I wasn't impressed with this place. As a retired Marine, I've  been all over the world and All over this country and been in a lot of places like this. On the West Coast and East Coast they do it much better. This place Has a common Fayetteville establishment affliction: It's too pretentious Without having any reason to be. They act like they're some sort of awesome and authentic Scottish/Irish pub, but the only real beer they have is Guinness. No Smithwycks. Try a little harder guys.

Good selection of whiskeys, bourbons, etc.  Nice staff and good music some nights.

Do not go here. The staff and even the owners are pretentious and rude. It's one of those places that give you a beer at last call then 2 minutes later stand over you while expecting you to slam it down. I have seen them get aggressive toward people that don't chug a full beer. If you want to enjoy your night out, don't go here.

This place sucks. Well maybe not if you are a guy. On recent business trip I stopped in for a couple of glasses of wine after reading reviews on this site. I sat at the bar and was never offered a refill after the first drink. I had to ask for it even though there was only 4 other people in the bar. When it came time to pay my tab I could not get the bartender to even notice me. I had my money on the bar, glass was empty and I was ready to go. He was too busy talking to the male customers. As this was happening I was reading the awards on the wall for "Friendliest Service". Really?  Maybe if you were a guy. What an insult.

neat place. Hipster and preppy crowd at times.  Smoking patio on back is lacking, but at least they have one.  Best place to take your date than try and find one.  Not a biker hangout, so that often excludes me.

Smoke and Barrel is a "purveyor of fine whiskeys," and there are a lot of whiskeys (drop the "e" for all you Scotch die-hards) to choose from in any of the following categories:  Irish, Scotch, American, bourbon, rye, corn, single malts, blended. The are a few draft beers, including some selections from Boulevard and even an Arkansas brewery called Diamond Bear. The bottles are standard fare, but I'm not saying that's a bad thing. On Mondays the drink specials (including $2 wells) last all day and this fact combined with the reasonable music volume, various corners and kinds of seating, and availability of board games made this a nice weeknight bar. The weekends feature Fayetteville's indie-ish bands. It's tastefully lit, which is more important than most people will admit.

I've been to Smoke and Barrel a few times and have always had an enjoyable time.  It is a little bit of a different scene than most of the other Dickson street establishments, which is nice.  They have a smattering of nooks about the place where you can enjoy friends and conversation.  I just went today during happy hour and they had some good specials (see below).  Additionally, on Mondays, those specials last for the whole day through the evening.  They have an extensive list of whiskeys, a few cigars, and an admirable selection of bottled beers available if you don't want to opt for mixed drinks or what is available on tap.

This is my favourite bar in Fayetteville! There are always wonderful beer specials and a stellar bar staff to make your drinks, jokes, and smiles. The interior is warm and woody, and everyone is welcoming. There is one pool table, and almost always a band playing. There are always board games, and sometimes scrabble or connect-four tournaments. Occasionally, Sunday nights are host to a movie screening or two.
There's also a no-smoking-inside policy, which is wonderful if you're a non-smoker. The screened-in patio serves as the smoker's haven, here.

An Indie bar with a small stage, pool table, lots of seating, and board games. Lots and lots of board games.

A great week night bar, this place has high ceilings, timber framing, and an outdoor area that's screened in for those smokers out there. It's usually crowded on weekend nights, and you can pretty much count on a band playing then. They also tend to have a scrabble tournament every now and then.
