IS NO PARKING except for your drunk ass at the bar, or in a pink cab. Â DONT DRINK AND DRIVE!
I take one step in and all it takes is one step out to depart. This must be the smallest bar I have ever seen but its by far one of the loudest bars I have ever walked by and in. I did not have a drink here because the bar was packed (doesn't take much for that to happen).
I can guarantee I will be having a drink there next time I visit Key West.
