The beans were absolutely incredible, ribs and chicken awesome, I wasn't too crazy about the sliced meat, but if you like that kind of thing you probably would.  You cannot go wrong with the ribs or the chicken - it was smoked, unusual and tasty.

Real Southern BBQ in North Fort Meyers. Well worth the stop on my trip from St Petes to Wellington. I recommend the ribs!

Ridiculously good ribs, chicken, and brisket.  THE BEST BBQ BEANS ON THE PLANET.  Seriously, I would come here JUST for the beans.  I am a BBQ fanatic, so my focus is usually on the meats... but I have to comment on these.  Order them as a side to go.  Fill a bathtub and bathe in them.  Just get them.  You'll thank me.

We walked in right to the hostess stand where 2 employee's were standing.  Neither even looked at us.  After about 30 seconds one said we will be right with you.
    How about a hello????????

We noticed the Feast for 2 was on special on the board out front for $24.99.
I saw the feast for 2 on the menu for $27.99 so I asked Missy the waitron how much it was.  She said $24.99 it's on special now and is great.
She told us to help ourselves to the vittles bar where they had slaw, 2 kinds of beans and 2 kinds of pickles.  I had the BBQ bean and slaw both were homemade and excellent.

Within minutes Missy was back with our feast for 2.  Sliced smoked turkey was the best I have ever eaten.  Sliced, pork & beef were also served with 4 ribs and 2 large pieces of chicken.  She had a baked & I had Fry's and 2 pieces of soggy corn on the cob.  Texas toast was also on the large platter.  All the food was outstanding but Missy never came back.

We sat done waiting for at least 10 minutes for her to offer us a to go container.  Finally my wife walked up to the hostess stand to ask for one.

Missy came by and dropped off the check.

As I took the check to the hostess/cashier stand I told the cashier Shelby I wanted that receipt.  She explained I was getting a copy once I signed for my cc.  I said no I want that receipt as she threw it in the trash.  She again told me she was giving me the copy at which point I told her I needed the itemized receipt to which she replied a 2nd time you will get a copy.  By now I am getting pissed and she gave me the cc copy of the receipt that was not itemized.  She then reached in the trash to get the original receipt.  As I walked away from the counter I said to Shelby "Now is when you say thank you sir!"  She said nothing as I walked out the door.  Now at home I look at the receipt I see I was charged $25.99 for the feast for 2, not $24.99 as the sign and server told me was the price.

I know the restaurant biz is tuff and these local places don't pay anything, but some competence is expected.

To Missy & Shelby and the owner/managment TIPS is an acronym for, To Insure Prompt Service.

Hope both of you girls are in school as you won't make it working for tips.

As for the management, train the help to treat your guest better.

The best baked-beans in the world!! We pick up a gallon of beans for cook-outs all the time. They are always a success and never any leftovers. Friendly staff. Good old fashioned BBQ. Mmm Mmm tasty!

Ok I'm taking them down to three stars. I think they may have changed owners. They've got a new sign and they printed new menus and added a couple things (fried pickles). And it looks like they may have cleaned the place. But the service has taken on a distinctly not friendly tone (although still fast) and the meat was dry and/or under seasoned (how do you make dark meat chicken dry??).  If this visit was my first I'd give them 2 stars and never come back, The beans were still good but  nothing else was.  I'll try them again and see if they were having an off day but honestly this seems systematic.

Well I was hoping for a gr8t BBQ place. My first time out  was truly disappointing.
Maybe my choice of the slice beef lunch special was a bad choice. IT REALLY SUCK.
It was tough and tasteless even with  the 2 choices of sauces. The sauces were not very impressive. NOT very spicy . DID not thrill me.

I arrived at 1107 AM on a Saturday. Greeted promptly and  seated. Waitress was  outstanding- service was good.             FOOD  I THINK NOT!!!!

My fries were cold and the garlic bread was  texas style slice with butter and garlic on the griddle. Sweet tea is just so-so.

Beside the  servers the only other bright light was good  cole slaw, made on the premises.

I will try it again and do the pulled pork and hushpuppies or beans. But it will be a while.

We wanted a bite to eat on our way to the airport and used Yelp.  We decided to try this and our lunch was delicious.  We had the pulled pork and rib lunches with beans, slaw and garlic toast.  Terrific portion for lunch.  We also had a sliced fried potato with a refreshing ranchy dip.

Would definitely stop in again when nearby.

This may be a funky building outside, and an even funkier interior. But the wooden booths, hand-written signs, stuff on the floor, and the boar's head trophy mounted over the kitchen set up area, really put you in a southern bbq kind of a mood..

Prices are cheap, and the staff is plentiful and happy to help.  I had the smoked turkey luncheon plate for $8..  It was sliced very thin, and was moist.  The cole slaw was tart and chopped very fine.  Really suited my taste.

There are lots of funny signs above the cash register, including the usual, "$10 extra charge for a bad attitude."    Apparently I was well behaved enough. I didnt get the surcharge.

It's great BBQ.  You know it's great BBQ when you can see the pits and there is a cloud of grill smoke hovering above the restaurant.  The lunch special is the best BBQ deal I've seen.  You get twice as much food for almost half the price as the Famous Dave's lunch special.  The best item is the pulled pork, ribs are a strong number two.  As for the sides, they have excellent cole slaw because it's not floating in mayo.  The fried okra you can eat like popcorn.  Usually they have baked sweet potatoes but a couple times in the busy season they have run out.  The dinner plates are big enough that you can eat all you need and have enough to take home for lunch the next day.  Or a late night snack.

In the winter it is tough to find a seat and the parking lot is packed with pickups.  Lunch time appears to be their busiest time of day.  In the summer you can easily get a table at any time of the day.

I love Bar B Q so when I read the reviews on here I have wanted to go.  Well today I happened to be in North Ft Myers and I figured I would try this wonderful place people were so excited about.  So I stopped by.  Here is the good the bad and the ugly.

    The Good
The sliced pork was yummy and very smokey as was sauce.  The fries and garlic bread were hot and fresh.

    The Bad
It had to be the worst Cole Slaw I ever had

    The Ugly
Please for the love of God have your waitresses come in early and deep clean your restaurant.  The walls look sticky the bottom of the booths look dirty.  The menus on the table are old and dingy.  And you bathroom just looks nasty.

The waitress did ask me if I wanted a sweet tea to go which was nice.  I think I will skip this place and go to Sonny's for my $9.16 (without tip) I can do way better!

Some of the best pulled pork and macaroni salad I have ever had.

The food is all quality, the staff is great, the prices are totally reasonable, and the ambiance is laid back and cool. Parking is ample and the location is great too!

I have eaten at a lot of BBQ places across the country and this place was just ok. I ordered the BBQ pork and beef combination. They were both a little dry, but the pork was better than the beef.

The best part of the dinner were the vittles that came with it. They have a help yourself snack bar set up with cole slaw, potato salad, beans ext. The potato salad was plain, but I liked that they added pickle to it. The baked beans were by far the best part. They had a hint of spiciness and bits of meat dropped in.

Overall this was ok, but nothing great.

So let's say you just proposed to your girlfriend and, overwhelmed with joy and love, you need to go somewhere and celebrate.  Where would you go?  Your favorite Italian place?  Your neighborhood pub?  Your best friend's house?  What if you're far from home (say, in Fort Myers, Florida) and starving for dinner?  Well, if that's the case, go to Smoke'n Pit for some engagement barbeque.  That's what I did, friends, and let me tell you, it worked out great.

I love barbeque like I love few things, and thankfully, so does my fiance.  We feasted not once, but twice, on combinatons of tender and magnificently sauced pulled park, baby  back ribs, smoked chicken and sliced pork.  These staples were complimented by a "vittles bar," which boasted the best baked beans I've ever eaten, some excellent cole slaw, good maraconi salad and black eyed peas.

They offer combo meals, but do yourself a favor and order your meats a la carte by the pound and then kick in the extra $2-and chance for the vittles.  That's where this place absolutely shines.

Smoke'n Pit does barbeque right, and is as good a place to celebrate an engagement as any place I've ever found.

After reading the other reviews I became very excited and we rushed out that afternoon for some BBQ, hoping to stumble across a great American hole in the wall BBQ restaurant. What we found instead was a decent BBQ joint. We got the sampler platter for four, and carefully inspected every piece of meat for thorough smoke saturation, tenderness, moistness and flavor. Some of the ribs were just plain tough, just not how you want a rack of spare ribs....the chicken had dry spots and was chewy in places.... Deffinatly not as moist as it should be. The baked beans were actually something to brag about....they were flavorful, smokey and just plain good. I consider myself somewhat of a BBQ expert, and wouldn't give this place a failing grade, just not a great one... All in all, it is a great place to grab a cheap meal if your in the neighboorhood, and can't  BBQ for yourself... But it could be much better, and leaves you wanting a little bit more...

I am very liberal with the stars usually but this place solidly deserves five of them,  maybe six.  We were in a motel across the street for a week.  After work the combined energy left between the two of us wouldn't get us very far so we tried this bbq joint.  Whoa mama!!!  Coldest beer ever!  How is this beer not frozen?  And the bbq was amazing.  Perfectly cooked and juicy.  The condiment bar was cool - slaw and baked beans...  The servers were always great and welcomed us each night as if we were lifelong friends.  We tried the ribeye one night and it was great but nothing compares to their pig.  If I ever find my way back to the area you can bet Ill stop in here again.  Yummy.

This is the place that introduced me to BBQ and where I fell in love with it. I love their ribs! There smokey, yummy and succulent! The garlic bread is great as well. Not too crazy about the pulled pork but you can't go wrong with anything else on the menu. I've only tried their BBQ items so I can only vouch for them. Try the platter that samples all the different BBQ items. A platter for two is still a lot of food and your bound to take some home but damn their freakin' good. They also cater. Try it you won't be disappointed!

This place used to be called Fat Boy's Bar-B-Q, and my mom took me here all the time when I was a kid.  It's the best BBQ chicken I've ever had, and they seemed to keep everything original to Fat Boy's when the name changed, though this is based on only a couple of trips (I left for college and my mom moved, so I haven't been back in a while).  I have yet to experience BBQ as amazing as that which is produced at this restaurant.  Everything about it is quite spectacular.  You'll even forget that you're being forced to listen to country music.
