I wish there was an option to give ZERO stars.
It's hard to believe this place ISN'T RACIST when me and my cousin, who were the only non-caucasians in the restaurant were pretty much ignored most of the time we were there. We had to wait forever just to have our order taken and the place wasn't even busy. After receiving our breakfast, which my 13 year old niece could have made better... the only person who visited our table was the bus boy who didn't speak. The snotty waitress didn't even bother coming by our table. It was as if we were invisible. My overall experience was just plain ol' craptastic and I would NEVER return. The existence of this place actually angers me.
I hate to give this such a low rating because I've been wanting to eat here for a while, but the service was unacceptly slow. Like, off-the-charts bad. My husband and I came here for lunch on a Saturday. I ordered a vegetable panini and he ordered a wrap. We waited about 40 minutes for the food to come out. And the restaurant wasn't even full!! It also took forever to get a refill on our drinks and to get the check. I enjoyed my grilled veggies, but the bread it was on was like a supermarket hamburger bun and the fries were out of a bag. Very disappointing...
Review Source:Very cute, cozy place! There's plenty of room to leave your child in the stroller if you need to (if it's not busy)which is a major plus. I went there for brunch with my sister and 18 month old daughter. The service was great, when the waitress brought us the menus,I asked for toast and jam for the baby right away, she brought the toast in 5 minutes and we avoided  a major hungry baby tantrum and we were able to have a pleasant meal. My sister ordered the Irish breakfast and she thought it was very good.  I had the southern hospitality wrap (roast beef, cheese and bacon) it came with fries- it was also very good, my baby thought the toast and jam was excellent :) The waitress was very attentive and got us the check right away when we asked for it.  We really enjoyed this place and will definitely be coming back.
Review Source:Just threw my sister a mad hatter themed bridal shower and I could not be more pleased with the service and food. I have to say this was the best experience I have ever had throwing a party. The owner is wonderful very attentive and such a sweetheart. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to throw an amazing bridal shower.. The sombrero panini was to die for. The other fan favorite was the Ruben!! To top this amazing experience off was delicious pastries.. I will defiantly come back here again for another party!!
Review Source:Have been here two times and im sorry to say I will not return. Â First time we came we arrived for lunch, food was okay but service was a little slow and it was not busy at all but I liked the feel of it inside has this cozy west village feel to it. Â Returned a few weeks later and it was A bit more busy but only about 15 guests total. Â We seated ourselves, ten minutes later the menus were placed on our table about 10 minutes after that our drink order and lunch order was taken together. Â 25 minutes later our food arives before our 2 drinks or water arrived... the waitress, as she brought our meals to the table said I will be right back with your drinks By the time the drinks came we were half way through our food and 45 minutes in the restaurant. No ketchup was ever given for our french fries and salt and pepper shakers were not on the table. I did not even bother asking after seeing the way things were going. Â May have been the worst service I Have ever Experienced.
Review Source:This is such a cute little spot! I never would've known about it if not for Yelp. I went for breakfast which was good. I had a greek omelette and enjoyed the Irish soda bread that came with it. The people were very nice and the atmosphere was very cozy. I definitely plan to go back for lunch. Looking forward to trying the Potato Leek soup.
Review Source:Have been here multiple times for tea and lunch with friends and even my Nana! Salads and sandwiches are delicious, made with fresh ingredients and really out of this world homemade dressings. Sweet potato fries are thin and crispy just the way God intended. Tea for two comes with sodabread and brown bread which are great and seriously irresistible. Tables and chairs are all from someone's home and mismatched which adds a certain homey- comfy charm.
Review Source:In a nutshell, Swing the Teapot is really all about its adorable atmosphere and average food.  It's a cute, cozy cafe; similar to a little Irish cottage with an array of sandwiches, wraps, and breakfast options.  Great place to catch up with some friends over brunch but I felt the food wasn't  memorable -- admittedly I only ate one of their many options.  My panini's chicken was a too dry but my friend really enjoyed her grilled eggplant.  The tables are also abnormally large -- we felt like we sitting 4 feet away from each other.
Overall, it's an adorable place that makes you feel nice and snug in this blistering cold weather with a decent menu -- it's just unlikely you'll be blown away.
Really adorable gem! Just like everyone said. I only found this place due to yelp! Great service even the restaurant was full! Cutest decor ever. So unique! Our table was a seeing machine with. Granite top! It's a hodgepodge of furniture! Food good and tea delish served in the cutest teapots!
Review Source:An irish twist on a tea place, I approve! Â I just wish ti could sit at that front table, which is used to display the cool factor of this place. Â The food is good and so is the tea. Â I love the original tea bagging machine (sorry can't remember the name of it and didn't mean to make it sound dirty). This place needs a better scone selection though - can I bake for them and sell them my products - ti would totally boost business up.
Review Source:This place is a nice little Irish Cafe. Good for breakfast and lunch. At night there are some live bands that play. You can go to there website to see their band schedule.
Food is mediocre. Nothing special. I usually get the Corned Beef Hash. Good portion and I order it with sunnyside up eggs. Coffee is average here. Fish and chips are pretty good here. That's what I recommend for lunch. They also serve here. From the top of my head they serve Pork Slap on tap.
What pushes this place from a 3 star to a 5 star is the inside decor. Brick walled interior with some beautiful painting. Also front tables are vintage sewing machine tables that have glass laid on top and turned into dining tables. Also, teapots are very beautiful along with their cups.
Service is slightly below average. Plenty of times I've had trouble getting the waitresses attention and would take a while for me to pay the bill. They are not very attentive after your initial order.
In conclusion, average food. But, if you want to fancy yourself with a classy interior, this is the place.
yelp helped me find this place and from what i researched, it was a cute little irish cafe. what made me really interested was that it was filled with cute mismatched furniture, and the title itself references teapots (and i like tea). when my friends and i got there, it lived up to it's name. the cute furniture, the assortment of teas, good brunch food, and friendly staff.
i've only tried a few dishes: an omelette dish i can't remember, a southwestern burger, and a mayflower panini. my favorite out of the three was the mayflower panini simply because it was a typical thanksgiving sandwich with turkey, swiss, stuffing, and cranberry sauce.
my only complaints were that the food was a bit on the dry side for my taste, but nothing a little extra ketchup/sauce can't fix, and second, the service is a little slow. there are only 1 or 2 servers there. i've been there 3 times and 1 out of the 3 times it got really busy.
overall, i'd say it's a good place to dine at. the wait isn't too bad if you're chilling with friends and sipping tea.
We shared nacho con crane Appetizer and then had a Grilled chicken sandwich.
Portions are huge and will easily feed two. Quality is mediocre--your average bar food. Â The service was pleasant but the wait was long even though the place was practically empty. All in all not very interesting. I won't be coming back here for food.
We have had lunch here a few times and love this place for a combination of reasons:  First, the food is wonderful: We had fish and chips, and having lived in Boston for many years, I always had the freshest of fish, right off the dock, and  I can attest to the freshness of their fish here, so flaky, but also, equally important, how it was made: The batter was light and flavorful and the fish was not overcooked.  We three had it and all loved it.  The chips  they are hand cut and lightly  fried chips and perfection.  The sandwiches are great and the waitresses have always been extremely good communicators and courteous.  We were in a hurry for fish and chips, had to go to an appointment, and were served very quickly.  The ambiance and decor is charming, sort of a combo of Irish pub and your Victorian great grandmother's place.  Not expensive, either! Top notch, as far as we are concerned.  It is also a place of genuine Irish ambiance, some of the waitresses we have had in the past being from Ireland.  Lovely place!
Review Source:Hunger struck me last Sunday afternoon while out and about. I used my trusty Yelp app to find what was nearby, and thought I'd give Swing the Teapot a try.
First impression when I walked in: We've arrived at a true "tea party." First table on my left was occupied by a grandmother and her grandson (what do you know?), drinking tea out of a teapot. The rest of the tables were filled with families and large groups of women of all ages (in their 20's to 70's), looking like they were having their girls-Sunday-brunch-outing. I felt a little out of place, showing up with just me and my husband. But, the place seemed cozy enough.
Menu: large selection of yummy-sounding wraps, sandwiches, burgers, and omelettes. This menu is definitely not for those who crave tons of sweet brunch options. The only sweet dishes on their 6-page menu were pancakes, french toast, and yogurt. This is fair enough, considering that an Irish restaurant/bar is just not going to emphasize traditional sweet brunch items.
Food: I ordered the corned beef hash dish that comes with 2 eggs, any style, and bread on the side. Pretty good, hit the spot nicely. My husband ordered the cajun burger, with jalapenos, cheddar cheese, chipotle mayo, pico de gallo, and substituted the regular fries for an order of sweet potato fries ($1.50 extra). Burger was good also. Fries were a bit crispy and over-cooked.
Service: Friendly. We were seated quickly, without any reservations. However, this place loses one star for how SLOW the service was. We finally ended up asking how much longer our order would be, and were told it was coming up, but for us to keep in mind that all of their burgers are made fresh-to-order. Honey, unless that cow is being slaughtered in the back, an 8-oz burger with a couple toppings does NOT take that long.
Nonetheless, I would come back again if in the area and hunger struck.
This place is SO cute. It really is a hidden gem! I came here randomly for take out, and we ended up at the bar drinking tea. Anyway, the waitress was very friendly, and our food was delicious. We had the corned beef, soda bread, grilled chicken panini, and a hamburger. They could add a couple dashes of salt to their dishes, but its better to under salt than over salt. Definitely would return!
Review Source:I loved this place! Â I felt like a grown up at a tea party with food!
I enjoyed the experience of eating off of cute, eclectic plates. Â I love their display of different tea pots. Â
The here is yummy and you can get some good beer too!
The hamburger sliders and the pasta are musts!
I hear that the brunch here is also pretty good.
Swing the Teapot is a treasure in Floral Park, that does not get cited often enough. Â I have never been in there and been disappointed by the food or service, but....
Man, why do people just HAVE to bring their screaming kids in their on Sunday? Â Can't they leave them in the car? Â I know I wouldn't mind. Â The closeness of the tables only magnifies this facet of Sunday's at Swing the Teapot.
That being said, their breakfast cannot be beat for quality and price.
This restaurant is very comfortable to dine in. The menu offers a variety of breakfast, sandwiches, and panini varieties. The waitresses are friendly and walks around with smiles. The place is decorated with teapots by the bar area and there are teapot related pictures in the women's restroom. The cover of the menu explains how the name of the restaurant came about. The furniture is woodsy with odd unmatched chairs at the tables. I love it. It gave me such a warm feeling.
