Lets talk about another hot spot in uptown Whittier. Don't let the three stars fool you. It's more like a 3.5 rating. Â It's not a big place, it's actually pretty cozy in its own way, and it carries a unique vibe compared to other places in uptown Whittier. Now here's the spin to this place. If you are into various music genres, this is the place to be. It was designed to show the appreciation to the mixing DJ, hence the name, Spin Lounge! That's because on a daily basis, it caters to some of the most talented DJ's that take a break from the norm to give back to the art of DJ'ing. It can be loud later towards the end of the night, but you'll hear and see the latest music videos, the ultimate flash back tunes, and the trend setting EDM here like no other place in uptown Whittier. The beauty of this is that it's not a dance club, but a place where you can take a seat and enjoy today's and yesterday's music that will make you bounce in your seat. Then it's time to order their famous shrimp tacos that are probably the best around. Then spice things up with their inferno Wings. Plus it's one of the rare bars in uptown Whittier that serves a delish variety of tasty pizzas. By the way, if you order any of their sandwiches, bring your appetite for these large portioned meals. There's plenty of more on the menu, but those are some of the highlights. Now to the tasty stuff. Lets not leave out their large inventory of all styles of beers from IPA's to high volume Belgian beers. And they serve all they favs such as Shock Top, Stella, Modelo, and plenty more. One of me recent favs is the "Saladitos" Michelada style beer. This is a must try when visiting the Spin Lounge. So get ready to bob your head, do a little lip singing, and enjoy the visual atmosphere that the Spin Lounge offers on a daily basis. Catch their happy hours as well as their power hour. Daily food specials and they always seem to have a decent $3 beer special every day. One other late night fact, while quite a few places in uptown close by midnight. This place stays open till 2am. Who knows, one evening you might even catch me spinning a set as a guest DJ?!?!
Review Source:Well I already know this place is more geared to the younger crowd. Â Were in the new 30's age range - not; 40 & not exactly dead. Â Thinking if we came early afternoon it might not be too bad. Â I was wrong. Â The smell everyone talks about is there, I can't describe the smell, it hits you, but like the fog, you just can't figure out what it is?
Didn't eat there, so can't comment on that part, although the smell would be a red flag not to want to eat there. Â
Why did we go there again...oh yea they have Hangar 24, but only Columbus IPA (Orange Wheat - don't know if they ran out or don't carry it anymore...website shows they should). Â Now that tasted good, a little steep for a pint, but considering in Uptown everything there is a little on the "cha-chingy" side. Â The bartender was kinda a douche. Â Waitress was Ok.
The clientele there were mostly 20-30 something year-olds so it's age appropriate. Â But thinking back to my youth the people in charge or servicing always did seem cold and mean to the younger generation, but have no problem taking their money. Â But why would one that age want to be treated like shit for patronizing a business just for being young?
The only thing good about this place was the music. Â
Pass on this one.
The old saying goes, "Don't knock it till you try it"... well I tried it and I'm knocking. I'm saddened to say I wasn't impressed. What happened to Cobblestone Cafe? Bring it back! Ok, this isn't a hippie protest or a boycott of the Spin Lounge, more of a tangent I often find myself going on... Anywho, I Â went in to try the place, to find out my friend and I would be the only females in the house. I'm all for fun attention and a good time, but this was kind of creepy. Older, desperate dudes looking for some late night tail isn't a place I put on my list of priorities. Sorry if you're one of guys who goes in here; it's not you it's me. The price was pretty average compared to the rest of the places in Uptown. The drinks were nothing to speak about. I guess I need to give this place another shot and have a few more drinks.
