Was driving by thinking about this joint, then saw it was closing and figured I'd get my last chance to comment. My (deceased) mother ate here religiously, I ate here once in a while. Hate to admit it, but in a weird way, some of the food was good - kinda like McD's is good, it wasn't 'authentic" it was... what it was, and you like it, but you don't know why..
Anyway, every year I'd get a coupon for something free - I think pasta, and a side salad or something trivial.
And, *gasp* I'd use it.
Last time I ever set foot in the dive, few years ago, a manger came out to "let me know" that "I wouldn't be doing this again next year" and "next year you're going to have to order more". Doing what - redeeming the coupon they send me, under the terms printed on it (dine-in!), Â and not ordering much more? I've got a neurological disorder, eating can make me ill, so I'd carry out, and I never order very much - hence a free coupon for a small meal isn't going to make me order much more. And I guess if you carry out you are invisible.
They never sent me another coupon - not that I had any intentions of going back after the rude service. Not sorry to see them close down.
My family and I have been eating at The Springfield Pasta Company for years! We highly recommend this restaurant. We love the Chicken Paradiso, which is a lightly breaded chicken breast served in a white wine sauce with mushrooms, broccoli, prosciutto, and provel cheese. It has more to it and it tastes amazing! This is just one of our favorites. We always are treated great here. Our servers are prompt and courteous, the management checks in with us and makes us feel like family. You have to give a place more than one try. Everyone has a not so perfect day. Since we have four kids, we love to go on Sundays after church because kids eat free with an adult meal. We also love the salad here. It isn't like any other place. By the way, we recently tried a couple of their sandwiches and they were amazing. There were big enough for two and delicious! Go ahead and give them a try.
Review Source:Skip it! This restaurant is trying to be an Olive Garden at twice the price, but seriously missing the mark. Five us came here during the dinner hour, mid-week. We were seated right away, not surprising now since we know the food is so lousy. Here's a quick synopsis:
Manicotti - 3 Stars. Only one person in our party had been here before, and this is what she always orders. She liked it, but didn't rave about it.
Golden Toasted Ravioli - 1 Star. The two major complaints with the toasted ravioli is that there wasn't much stuffing in the ravioli at all, and the dipping sauce was really thick. If you are looking for a pasta to share, this would be okay. It's really more of an appetizer than a meal. Think of fried mozzarella stick, with barely any mozzarella inside and you'll kind of get the idea of what it was.
Penne Marinara - 1 Star. My grandmother couldn't even stomach this. The dish was very, very plain. Red sauce with had a strong basil taste. Basil gives her stomach issues. She took one bite and left the rest on the table.
Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo - 1 Star. I've never had a watery Alfredo sauce before. Since it's made from cheese and cream, it seems ridiculous to me that the sauce could even be watery. The shrimp in the meal were tasty, but there weren't very many of them. All in all, it was quite bland.
Ravioli al Forno - 4 Star. My husband actually really enjoyed this dish. It was flavorful and hearty. If you are going to eat here, order this.
Most of our meals came with a house salad. The salad has lettuce, red peppers, avocado hearts in it. This could have been good. Unfortunately, they must have made a big batch earlier in the day and pre-applied the dressing, then let it sit around for several hours. The lettuce was completely wilted. The avocado hearts were few and far between.
We did get a refill on our rolls, which we appreciated. But the rolls weren't actually that tasty. I don't think the recipe has enough butter in it or something.
Really, just skip this restaurant. There were not any redeeming qualities: inferior food, inferior service, expensive prices.
Okay first of all let me say that I don't normally write restaurant reviews... but the service here was so terrible that I feel inclined to tell someone about it. I've been here twice, once during normal dinner hours and the second on a Sunday afternoon. Â Both times there was no wait and only 5 tables in the whole restaurant. Â
The first time we had a very nice waitress, but VERY slow... It took her about 7-10 minutes to come get our drink orders and greet us and about another 10 minutes to actually bring us our drinks and take our order. There were 2 servers on, so I know she didn't have all the other tables in the restaurant. She brought us our salads another 10 minutes after the order was placed, which was sort of timely. Â We got our meal in 15 minutes and it tasted good (got what I normally get--tortellini). Â After we started eating we finally got our rolls you're supposed to get BEFORE dinner... Drink refills were scarce as we could never find her around to ask her for more, but really, why should I need to ask for a drink refill? total meal time for 2 people: about an hour and 10 minutes with no more than 5 tables in the whole place.
The second experience came today... Different server, but the one from the first visit was there. He was nice, seemed like he knew what he was doing at first. Asked for our drink order on time (we had a party of 6) and brought them out within 5 minutes. Â Got our orders and brought out the salads. One member of our table had a beer, which even after asking a few times never got another one and when he did come around to it he said they were all out of it. We had our drinks filled once after the original order (and they had been empty for all of the meal). Â Another member of our table also asked for ketchup multiple times which was never brought out, so we had to ask the manager. Â The manager also had to pre-bus our table because we were completely out of space on the table and the waiter hadn't been around for 15 minutes. Our bread rolls were never brought out, but other tables there did get them. My tortellini was way overcooked and mushy. Horrible. No one else seemed to have an issue with the food though so if you want to wait a while for your food and deal with bad service with good food--this place is for you). Â During this same visit, I noticed a different table walking around with their credit card and black receipt book looking for their server to pay. Â Couldn't find them after walking around for a few minutes and the manager just stared at the customer and didn't offer to help them find their server or check them out herself. Just wonderful customer service (Note: sarcasm).
Once again I've only been here twice, but after those two awful experiences I will probably never come back. I'm sure there were some other things I left out that I have forgotten about, but I don't think i've ever been this mad about bad service at a restaurant ever--I wasn't even the one paying for it and I was mad. Â I've worked in the restaurant industry and know what it's like to be crowded and have a lot to do, but this was no excuse especially with 5 whole tables in the restaurant.
oh and P.S. half of our table got the small portion of our pasta while the other got the large portion... the outside of the pasta plate is bigger on the large plate, but the actual size of the bowl where the pasta goes is the same, so if you ever do go here get the small portion and save yourself money, it's the same size.
I'll second Keeton on this one. I really like the Pasta House Co. They have great food, but it's very pricey for what you get... most dishes run around $15-$16 where you could get them just as good elsewhere for less than $10. If you've got dough in pocket and you want good food, then Pasta House Co. works.
Review Source:I'm kinda torn on this one... On one hand, all the food here is usually very tasty sometimes their portions lack and sometimes they're huge.  Across the board they are a little more expensive than the rest of the pasta places on the block however, with some of their meals are worth every dime. I feel three stars is good for now and certainly wouldn't discourage  anyone to eat there, just feel the place has to much of a corporate feel.
