Seemingly average neighborhood sports bar. Waitress had no clue what beer or drink specials were. Food was standard bar fare, only they clearly rely exclusively on frozen ingredients. Wings were below average and lacked flavor. The boneless wings slathered in the sweet chili sauce were tolerable. Sliders again lacked flavor and any additional toppings above cheese and a pickle. The French fries that accompanied the sliders were the only well-seasoned item, though they were far from fresh. I'd go back to watch a game, but that's about it.

Fairly decent food. I've been here a couple of times now. Service is always very good and fast.  There are a lot of TVs if you want to catch a game.

Wow I'm surprised how negative some of the reviews are! It is a bar and grill, with bar and grill food. We've been a few times because we live so close and had good service, hot food that tasted fine, and not paid a ton. Nothing to write home about, but just fine for a local watering hole.

    Average. Nothing special.

OK, so tanners food is tanners food, although I am partial to the chicken lips.  BUT my issue with them, and in particular this location, is the complete lack of interest of their serving staff to, in fact, serve.  It seems that they detest physical labor and feel that when you walk in, you should seat yourself, and them wait for one of them to extract their head out of their ass long enough to get you a menu and perchance a fucking coke.  I went here last week and the server just left in the middle of her shift after taking awhile to get drinks (sodas, not mixed) and then today it was a battle royale for them to NOTICE I was there and draw straws to see had to wait on us 2, and then bring us menus, after they all turned around and looked at us from afar, and discussed who HAD to take the table at noon on a Thursday.  They werent busy, there were at least 4 servers, and they dont want tips, apparently. I was a waitress back in the day, so Im not some elitist.  But they call it a JOB for a reason.

This is a bar before it is a grill!  Nothing spectacular, the service is bland and the drinks are fair priced.  I can say they are always busy with construction workers throughout the day and they tempt families at the dinner hour but I would never take my kids there, the yocals can't behave themselves.  The wife and I get there from time to time for drinks since it is in the neighborhood but twice now some douchebag hillbilly has tried to move in on our table when I go to the restroom.  On this visit, they had a band with two dudes doing their best to look like Jason Aldean and doing their best to not suck - they failed!  Not much for selection in West Shawnee, we go here when we are tired of the other two bars out here.

Well we've since returned to this location for a Friday night dinner and they seem to have redeemed themselves. The food we've had so far has been good (except for that one time we couldn't get any) and I've become quite the fan of those loaded fries. The part of me that tries to eat healthy doesn't want to know any part of what they're loaded with!

Because of that one supremely bad experience, I don't walk out lightly, the best I can do is 3 stars. Had that never happened, you'd be looking at a solid 4.

We had one of the worst experiences on a Thursday nite! A group of 3 couples came in and basically took over part of where my family was sitting, waiting for our dinner. They were loud and obnoxious and started yelling and cussing. We moved tables to eat, but were still in the back room. The noise from the Pop a shot was noisy, but the group was awful. We complained to the management, but the only thing they seemed to do was comp our dinner.

Went for lunch with the wife. She had a chicken sandwich I had "Lot-O-Nachos". It was around $18 with tea and water. The nachos seemed really bland to me, ok but not worth $8 for. We go here every once in a while, and I think we need to decrease the occurrences...

It doesn't surprise me that the reviews for this Tanner's range from 2 to 4 stars. It's a favorite hangout for some of our friends, so we end up here more frequently than I would like.

For the most part, I think the food is ok, especially if you are craving a burger or chicken strips. There's usually a pretty decent drink special too. The staff is somewhat inconsistent, but most of the servers do well enough.

If you are looking for decent food and a TV to watch a big game, this is a pretty good location. It's especially good for KU fans who enjoy nachos. You can't go wrong with Jayhawks or the nachos.

I am a fan of Tanner's all around, because, let's face it, they are a KU bar.  Enough said...  well not really.

I chose this particular location for my going away party.  It was packed when everyone got there around 8:30 on a Saturday night.  There were no spots for anyone, so I was a little frightened that my party would be ruined.  However, the server said she would clean up some tables in the back room right away.  She even did it herself, which I find absolutely amazing.  We got our table for around twenty people in about 15 minutes.  The server we had was awesome, she wasn't one of those frazzled snotty types either.  Every couple minutes, there she was, alert and ready to serve us more and more alcohol, as much as we could afford I guess.

Anyway, the party was great, the server was great, and I ordered food which was bar food.  But it's a bar.  They serve bar food at bars.  Hello.

I went to Tanner's last night and let me tell you, they won't care if this review is bad because they were packed.

The typical Tanner's customer will not care if the food is mediocre and the waitstaff is slow.  As long as there is a big enough place with lots of tvs and beers, then they will come.  It seems like Tanners is the local hangout spot for single, middle age people to come watch a game, hang out with buddies, or try and meet someone.  There's nothing wrong with that at all.  With that being said, as far as hangout spots go, I prefer ones with good food.

I'd have to say that Tanner's is about average out here in western Shawnee.  The service can be a bit slow and the food isn't bad, but it's nothing stellar either.

The waitresses we've had the last couple times have been mostly inattentive, drinks slow to refill and food taking a wee bit longer than it should for a place that is usually not packed unless there is a K-State or KU game going on.  I've had to ask for the bill the last two times.

The food is generally ok, the onion "rings" in the menu are onion "strings."  Boogas (burgers) are good, the crinkle fries about what you'd expect from a bag of Ore-Ida.

I'd say that if you're looking for a great place to see a local game (or football on Sunday) and get your drink on, it's a decent place to hang out, but I wouldn't come for just the food alone.

I am a little discouraged to see not much improvement since Samantha's review over a year ago.

I'll hand it to Tanner's - when they build a new one, people come.  When their Shawnee location opened in spring '08, local residents eagerly formed long lines and filled the parking lot. Now, just a few months later, you never have to wait more than a minute or two for a table.

I'd guess it's the wait staff that's put a damper on Tanner's business. I've had service ranging from mediocre to downright bad, and even though they should have the just-opened bugs out, the waitresses aren't getting any better. It's not rocket science to bring appetizers out before dinner, or to remember more than one request at a time from your table. Maybe that's why there are so many TVs - at least you have something to watch while you wait.

Some of Tanner's hostesses need additional training too, because one of them seated my high-school age daughter and her friend for dinner, even though nobody under 21 is allowed to enter without a parent after 5 p.m. It's not that big of a deal to have evening age restrictions, but it's nice to let your customers know before they sit down.

With four locations each on both sides of State Line and restaurant number nine in Omaha, Tanner's seems to be going strong. But if another bar and grill with average food and better-than-average service opens nearby, they'll give the Shawnee location a run for its money.
