We stopped by at 7:30 a.m. today (Wednesday 6/12/20130 and the place was closed. There was a sign in the window "Opening Soon," as if it was being remodeled or changing owners or something like that.

If they've changed their hours, then they should update their website, which says this location opens at 7:00 a.m..

My new favorite spot! Food is delicious and they have awesome drinks. Staff is super nice & great at what they do! Been here all 3 days I've been here in Grand Rapids, MI It's a must check out place! General manager Dave Kelly is a blast! We were treated like family. Wish I could give it more than 5 stars! I am for sure coming back to this place next time I visit. :)

On a trip to Grand Rapids for a conference weekend, my boyfriend and I were disappointed at the selection of good breakfast spots within walking distance of the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel. We didn't have high hopes for Sundance when we saw it on Yelp, but we believe in good ratings, and we certainly believe in being open 7 days a week. We were *instant* regulars once we had our first breakfast here. We ate at least one meal per day at Sundance the whole weekend!

I'm eager to visit the next time I'm in town at their coming location. I think they could use a more "restaurant" appeal instead of the "former office" look they currently deal with. Even though the aesthetics don't make much sense, they saved my proverbial bacon when good food was needed.

This review is for takeout only.

I came here for lunch with three other coworkers.  Parking was limited and only street parking from what I saw.  We ordered there in front of the bar.

I ordered the Sante Fe Chicken wrap ($8.99) and so did two others. Lol it took about 20 minutes before our food was ready.  I could only imagine how long it would have taken if we were dining in.

The Sante Fe Chicken wrap was okay at best.  It also came with chips and salsa.  The salsa was very bland and the only reason why I kept dipping the chips in it was to add something to the already boring chips.

I didn't think the Sante Fe Chicken wrap or the chips and salsa were worth the money.  Order something else.  The portion was very small too so I was still hungry after I finished everything.

Does it say anything that we went two out of two mornings we were in Grand Rapids? Yep. Had to have seconds on the BLT Bloody Mary, that's all there was to it.

After reading some reviews I knew this was a place we had to visit to get a full meal of breakfast deliciousness before a day at the Winter Beer Fest, and I wasn't disappointed! There was quite a long wait, but we got lucky and were able to pull up a couple seats at the bar both times. The bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.

I had the BLT Bloody Mary both days - don't miss it - and get it spicy! The bloody mary mix is homemade and the spicy version has a little kick of cumin which was awesome. You get all the trimmins to make yourself an actually mini BLT sandwich to go with your bloody mary and tiny little glass of beer to top it off. So great!   I didn't have a mimosa, but saw quite a few of them leaving the bar with little sides of pancakes with strawberry sauce and whip cream - I'd recommend trying one of those too.

The food was delicious.  I had the Acapulco and the Huevo's Wet Burrito. Both were fantastic, but I can't say enough good things about the wet burrito. The sauce, the ingredients, the flavor - mmmm.

This is a great spot for brunch, don't miss it if you're staying in downtown Grand Rapids!

Yes, they offer hearty, healthy omelets or comforting and delicious pancakes in a warm, inviting atmosphere but what truly sets them apart is their AH-MA-ZING Bloody Mary's. In addition to their peppy, not-too-spicy/ not to tomato-y Bloody Mary mix, these beasts come with all the fixings for a full BLT sandwich! That's right: Lettuce, Bacon, and Tomato right in the drink. This "meal" also arrives with a shot of beer to kill your hangover, or kick start your morning depending on how you feel

In Grand Rapids for the night and this place was recommended by the concierge at the hotel for breakfast.  Our experience started with a very friendly greeter and taken to our table in under the wait time given. Our waitress was very courteous and helpful.  She recommended the huevos wet burrito. It was huge and delicious.  Also added salsa, guacamole and sour cream on the side.  My wife had the southwest veggie omelette and really enjoyed it.  It became brunch and both of us very satisfied.  An excellent Tex-Mex grill.  Everything I saw come out of the kitchen looked good and the place was packed.  We definitely will go back when in the area again.

One of the best breakfast places I have ever been to.  The interior isn't amazing, very family friendly and clean.  Service was perfect- host/hostess were fun and welcoming, waitress was knowledgable and friendly, manager was very kind and funny.   Food was delicious and unique, drinks were fabulous!  Absolutely no complaints!

Awesome food.  Try the BLT bloody mary, comes with bacon in it and a sidecar of beer.  What better way to start your day?

Also had the breakfast burrito and it was exceptional.  Will certainly go back.

Glad I took this detour with family back to Chicago.  Wonderful food.  Great service.  Felt like I was dining in instead of being rushed through a meal.  Cinnamon roll was fantastic.  Coffee was excellent.  I had a breakfast quesadilla that had perfectly scrambled eggs and flavorful ham and bacon.  We came in right after one of the bike races, and the service was always friendly and service-oriented.  There's more family in the Grand Rapids area that we will send your way.  Thank you for a wonderful meal - it was the highlight of our trip!

It's been 20 years since I've been to the Sundance Grill & Bar downtown.  It's still a great place for Southwestern style breakfast or lunch.  This visit I tried the bacon tacos, there were three tacos served on corn tortillas with eggs, bacon, cheese salsa verde, and a homemade ranch type dressing. They were extremely flavorsome, and just the perfect amount served with a small bowl of fresh fruit.

My breakfast partner taste tested the Huevos Wet Burrito, it's size was a dinner size portion, full of scrambled eggs, chorizo, hash browns and mild green chilies wrapped in a flour tortilla and topped with homemade burrito sauce and melted Colby cheese, served with fresh pico de gallo, it was a hit & he can't wait to go back for more.

Friendly and attentive service, clean & warm fun atmosphere.

I have to say that I think Sundance, for breakfast anyway, is way overrated.  I was there with my parents the other day and the food was very mediocre.  The scrambled eggs my dad had were very humdrum, dry and ordinary.  The tomato soup florentine which my mom ate was very average as well.  My breakfast had a few pet peeves.  Shouldn't toast be toasted???  A little bit of brown in the middle of a slice of bread doesn't a toasted piece of bread make.  I was surprised too that it came with only one slice, since most of my favorite breakfast places bring two.  I asked the waiter if I could have another added to my order and it took forever for it to come back.  She was slow on the refills of our drinks too.  The potatoes were good, I must admit, but over all the meal was of the quality that I will never go back.  I've had much better breakfasts over at the Coney Grill on Michigan, for a lot less money too.  The place feels pretentious to me, and I don't think I'll go back ever again.  At least for breakfast.  Breakfast out should be better than what one can make at home--this failed the test, miserably.

I hate to be a debbie-downer, but I sure hope the managers/owners read these and change things.

Walked to the Sundance from a conference for lunch.  Cute restaraunt, menu looks great.  Was disappointed with the service.  Granted it got really busy with other people from the conference, but our waitress was terrible!  Waters sat empty, a second dish to split a sandwich (originally ordered this way) was never brought out, we weren't checked on and so forth.  :0(  I get that they might not have know that it was going to be busy, but it takes little effort to be friendly!  Any requests we did get in, were curtly answered and there was no effort by our waitress to be friendly or helpful.
Food was OK.  I had the chicken tacos which were OK, but another dinner had a rebuen that was blah.

Love, love this place! Have been twice for breakfast. They've got a huge selection of tex-mex type breakfast items. The service was great, and the BLT Bloody Mary is a must! It comes with bacon, lettuce, tomato and a side of toast, mayo and a tiny beer.

One of the best breakfast joints downtown. Scramblers, omelettes, sandwiches, entrees... you can't go wrong.

When it comes to breakfast options in downtown GR, you cannot go wrong at Sundance Grill.

My wife and I visited on a Saturday morning with some friends for a late morning breakfast.  The coffee was very good, and definitely was in need of a good cup (or 5)!  We were offered to start with a cinnamon roll as an appetizer.  This was first time I had ever been asked to order a starter for breakfast, so we ended up passing.  (Note: on the way out we say the cinnamon roll, and I will not be passing next time around).  For my meal, I went with breakfast burrito.  It was absolutely delicious!  Everyone enjoyed their meal at this southwest inspired restaurant. If you like a little heat with your breakfast, this is a perfect spot for you.

The atmosphere was comfortable, and our service was great.  We were even offered to-go coffees which earned Sundance a 5th star in my book.

A great place for breakfast in G-Rap.  Walking distance from the Amway Grand, JW, and Courtyard, Sundance is a great alternative to a hotel breakfast.

On our first visit, the proprietor greeted and seated us.  He rang off the specials and had our server there in seconds flat.

I thought the prices were great considering Sundance adopts a buy local philosophy.  Sometimes that philosophy means a little extra dough out of your pocket, but not here.  Everything was homemade and delicious.

This was the first place I went to on my trip to Grand Rapids. I really enjoyed the service and the food! Its hard to find a great place for breakfast (which is what we went for) and I was excited to find more than just the plain 'ol same 'ol breakfast you could find at Denny's or iHop. I had the Granola Pancakes with a Pomegranate Mimosa (nothing like alcohol in the mornin'!) and it was delish! I would definitely recommend to anyone!

Love it! We first ate there a couple of years ago on a weekend trip to Grand Rapids. We ate breakfast there twice and were in love. Excellent service, hot coffee, yummy oj! Last summer we went back for a Baptism and left our home on the east side of the state to make it in time for breakfast at Sundance because we loved it so much! Planning a trip out in the next month or so and Sundance is on the list for breakfast. My kids love the french toast and of course the Scooby Snacks!

Great breakfast and great service. We have been coming here for years.

I usually steer towards the Morning Star Scramble.  Add cream cheese and away we go!

Sundance also has Hazelnut and regular coffee available.

The other drinks include your normal sodas, juices and a full bar.  The greyhound is quite good.

I've seen these Paul Bunyan-sized cinnamon rolls go by our table time and time again, but haven't ever attempted eating one.  I'm guessing it's a 2+ person adventure.

A GR neighborhood gem for sure.

    Great downtown breakfast joint!

A variety of flavors on the menu-- from traditional breakfast and sandwiches/soups to great southwestern flare (read: not authentic but very delicious).  Breakfast is available all day (woot!)

Our server was wonderful, super friendly, was able to make great suggestions, and attentive.

Their eggs are super fresh and delicious, and potatoes are great.  My boyfriend had the Breakfast Quesadilla and was pretty much in love with it.

Do yourself a favor head here for breakfast some time!

Traveled to GR on biz and hotel suggested Sundance for a late lunch. The food was very good and the employees were super pleasant. I like it so much, I went back the next day too! The corn chowder is excellent with a kick of spice and the chicken burrito w/ rice was enjoyable, as well. Fairly inexpensive and certainly worth a visit.

The breakfast IS better.  Definitely a better option than the other meals.  The people are super nice, too, so that's a plus, particularly if you are there and hungover.  Oh yea, they have a full bar, too, which can be nice if you are hungover.

Just OK. Food seemed pretty bland, decor nothing special. Very little chicken in my wrap and my wife's sandwich was just so-so  She said that it felt like they really rely on Gordon Food Service. Service was great, however and we love the Graham crackers for the kids and the smile fries!

This is one of my favorite places to eat in West Michigan.  I've been there dozens of times over the past decade or so and the experience is always excellent.  To clarify - this isn't a Mexican restaurant; it's a Southwest fusion restaurant and the fare leans more to the American side (some of the other reviewers seem confused).

It's primarily a great place to grab breakfast or lunch (or catch happy hour specials); on weekdays (and Sundays) it tends to close early: M-W 7:00am-2:30pm, Th-F 7:00am-9:30pm, Sat. 9:00am-9:30pm, and Sun. 9:00am-2:30pm.

Service: The staff are always helpful, fast and attentive.

Drinks: The bar doesn't have everything, but it's well-stocked with the usual domestics and imports.

Food:  While I like virtually everything on the menu that I've tried, my favorite meal to have at Sundance is breakfast.  They have a great selection of scrambles, skillets, and baked goods.  My absolute favorite breakfast item is the Acapulco scramble (it used to be called the "Navajo"); it's scrambled eggs with Chorizo, cheese, peppers, chili sauce, scallions and tomatoes served on tortillas with salsa.  I love virtually all of their appetizers, but if I had to pick my favorites I'd go with the Southwest egg rolls and the Their salads are excellent (though not always healthy) and include some selections you don't typically see at a bar/grille (like the Thai Chicken salad and Indian-inspired "Bombay Salad").  They have a fantastic selection of sandwiches; a good way to go is to get the sliders (so you get to try a burger, Manhattan Reuben, and a chicken salad sandwich).  The pulled pork sandwich is also really good.  As far as the Mexican end of their menu, you can't go wrong with the burritos or the cilantro chicken enchiladas.

Atmosphere: Overall it's a very cozy place; the front area features an L-shaped bar surrounded with tables and booths.  In the back, there are more tables and a banquet area - all of which have a comfortable, personal feel.  The whole place is layed out well so that it never gets too loud; you can actually carry on a conversation with your party (which isn't always the case at a lot of the trendier restaurants in Grand Rapids, many of which favor high ceilings, exposed brick, and wood floors).

Meh...thats about it. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad. The menu was huge and probably trying to be too many things at the same time. I had some chicken tacos, margaritas & guacamole. All decent. Prices were fair. Service was iffy. This is an okay option if you are out of other options, but I wouldn't pick it over some of the MANY other restaurants within a few blocks.

Interesting menu and a very cute place. I was surprised at how busy the place was. Prices were okay....our server was super quick. I guess she was nice, but she had a little attitude.
Breakfast all day, which makes me want to give them five stars. I got the blueberry pancakes. They weren't incredible, but certainly tasty. Good fresh orange juice, too.

Had a wonderful lunch and overate, because thats what I do.  Can't believe I haven't stopped in before.  It was pretty busy with the lunch crowd, but I was seated right away.  From the window it looks like a smaller place, but it goes back into the building and is bigger than it looks.

The menu is pretty extensive - I had a difficult time making a decision - thus the over eating.  I had a cup of the corn chowder - which was tasty, but not smart on my part - thick and creamy and heavy for the hot summer weather, imho.  I also had the grilled mahi tacos which I will definitely get again.  I'll be back for sure, and probably after work too to try out the bar.  Good alternative to the usual downtown grub!
