Great Dive Bar.
Great Prices, Cool Bartenders, Diverse Crowd.
Stopped by this joint a few times during my last trip to New Paltz, had a great time talking to locals, playing darts, and shooting pool. Â
Seems like a real "local" bar, Â and even if you are are tourist, you are treated well...which sometimes doesn't happen when you go to a "locals" bar in a tourist/college town.
Our Bartenders  Arianna(sp) and Eddie were both great, and made the time we spent there very enjoyable.
I will make it a point to stop in the next time I'm in town.
Cheers!
Great little dive bar in a very happening college town. Â Went here to see a band and loved it! Â
Try the Snug Special if you are ordering beer. Â They can't tell you what it is but it's usually something high end they are selling dirt cheap. Â They also have huge pitchers and the prices are extremely cheap!
The crowd is fun and very accepting of new faces. Â I will definitely be back! Keep rockin' Snugs!
Trash, not in a good way.
Dirty taps, constantly. Higher end beer selections sits around, gets skunked. Rogue should not be so mistreated.
Consider yourself warned: Some local/college jerks get a kick out of dropping roofies & worse into drinks, so mind you don't leave your drink unattended. Â a friend of mine was playing an well attended gig & was handed a free drink by a member of the crowd & ended up in a very bad mental space. Â
seriously tiresome, kids. Â this last piece of advice is not a reflection on the bar, but on those that frequent it.
They had Yuengling on tap!!!!!! That automatically gives it 5 stars in my book. This was New Paltz's version of a dive bar....not quite the Double Down Saloon here in Vegas but I had fun. The bartenders were cool and unbelievably grateful for a 20% tip (its a town full of college kids...what do you expect?). Let's just say I was well taken care of that night. The only reason its getting 4 stars was because of some little punk (and I mean little...he was like 5'3) being a butthead and telling me I had to move so they could play pool. Lucky for him i'm a lover and not a fighter so my friends and I ignored him due to his rudeness...and the guys in our group were well over 6 feet tall and strong. We will be back soon Snugs...for more Yuengling and people watching.
Review Source:Hey, I think this bar is fun!
I also think it's unbelievably hilarious that most of the locals consider this bar to be "rowdy".
My first experience here was to see a TOOL cover band (which was great) play. They played on the "stage" in front near the windows, and if you ever don't want to pay to see a band, you can hear 'em loud and clear just outside the window haha. That was near Valentine's Day, and they had some college students set up a stand selling homemade cards and such. It was really cute, I love it when local businesses get involved with the local college students (or vice versa). There's a pool table, and near the corner they always have a few free cd's of local bands to check out. Fun atmosphere. But warning ladies:the bathroom light switch is outside the door--you may need your cell phone for light haha
