What a train wreck! During the 4th of july festivities, stockade was selling pulled pork sliders outside. We thought wed give them a 2nd chance. Oh my! $7 for One tiny slider!! Really?! Talked to the owner& she blew us off! She could have blown twice the legal limit into a breathalyzer as well!!

Go here almost every time up in the area, super nice people work here. The food is gooood and plenty of it. Joe , was our waiter this last time. If you like Steak, & BBQ,
chicken, etc. do not be afraid, looks are deceiving. You will not be disappointed.

This place is exactly what you expect, a classic mountain bar with cold beer and good food.

This is a really great place to eat at. It has a small dining area that has all kinds of crazy stuff hanging from the ceiling and also a nice patio out back . The weather was great so we sat outside. The waitress was really nice and funny and the food is really good. I had the hamburger and my husband the salmon, both were very good. The prices are reasonable and a good variety on the menu. Next time I'd like to try the BBQ, it looked and smelled wonderful!

Intimidating on the outside but that doesn't mean this place should be passed up. This place has been around since the 1930's! Crazy! Some of the items hanging from the ceiling were probably used back then too. It's hard to get my wife to try new things but when I dragged her into this place she ended up leaving happy. Our server and bartender were genuine and extremely attentive. The food was awesome, missed out on BBQ since we were there too early but I definitely want to come back to try it. Great experience and opened my wife's eyes to not judging books by their covers. Thanks Belinda!

Coolest BBQ place up the mountain.  Smells good, tastes good and the people that work there are super cool.

I come here whenever we are up at our cabin.  Best burger in the mountains, hands down.  Nice cold beers too, but I got laughed at when I asked if they had an IPA.  Serves me right.  And don't mind the confederate flags or the bumper sticker that reads...  "Obama, come out and play".  Only in Crestline!

Went here on a Friday Night.  Didn't really look at the Menu items to eat. We all ate off of the Special Items. The BBQ was really good. The Ribs fell off the bone. And the others plates were very flavorful. The only thing I would do different is give the inside a deep cleaning. We didn't know that there was aback patio were you can sit and enjoy your meal with a few really pretty water fountains made by the cook. He was really nice and chit chatted with us for a bit. Our service was excellent. Our server as well as the bartender came over 4X + to make sure everything was alright. Definitely will be back.

After several weeks of driving by and seeing the Taco Tuesday sign, we decided to stop in for dinner. The atmosphere is good & the drinks weren't bad. The taco's themselves were good & well priced but all of that was completely hard to appreciate with the lack of service. After waiting over 20 minutes and being ignored, my husband went around to the kitchen to "ask" the waitress if we could order only to be told " when I get a chance". She still walked by us twice - without even an acknowledgement. Finally after 40 minutes and the fact that I started gathering my things to leave- the bartender came over to take the order. Another 30 minutes to get my husbands tacos and then being asked by the Bartender what I had ordered. Then the waitress comes over and asks if we'd like to order. The place itself & food are a waste with such horrible service. It's such a shame!!

The outside looks pretty intimidating, but based on good reviews we tried it out and it was really good.  Tasty, inexpensive BBQ food w/ really friendly service and interesting ambiance.  Steak, baked potato and veggie plate was only $10, and the burger and curly fries were delicious too.

It was really empty when we were there, around 7:30 on a Monday night, so we had service was really attentive, and we had multiple staff asking us how we were enjoying our meals.  I was disappointed that they didn't serve any draft beers, but I'd come back.  Maybe try out the pool table next time.

BBQ was good!   Not the best but good.  Portions were good sized and Sharon the waitress was one of the best waitresses I've ever had.   Request her by name.

We have been going to the Stockade for years and it is one of the best places to dine on the mountain.  Love the old charm to the building...like stepping back into time.  You can play a game of pool, have some drinks, listen to the juke box and order a steak.  The locals are pretty awesome too.

I used to love this place, but Carol raised the prices, alot,  on the same food.  It's ridiculous to pay $10.95 for a calamari 'appetizer' filet cut into pieces that I could buy at Goodwins for under $1.00.  This is the only place that does a calamari appetizer this way, and it's just not right...pounded filet is for a dinner, the whole squid cut up into circular pieces is for appetizers.  3/4 cup of mushrooms sauteed in butter will cost you $8.95, really?  The quality of meat is okay, and it's ridiculous to pay $18 + for a substandard steak.  If you're going to raise the prices, then raise the food quality, or at least do some kind of refurbishing.  I mean how long has that nasty bench been in the women't bathroom, it's really gross.  Also, why is it that the servers/bartender never know what kind of beer there is?  Why is it always changing?  We go because the staff is so friendly; they are really great.  The food has gone downhill.

Looks can be deceiving. Worth the visit. It looks much like a biker bar, but when they start that smoker up outside, the scent permeates the area. That's what drew me in. I've been several times and have never been disappointed. The inside dining area is dark...lighting-wise, so sometimes it's a little tough to read the menu at night, depending on where you get seated. It's small and the tables are close together. The service was fantastic. The waitresses we had were so inviting and friendly. The food was simply fantastic. Prices are moderate and I've never had to wait long. I'm definitely a fan.

We've been here several times for Taco Tuesday. Love the tacos. All of them are very good. The atmosphere in the bar is great as well. The staff is very friendly. The only issue they ran out of my husbands favorite beer. Miller Lite. How do you run out of this? I'll be back and maybe I'll try something on the regular menu next time.

Ok, so I've been there 3 or 4 times since my first review, and I have to tell you that they have some of the friendliest people working there.  They also have a cook in the kitchen who threw down one of the best Bleu Cheese Burgers, I've ever eaten.  If you're into steak, then how about a cut of NY strip with a baked potato, veggies and a bunch of friendly people around you for $9.95.  I'm not talking DENNY'S steak.  I'm talking about a tender (probably select) cut of NY here!

I was a little nervous about this place the first 2 times I've been, but I have to tell you that each time I've visited there, I've felt entirely welcomed, been quickly served, met tons of nice people, and always want to come back.

Don't be deceived by the looks.  (t kind of looks like a biker bar, and maybe it is!) I've been there on a Friday night, Saturday night, and a weeknight (DURING VACATION!!!), and haven't had anything but good times.

Their food is AWESOME!  Let me repeat...Not just awesome bar food, but awesome food PERIOD

my husband and i went to lake gregory for a mini-vacay and the hotel owner had recommended this restaurant.  when you walk in, you immediately enter the bar.  a few steps in and you're in the restaurant.  it has a nice, rustic/woodsy feel inside.  although the lighting was a little too dim for us.  this particular night we went, they had told us they were all out of baby back ribs for the night.  NOOO!!!  so i ordered some steak and my husband had a beef sandwich.  our beef was a little dry and my "well" steak was a little too well done for my taste.  however, i thought the server was awesome, so friendly and accommodating.  and one must try their famous apple salad dressing.  very delish!

if we're ever in the area again, we definitely need to stop by to try those ribs.

FOOD:  for a supposed bbq place, the meat and sauce were nothing spectacular.  Portions were average, and the sides were just ok.

SERVICE:  again, underwhelming.  The waitress was kind of a busy-body, disturbing our conversation too often without being aware of what was going on at the table.

LOCATION & AMBIANCE:  they are located in the "downtown" area of Crestline near Lake Gregory, so it's convenient if you're staying in this mountain community.  Inside, the decor is like a western dive, but is is fairly clean.  There's a pool table and bar, but the dining area is a little cramped.

VALUE:  just ok.  It's not a great deal, but, again, this is a resort area.

Wow!  Talk about a totally awesome random find!  The carnie and I were on a mountain adventure for the first part of the 4th of July weekend.  After a full morning of hiking we decided to spend a beautiful afternoon swimming in Lake Gregory.  Maybe it's the mountain air or the clear, clean water (or possibly just keeping up with an ultra-athletic 23 year old aerialist all day, haha) but after a few hours we were starving.  Too hungry as a matter of fact to head back to the campsite and cook up the feast I had recently purchased at the local grocer.  So we left everything on ice and headed up the 'strip' in Crestline looking for sustenance.  Lo and behold a mile up the road there is a building with a sign out front proclaiming 'Whiskey and Grub!'   My kind of place haha.  So we grab a couple beers from the dark/divey/mountain themed interior and head to the back deck to look over the menu and enjoy a little local flavor courtesy of a few colorful and somewhat drunken regulars.  Now the best part:  The food!  Holy crap was it good!  They were having a BBQ which they apparently do every weekend, and who am I to turn down ribs on the 4th (well 2nd actually) of July.  These were easily the best ribs I have had since moving to California; smoky, tender and with a great sauce!  And I grew up in Alabama and used to live across the street from Daddy D'z in ATL so I know good BBQ!!!  The sides were homemade and totally delicious. This place does everything homemade, from the salad dressings, to the gravy on my mashed potatoes and even the baked beans.  Impressive!  The real kicker though was my lady, on a whim, ordered the chicken piccata and it was amazing!!  Seriously, chicken piccata from a dive bar in the middle of a tiny mountain town.  It was cooked perfectly crispy and the lemon caper sauce made me want to lick the plate.  The icing on the cake of the whole experience (pun intended) was after our meal, the waitress brought us over a couple of free cupcakes from a batch she had made that morning.  Guess what?  They were delicious too!  And so off we went, full bellied to enjoy the evening fireworks display over the lake...  Next time I'm backpacking in San Bernardino, I will make sure to stop by the Stockade.  It was another great find on a weekend so full of beauty and pleasure it almost seems like a dream...

Real old west ambiance and friendly staff. You will not leave hungry. Our food was good, cooked to order  ...maybe a little expensive for the type of fare offered, and although good it was certainly not the best I'd ever had. Negative: restrooms were really unpleasant:, uncleaned and smelly (and the smell carried into the restaurant). Our experience was not as good as some the other reviewers, but maybe we visited on an unlucky day.

My man and I love it here.  Best BBQ we have had in California, in fact everything I have ordered was super yummy.  Service is just....ok but we go in knowing that and it helps.  If they are busy they might ignore you for awhile so don't expect to be in and out quickly.

The Stockade is a mountain Icon, Great food! Stiff pours and a comfortable setting. Staff is always accommodating and the local bar crowd can be quite entertaining at times. For a great meal at a fair price stop by the Stockade.

First the service could be more on top of their game. Just hand out the water and menus when customers are seated. The good part is the BBQ sauce is great. The meat is tender and juicy. The bad part is that it was not hot enough and either was the bread when it was served. I got the combo with pork ribs and brisket. Of the two meats I liked the Brisket the most. There was too much fat on the Pork Ribs. They call them Baby Back Ribs  but they seemed quite large for Baby Back Ribs. I will try this place again because the Bar B Q  is the real deal.

We visited Stockade after reading the positive reviews here on yelp and we were not disappointed. The baby back ribs we ordered were wonderful; cooked perfectly with delicious bourbon BBQ sauce. I got a cup of cream of broccoli soup to start and it too was delicious. But what really stood out were the Bloody Marys we ordered with our dinner. I don't what special recipe they've got, but I would return for those alone.

The service and atmosphere were also lovely; very friendly waitress and the cook, who appeared later on, even asked us, "What did I cook for you?" and how it was.

    We will definitely be back.

How odd a few months make... After writing my scathing review of the Stockade, literally a few days later, we thought we would give it another shot.  GLAD WE DID.  This place is SO much better now.. Service is AWESOME and VERY friendly folks.  We now frequent this place monthly.
I don't know if the owners saw my review or what, but now... we LOVE this place.  All problems fixed.

great atmosphere - seems like a very old time western bar with a restaurant attached.  Very nice staff.  Food is pretty good and the prices are fair.  Good place to start your night of fun!!

If you're on a trip to escape the air pollution in Riverside/San Bernardino as I was last sunday, and your brave enough to enter a dive-y saloon for a taste of the local fare, and an earful from the trash talking bar patrons, you might be in for a treat.

For a party of 8 they handled business, even with a second large party next to us. I'd recommend the BBQ specials advertised on the weekends over some of the other menu options. The ribs were tasty, and satisfying, steaks not bad, all at a pretty reasonable price.

The staff had a local townie kinda vibe, and weren't trying to impress anyone.

This place fits right in with the tired old biker stop landscape, "Yay! I'm a fan."

My wife and I were in Crestline again this past Memorial Day weekend. Crestline has become our favorite getaway. The last time we came we stopped by the Stockade because we saw some other bikes parked out front and knew this was our place to be. We went in and as soon as we walked in we were greeted with a bunch of hello's, and were did we ride from and were are we headed. The place was full of nice friendly folks. We had an awesome breakfast, and told ourselves that we would be back. Now to the back part. We were back in town and had to stop by once again. The place was the same as before. We were greeted with a round of hello's and how are we doing's. We were disappointed to find out that the breakfast cook had called in sick that day, so no breakfast for us. :( But other than that, we had a great experience, and everyone was great. We were even given some ideas about were we could go eat breakfast since they were not serving that day. We will be back!!

My favorite local hang out. Better than average "pub food". Go there for Taco Tuesdays!

Lucy is my favorite bartender. She's smart and sassy and really makes you feel right at home, and she remembers your usual if you go there a couple of times!

Be prepared to know how to make your own cocktail though, because there's a couple new staff who just got into bartending, but if they mess up its generally because they put too much alcohol in it and not enough mixer. Fine by me! ;D

We occasionally spend a pleasant afternoon driving up to Crestline for dinner at this restaurant--bar. The food is good and the atmosphere is interesting.

Locals hang out at the bar but make you feel at home rather than scowl at the flatlanders. Be sure to try their calamari, it is some of the best I have had--including from seafood places near the ocean. They bread it with cracker crumbs.

They make a great bloody mary. I tried to get their mix recipe but they wouldn't part with it.
