I tried Tap House after seeing it on Groupon. After standing up front for 5 minutes while waitresses walked by and looked at me and my girlfriend, we decided to seat ourselves. Queue 10 more minutes of waitresses looking at us, but not coming by to even take a drink order. Finally, after 2 waitresses pointed at our table, one of them came up and took our order.
The groupon included 2 entrees and 1 appetizer. My girlfriend and I each ordered burgers and we got bruschetta as the appetizer. The logical assumption - bring out the appetizer while the entrees are being prepared. Not here. The food was all served together. I will say though, any annoyance I had with the food being served together was quelled when I tried the bruschetta - it was delicious. Here's where we took a turn. I cut into my bleu cheese burger and the center was very very rare. I have a reservation about sending food back, so I just bit the bullet and ate it. My girlfriend, however, wasn't so lucky. She cut into hers and it was PURPLE. It was as if it was thrown on the grill for a grand total of 1 minute. You could practically still hear it mooing. Absolutely disgusting and unsettling at a professional restaurant. My girlfriend politely called the waitress over, who, upon seeing the abomination, made a grossed out face and agreed to take it back.
Later, the waitress brought the burger back sans apology. It was as if this sort of thing happens regularly, which is unsettling to say the least. My girlfriend examined the burger and found that they used the same burger - they had reattached it where it had been cut, instead of using a new patty. Previously, the cheese was served melted and looked delicious. The new burger had a hard piece of unmelted cheese.
To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. As unpleasant as it is, I can deal with poor service if the food overcomes this deficit, but when you add poor service with a side of under-cooked food and top it off with zero apology for the food, you get a bad review on Yelp and terrible word of mouth. I would never recommend this establishment and would only go again if I brought an enemy for dinner, in hopes that he would get food poisoning from the meal.
Found this place by accident on a Saturday afternoon and went in for a late lunch with some friends. Â Right away I noticed the "Lobster Fun Zone" tank in the waiting area. Â That should've been enough of a reason for me to turn and walk right back out, but I didn't want to inconvenience my friends. Â I realize people are going to eat lobster whether they catch them this way or not, but REALLY? Â Games are supposed to involve skill, fun, and prizes, not suffering. Â This tank represents suffering to the lobster, and to see a group of children standing around the tank waving their dollar bills and excitedly hoping to trap one of these helpless creatures with that big metal claw is just disturbing to me. Â It is sick "fun".
Other than that, I have no complaints, but I certainly won't ever go back, nor would I recommend it to anyone.
One BIG positive was the live entertainment. Â Two guys who call themselves "Monkey Finger Duo". Â Fantastic! Â Two acoustic guitars and two excellent singing voices. Â We got their info and we are now followers. Â Luckily, they play at lots of places other than the Tap House!
I was so scared to try this place after reading all the reviews, but in have to say it was a good experience.
First our server Chelsey and her trainee were amazing!! Service was great.
We went for brunch and let me say the selection was great, except they put sausage in the potatoes and to me it was a bad idea.
Overall it was a great experience!!
