Tacos El Durango Mexican Grill

We have found our new favorite Mexican restaurant! The place is super clean and the young woman at the counter was so sweet.

Now the food: We ordered chicken, steak and ground beef tacos (added cheese & avocado to each for an additional .50 per taco) as well as a homemade tamale all to go. The food was delicious with excellent flavor and just the right amount of heat. We were stuffed, but didn't want to stop eating.

They have been there for 10 months; their prices are very reasonable and even though we rarely eat in at restaurants, this is one I would like to try. I know there are so many Mexican places around, but if you haven't tried this one I would highly recommend it. We will be back....maybe tomorrow since she mentioned a breakfast burrito special between 9-11am. Yum.

My husband and I are also from Southern California, and I have to disagree with the previous CA poster who gave this place 1 star. First of all, we came here because it was conveniently located near our doctor's office. It was easy to find, park and the place was immaculate inside. The waitress was the most friendly I've experienced since moving to Chicago 8 months ago. We ordered tacos (chicken, carne, and stuffed pepper). Chips and salsa were great (albeit lacking some heat) and the food was fresh and delicious. For us, it was pretty darn close to the real thing we are used to but without so much grease, which was great! If we have to venture to Gurnee again for anything we will definitely eat here again. (PS I would've given 5 stars if they offered margaritas and churros :))

My wife and I go here all the time. The service is outstanding and the food is great! They have the best guacamole, chips, salsa and mole sauce in Lake County!  It's a great neighborhood place for good food every day served by very nice people (it's family owned and run). As much as I'd like to keep this all to myself, please try it and let me know what you think of that mole sauce.
