I'm impressed! Who knew they had such great pizza in the middle of nowhere?! I ordered the small veggie pizza with the pesto sauce, which came with a salad on the side. The pesto sauce is amazing. It made the pizza taste like a gourmet meal. The salad on the side was better than your average side salad! Part of the cheese in it had melted because of the hot pizza, yum! It is highly unlikely, but if I'm ever in the area again I will definitely come back here!

We stopped here by chance on the way back from a hike down the Pololu Valley Lookout trail. The pizza was fantastic, nothing like the typical by-the-slice or fast food style. The price was unbeatable to boot. It didn't take long to get our pizza and it was fresh. We enjoyed local can juices as well, something you can't easily get stateside. It's a very casual and friendly setting, located right across from a large statue of King Kamehameha and a small museum. If you're heading up to Pololu, this is where you should stop for a meal.

The pizza is good and the sandwiches are even better.  I work in town and usually only go out to eat lunch once a week to eat.  Needless to say my lunch breaks are often spent here eating a pastrami sandwich.

This place is awesome for pizza, or hot pastrami sandwich. I work in South Kohala so by the time i get home I don't want to cook so I call up the crew at Snack Shack and they fill my plate and the well done stone cooked pizza says it all. Thanks for all my North Kohala Food!!! Truly appreciated

We got the Huli BBQ Chicken Pizza (large 16" is about $22). Really tasty! Good crisp and chewy thin crust. Ingredients are advertised as mostly local and fresh, and I have to say that the flavor reflected good fresh ingredients.

They also have hot and cold sandwiches, a selection of canned sodas, teas, and local Hawaiian beverages. Also has homemade ice cream that looks tasty, but didn't have the room for a cone after pizza.

Had (3) tables outside that seat (2) each.

Don't be fooled by the unassuming name "Snack Shack", this place does make some good local grindz!

I came here looking for the Maui Onion wrap I had 10 years ago - and to my dismay - did not find it on the menu anymore.  But hey, got the pizza and ice cream instead...very tasty substitutes!

Adorable cafe on the North Shore of the Big Island. We stopped here after going to the lookout. They knew exactly what gluten free was and ensured I had a safe, delicious meal. They made me a fresh green salad with homemade chicken salad. My husband had a huge sandwich. Everything was great. We even had a scoop of the homemade ice cream for dessert as well.

They focus on local, fresh foods. I even picked up a jar of locally produced mac nut butter to enjoy at home!

Their brickoven pizza is excellent. I think they have a deal on Friday nights too. If you're visiting Kapaau or Hawi, get a pizza from the snack shack, you'll be happy you did.
