The Spot Club is my favorite little bar,2 or 3 nites a week they have live music. On Sundaysthere is a live Jamm session from 5 to 9+.They just opened up the side and back,so now there's lots of space outside, there's misters installed to cool the area in the summer. The guitar player said the backyard has a real Austin bar feel to it.there's flat screens so the big games are always on. Monday's they have free pool all day.I call the bartenders style as sassy but classy, all good people. Rose is the Queen Bee, since Iv been going to The Spot Clubshe's done everything she can to improve her patrons experience. The old reviews posted here don't do this bar justice,it's a cool place for all that stop by. Oh yea IV been going there about 6months and have never seen anyone dance on the bar,I'm a guy but would also find that very low class,if that happend in the past it doesn't now. " show less
Review Source:Best bar in Houston. Most people don't think of a bar at the end of a stripmall as a landmark, however once you get inside you understand the magic. If it were a standalone building, this bar would be the equivalent of Cheers. Rose runs a sweet ship, and fills it with good people, good music, good vibrations. Buckets of Lone Star at fantastic prices plus awesome bartenders make this place comfortable and you will meet all the regulars here. I truly enjoy my time here and so should you. :)
Review Source:The Spot has been the spot for some dive bar action since my grandma was young, doing up her hair and throwing high heels on. No really, she really use to come to The Spot before I was born.
They have a small dance floor, couple pool tables, a few old skool video games, and some flat screens on the walls.
Gracing the walls along the top are large black & white photos of solid country gold singers. Â The two lady bartenders are good at what they do, yet have the look that they will kick you and your best friends butt if ya give 'em any lip. Really though, they are nice ladies.
There are a lot of regulars that come here as well.
Looking for a decent bar in this area of town (near North Central/Northwest). The quest continues, but The Spot will do in A Pinch. They have a full bar with real liquor which for some reason gets harder and harder to find around here. Bar staff are very nice, prompt, and attentive. Prices are reasonable. Haven't tried the food, yet, but plan to do so. Am VERY HAPPY that they have good live music. I hope they continue to do so.
HOWEVER, I go to a bar to relax, maybe talk to people, and hopefully hear good music. Not much chance here, at least on weekend nights. For reasons unbeknownst to any half-rational female, the owner seems to think that at intermissions, having women dancing on the bar will create an atmosphere of fun. This "feature" simply makes me want to leave. Fast. Â If I hadn't liked the band, I would have. The only thing women dancing on the bar attracts is a bunch of dorky guys who gawk at them. You know the types, the ones that cannot put a sentence together, much less relate intellectually to a female. No chance to talk to real folks who might have something interesting to say. Very unconfortable. No reason to stay (unless the band is good, which that night , it was.)
I was wondering why mostly that "certain type" of guy and next to no women at all were seated at the bar. What a downer.
Sometimes a bit dangerous, sometimes a bit raunchy, usually just very dark and cool. In the summer you can emerge from the timelessness, blinking into the sunlight, not sure if it is morning or afternoon.
The Spot has some great events like crawfish boils and chili cook-outs, but its real reason for existence is to isolate you from reality and liquefy your assets.
Good place to go to meet people trying to forget other people.
The Spot Club is another one of my favorite dive bars in Houston. Â It's located in a strip center, which makes it sorta shady the lack of windows helps with that, too.
Jan is the sweatheart behind the bar. Â You definitely want to be on her good side now that the smoking ban is in effect. Â She's quick witted with a tongue to match and will let you konw if you're pissing her off. Â
Oh, and for you smokers, there's now a little patio area out front with a few tables so that you can kick back and suck down a cig without killing the rest of us.
