Twice in a week, to see if the 2nd visit was as good as the first . . .
had countless errands to run today &  I thought the menu above my visor  was very subliminal.
Ordered the  #8 King Pao Chicken  w/fried rice & egg roll.
The  Kung Pao was  a very large order & plenty of rice, and it was good, also egg rolls  everywhere are pretty pedestrian. here they  seem to be home made & served Very Hot! , as I needed to cut it in half & let it cool.
Today they also had streamers hanging inside , declaring Takee Outee as  #8 of the top 100 chinese restaurants
[ maybe you yelp sleuths & detectives will snoop around & find out what listing ]
I want to mention this  not to compare, but to share, the best Kung Pao anywhere is the China King at 13 & Groesbeck
Running out of options for great Chinese cuisine in our area, my sister and I opted to use the buy-one-get-one fifty percent off coupon at Takee Outee.
The server was friendly, but instead of asking what we wanted with our entree, she said, "Fried rice...okay?" and "Egg roll...okay?" There was supposed to be an option of egg roll, spring roll or crab rangoon.
I ordered the spring roll, wonton soup and the pepper steak, while my sister ordered the egg roll, egg drop soup. and shrimp chow mein.
While waiting for our meals, we were served the crispy wonton stips with plum sauce, in  which we dipped (not double dipped) our strips. We found out later that that dip was supposed to also serve as the sauce for our egg/spring rolls. I wish they would have given us the heads up or provided extra sauce. After sharing one bowl of dip, the idea of using it on our rolls didn't seem to sanitary. Thank God it was just my sister and I. I opted to used the hot mustard sauce, which I requested.
The soup was pretty good, albeit luekwarm and the rolls were a bit too crunchy. My sister said the chow mein noodles were actually spaghetti noodles, and my pepper steak was too salty. Yuck! The sauce tasted like cheap beef bouillon cubes. However, the meat was tender and the vegetables were perfectly cooked.
Oh, the hot tea and fortune cookies were also very tasty, and so were the take-home almond cookies.
We would like to give it one more try, but order something different. If that doesn't work out, we may have to go to the tried and true, albeit a bit more expensive Kwong Tung Chop Suey.
I really, really wanted to like this place. Prices are comparable to your average strip mall Chinese place and they deliver to your door. After having gotten dinner here for my family at least a dozen times since they opened, I'm finally having to throw in the towel.
Their food, at least delivery, is often under cooked. The almond boneless chicken has arrived to my home pink before with literally uncooked breading, the fried pork dumplings have had raw bits in the center. These are things I have complained to them about (and received comped food for) but that they have not changed. It's no longer a matter of the fact that they use so much breading, so much salt, so much grease in the box, etc. It's turned into an actual health hazard for me to give their food to my family.
The one thing I am sure I will still order, as it is the one consistently good dish, is the lo mein (hence 2 stars instead of 1). I've never dined in so I don't know if they rush to get their delivery orders out but repeatedly sending out raw food is unacceptable. If you look through other Yelp reviews, you will see I am not the only one to mention their uncooked chicken either. This is definitely a "dine at your own risk" restaurant.
