Let me begin by saying that I love Subway sandwiches and salads enough to eat there about once or twice during each work week.  It is affordable, accessible and most times fresh.

However, I am writing today because I am frankly FED UP with the south jefferson location.  This particular location is a half block walk from my home and the most convenient for me to visit on the way to and from work everyday.  Unfortunately, this is also the ABSOLUTE WORST SUBWAY I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!  I have overlooked minor shortcomings in the past however this morning, visiting this Subway for breakfast has left me with a very bitter taste in my mouth.

To begin, I'll mention I was the only person ordering and only one of two people in the entire store.  When I placed my order "footlong sausage, egg and cheese on Italian herb & cheese" the short gentleman behind the counter scoffed at me and asked if I 'really wanted a footlong?" At least that is what I think he said as it was nearly impossible to clearly understand him through his heavy accent.  When I told his I was sure that I wanted a footlong, he proceeded protest and joke that I could not possibly want the larger sandwich.  I reassured him once again that I was sure of my order (though at this point he made me feel rather embarrassed for ordering a large sandwich EVEN though I had planned to eat it for both breakfast and lunch).  Once he was finally convinced he went on to ask me again what kind of bread I wanted, then asked me to repeat it because he did not understand.  Next he automatically grabbed for the yellow egg product (which he visible felt in front of me and made a face because it was so hard).  After I corrected him and insisted that I would like the egg white, he made the same puzzled face when he felt that all the egg whites were equally as firm.  Instead of locating fresh egg whites he placed the first two in the microwave to 'soften them up.'  At this point another man got in line behind me.  The sandwich clerk again asked me what kind of meat I wanted and could not understand my request for sausage so he went to find another employee to translate.  Once the request was clear there was no sausage in sight so the second employee produced some frozen product from the back and again placed it in the microwave to 'soften it up.' Once the meat and egg were assembled I had to ask three times to get an adequate amount of cheese on the sandwich, the end result was a still laughable amount of monterey cheddar...in fact the man behind me in line actually laughed out loud. After the cheese was on the sandwich the clerks automatically placed the sandwich on a rack to be toasted.  When I protested the clerks argued with me and toasted the sandwich any way.  At this point it may have been more useful for these employees to just decide what I wanted for breakfast for me.  Once the final sandwich was ready I wanted the zesty cucumber sauce to top it off.  The two employees had no idea what I was talking about until I pointed to a picture of the veggie falafel sandwich behind the counter. Then instead of attempting to locate the sauce i wanted they suggested I use ranch because it was similar and already in the sauce station.  I finally ordered a couple cookies, which were the best part of this particular trip because they were fresh out of the oven.

Once I had finally paid and collected my food I walked out the front door to find a third employee in full shirt/hat uniform smoking a cigarette right next to the door, YUCK!

It is doubtful that I will ever return to this location.  Instead i will walk the extra blocks to visit the one that is out of the way of work and home.  However, I'm not sure that I will be eating at a Subway for a long time because this last freezer burned sandwich left a nasty taste in my mouth.

Oh My GOSH.  Do not go here.  I walked in to order a cookie and use the bathroom.  Here's how the transaction went down:

I ordered a cookie and handed the money to my husband so I could use the restroom.

Walked over to the restroom to discover it was locked.  The w(b)itch behind the counter goes "Yeah, the bathrooms are closed"

Me: But I really, really, really have to go ((imagine me doing the dance that a 4 year old does when she needs to use the restroom))

"Lady" behind the counter in a sarcastic tone: Yeah, they're "really, really really" closed.

    WOW.

There's a sign on the bathroom door that said they're for paying customers only.  I totally get this--HENCE WHY I WAS BUYING SOMETHING.

    Thanks, lady.  You suck.

The food is fine.  It's a Subway.

But this Subway says it is open until 3 on Saturdays and Sundays.  I live nearby and have gone down multiple times around 2:45 only to find that it is closed.  There's always a worker in there behind the counter, but the door is locked and they just ignore me.  If you want to close at 2:30, then make that your hours.  If your hours say 3, I expect you to be open until 3.
