We came here for the late night happy hour on Saturday night. Â Drinks and appetizers are half off. Â They have two times that you can come for happy hour. It is everyday from 4- 8pm and 12am- 4am. Â We arrived for the late late happy hour at midnight and drinks were only costing about $3 each. What a deal!
The bartender was very nice about recommending new drinks and recommended I try the Skinny Girl Cucumber. Â It was a very refreshing drink. Â You could not even taste the alcohol, although I was assured that it was almost all cucumber vodka. So be careful not to drink too fast.
The environment is pretty chill and they have a small dance floor and karaoke on the weekends. Â This is a great place to get together with friends and just hang out without having too worry about the big crowds you find downtown.
Overall, had a great time here without breaking the wallet. I didn't get a chance to taste the food, but I definitely will be visiting again when I can come back to Reno.
I was in the area with my sis and since I've sort of been on this sports bar kick with burgers, we decided to come here. Wow, wish we picked somewhere else. The first table we sat at was not clean at all, still needed a wipe down and the server didn't even notice. We just switched tables. We had cosmos since my sis seems to be on a kick with those. Geeze, do you guy's put any liquor in these? I wasn't in the mood to fight it so we kept them. I had the burger and fries and my sis for some reason just had a side of fries. She's a bit weird, OK. Took forever to get the food. My sis said, "let's just leave." No, we're not gonna do that we ordered all ready. Well, maybe we should of just left. That was the worst dry burger I've almost ever had. The fries were not hot and I think not cooked enough. Server never came back to check in, just left the check. Paid cash and we are so outta here. Go somewhere else people!
Review Source:Terrible. Â Bad bar tenders, if it requires more then a bottle opener forget it. Â Take the drink you are given because it will be your only chance to get one.... If you get that. Â I did get to meet the owner, now I know why there used to be four locations. The one left will be out of business too. Â Hit sparked, sneakers, or bullies instead.
Review Source:Spiro's is right next door to our apartment complex, so naturally we would give it a try. And when I say give it a try, I mean we go there at least once a week. At this point, I've had almost everything on their menu. The plaka souvlaki is a huge, tasty plate of food. The spanakopita is great as well. Honestly, everything I've had, except a couple of dishes, I really like. The chicken sandwich is kind of bland, and I didn't care for the pastitsio because I don't like nutmeg. Pizza and beer is our weekend ritual at Spiro's, and they make a darn good pizza. The prices are good, and the people that work there treat you like family. And you can't beat their $3 breakfast special(2 eggs, bacon or sausage, and your choice of toast, hashbrowns, or sourdough toast). Playing pool is a good time, and they always turn the hockey game on for us in the pool room.
Review Source:I've driven by this place many times but this was the first time in for me. My wife and I met a buddy there to have a beer. We sat at the bar. The bar service was very good. My beer had shards of ice floating in it (I love that!). I had the Spanokopita (not sure on the spelling) and my Wife had BBQ wings with fries. Everything tasted very good and fresh. The fries were so good. Cooked perfectly with a touch of salt and not greasy. We will definitely go back for more!
Review Source:Food was good, but what's up with the drinks? My friend and I ordered Greygoose with club soda and lime. Â We coulnd't taste ANY alcohol in it! I seriously thought they forgot it. Â So I asked the waitress if possibly they might have overlooked putting in the Grey Goose. Â She told me she saw the bartender pour it. Â She suggested next time to get it in a short glass instead of a tall glass. Â So we had another. Â Same thing, you couldn't taste a drop! Crazy!!! I'd rather pay top price for Grey Goose rather than $2.50-$2.75 for a non-alcoholic drink! I was very dissapointed. Â
We did have a Chicken Cesar Salad that was very good. Â
I know the economy sucks and you gotta cut somewhere, but a bar shouldn't cut the alcohol that bad.
Dropped in because my boyfriend and his friends were watching a game. I ordered a virgin pina colada because I'm pregnant, it definitely hit the spot.
Ordered their calamari and spiros gyros to go. I got the calamari for $5 because they have a happy hour appetizers and drink special, the gyro was delicious, and the salad and calamari, it tasted fresh and all the right flavors were there.
I had some of my boyfriends Buffalo wings it was a sour tang but really good, when I crave it again ill definitely go there, Â The bartender who is the owners daughter was really friendly. The atmosphere was good for a bar, clean, and inviting. Didnt seem ghetto or dirty at all.
I noticed they have a $2 breakfast special everyday all day, 2 eggs, 2 pancakes and 2 sausages or 2 Bacon. Haven't tried it but when I want a inexpensive breakfast its just a walk away from where I live.
Ill definitely be back soon, great service, good food, easy going atmosphere!
I needed a place to watch Lebron James' return with the Miami Heat to Cleveland and picked Spiros.
I haven't been in here in probably five years. I picked a good time to go. Every day, I think from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., they have half price on drinks and $5 appetizers. I wanted to try the Greek food. But at those prices I couldn't prass up the appetizers.
I got wings and nachos. The wings were nice. Good flavor and they weren't overcooked. The nachos were pretty meh.
I got two drinks, a margarita and something with Vodka and 7-Up. The margarita was a nice deal for $2.75.
Service was good and friendly. The regulars seemed mellow.
I have to come back and try the Greek food. When they were down on Longley they did a pretty mean gyro. The owner moved to Sparks and it changed hands later and the quality of Greek food declined. I want to see if it returned to its former greatness.
One quibble: A placing selling Greek food should list the correct pronunciation of gyro on its menu. Spiro's lists it with a hard g. It's pronounced year-ro. Look at my photo.
Since I'm in cahoots with the Reno-Greek Mafia, it was only right that they took me to Spiro's for a night of Spanakopita, slutty drinks and attempted drunkenness/karaoke. The place was packed for a Wolf Pack football game so we sat outside on these built in tables/chairs that looked like a big toy for obese people.
When the crowd died down and only the true and dedicated Reno/Sparks style white trash remained, we ordered up a healthy dose of Spanakopita and pizzas. Being a spanakopita connoisseur, it was pretty good for being served at a bar in the middle of no where! The pizza was delicious and insiders tell me they make their pizzas only with the finest of ingredients. Ssshhhhh...
The service was above and beyond your typical sports bar. Our semi rowdy group had multiple servers looking after us, although the beveraging didn't get too extreme. The best part was the pot bellied Karaoke "DJ" who walked around talking on his cell phone like he was too cool to be a DJ at Spiro's Bar and Grill in Sparks, Reno. Either he was a DIVA straight off his leer jet from NYC or he had TMMPS (Too Many Moving Parts Syndrome) which caused him to take 55 minutes to play a request with  a total of 2 people on the list and about 15 people in the bar. Doh! This guy is entertaining. I should've got my picture with him and maybe even an autograph.
Wait it gets even better, the bill for a round or two of drinks for 10 people was something like $50. No Joke. Toto we're in Reno, not LA!!!
When Spiros was a chain, their food and service was much better. Â They had one in Reno that they sold to another chain-the name is slipping my mind right now. Â
Anyways, the Spiros in Sparks is simply ok. Â The Greek food is pretty good, but the service and the cleanliness is below par! My friend and I went there for dinner, and the glasses were filthy!!! I had a lipstick stain on mine and floaty white things in my beer. Â Mind you, I didnt notice until my friend pointed out the caked-on salt like substance on her glass. Â GROSS! Â I did give it an ok review because the food was good.
Sports bars are not where you will usually find me, because the main activities that take place there (playing pool, drinking beer, getting hit on) are not ones that I find interesting. Â But every so often, against my better judgment, I allow a friend to drag me to one of these places.
Spiro's is a local chain of sports bars, and the snappy pseudo-Acropolis font on their sign is about as Greek as they get. Â Okay, yes, you can get a Greek salad there, and I think gyros as well, but that's as far as it goes. Â Personally, I'd like to see the servers in togas and laurel wreaths, but then I'm here in Reno, where costumed waiters are pretty much the norm.
Anyway, the menu has all the usual greasy, deep-fried bar food. Â I had chicken fingers and fries here that were just fine, and apparently they make pretty good sandwiches, too. Â The Greek salad is heavily sprinkled with feta and a yummy dressing, so although it's not exactly healthy, it's a tasty side. Â
For whatever reason, business is slow here, so the bar area is pretty quiet - maybe a half-dozen people on a Saturday evening. Â The back room contains some pool tables and the most expensive jukebox I've ever seen ($1 per song! Â And the music is all Nickelstain'dcreedback crap). Â Pool is $1 per game, and there's table service in the back room, so you don't even have to lumber over to the bar for your fatty food. Â Things liven up considerably when the karaoke starts, although the crowd is well-behaved and happy-drunk, so it's fun to watch them boozily link arms and belt out country songs or bad '90s one-hit wonders.
Spiro's is a family sports bar, if such a thing exists - the vibe is very mellow and non-sleazy, and my friend regularly takes her young son there to play pool. Â The bathrooms are clean and not scary. Â You could certainly go there to watch a game or have a quick meal without being harassed by icky guys, so as sports bars go, Spiro's is about as good as they come.
