Stephanie's Lounge

The owner Stephanie started Happy Hour 2 hours early for us.... Gave us free pupups.  The beers were cheap, the food was great, and the service was excellent! Highly recommend!!!

Stephanie's is definitely a good experience if you are looking for food and karaoke fun.  Its a bit off the beaten path but good things come to the eye of those who seek and are willing to park across the street.

The pupus are nothing short of amazing.  They are free, they are delicious and they will bring them to you straight off.  None of this "we will see how long they stay" nonsense.  They bring them piping hot and the grade "A" stuff too.  Shrimp, chop steak and rangoons.  No luke warm hotdogs or cold plain tofu here.  They bring plenty enough even if you have a large group.

The drinks were not abhorrently priced but were not remarkably low either.  I don't think they do beers on tap but i could be wrong about that.  Their mixed drinks are stiff enough and shots are fairly priced and poured.

Karaoke is not a complete detractor to conversation as it is at some bars.  Its not obscenely loud but it is audible and clear enough to feel confident if one so chooses to take up the mic.  They are probably the fairest bar in town as far as facilitating tables taking turns with no one table being karaoke stars all night whilst everyone must endure hearing "strawberry wine" or "Sunflower" for the Umpteenth millionth time.

The service is good.  The waitstaff is polite and sociable but at times can seem like they have too many tasks at hand.  This is a  bar that i feel would benefit from having extra workers on higher traffic days.  I may have just been in there on a short staffed day when a worker is suddenly not available but still.  Its not conducive to the overall experience  to skimp on servers.  The place is clean as well and I find they do a wonderful job taking care of the spot.

The atmosphere is a bit on the darker side but it is a bar so whatever.  The furniture seems to be too large for a bar of that size and it does seem to limit the capacity or functionality if you were to come in a large group.  Groups of more than 4 people either gotta squeeze in or segregate onto several tables (given they are available).  I've also seen the place packed like a zoo and tables were scarce.  Ive only seen it like that occasionally though.

The only real complaint i have about the place is its location.  It has only like 4 of its own parking stalls and you must park by Noris and walk or behind Bamboo garden which also has not much parking or across the street in front of Cost U Less.  Its not a horribly long walk but it sucks if its raining and its Hilo so it rains a lot.  Another problem I have with the location is that it is not as visible to passer-bys as bamboo garden.  I have many times explained to people how to get there and they end up in bamboo garden.

Me and my girlfriends love Stephanie's Lounge! They have a great family oriented staff. Pupus are so good and its free! I especially love its cleaniless and one man bathrooms. Music is not blarring loud and there are a bunch of t.vs everywhere that isn't the same old out dated crap! Music is actually something you would see the in the bigger bars too. I love it! Parking could be bigger but beggers can't be choosers!
