I tried Tap House after seeing it on Groupon. After standing up front for 5 minutes while waitresses walked by and looked at me and my girlfriend, we decided to seat ourselves. Queue 10 more minutes of waitresses looking at us, but not coming by to even take a drink order. Finally, after 2 waitresses pointed at our table, one of them came up and took our order.
The groupon included 2 entrees and 1 appetizer. My girlfriend and I each ordered burgers and we got bruschetta as the appetizer. The logical assumption - bring out the appetizer while the entrees are being prepared. Not here. The food was all served together. I will say though, any annoyance I had with the food being served together was quelled when I tried the bruschetta - it was delicious. Here's where we took a turn. I cut into my bleu cheese burger and the center was very very rare. I have a reservation about sending food back, so I just bit the bullet and ate it. My girlfriend, however, wasn't so lucky. She cut into hers and it was PURPLE. It was as if it was thrown on the grill for a grand total of 1 minute. You could practically still hear it mooing. Absolutely disgusting and unsettling at a professional restaurant. My girlfriend politely called the waitress over, who, upon seeing the abomination, made a grossed out face and agreed to take it back.
Later, the waitress brought the burger back sans apology. It was as if this sort of thing happens regularly, which is unsettling to say the least. My girlfriend examined the burger and found that they used the same burger - they had reattached it where it had been cut, instead of using a new patty. Previously, the cheese was served melted and looked delicious. The new burger had a hard piece of unmelted cheese.
To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. As unpleasant as it is, I can deal with poor service if the food overcomes this deficit, but when you add poor service with a side of under-cooked food and top it off with zero apology for the food, you get a bad review on Yelp and terrible word of mouth. I would never recommend this establishment and would only go again if I brought an enemy for dinner, in hopes that he would get food poisoning from the meal.
Found this place by accident on a Saturday afternoon and went in for a late lunch with some friends. Â Right away I noticed the "Lobster Fun Zone" tank in the waiting area. Â That should've been enough of a reason for me to turn and walk right back out, but I didn't want to inconvenience my friends. Â I realize people are going to eat lobster whether they catch them this way or not, but REALLY? Â Games are supposed to involve skill, fun, and prizes, not suffering. Â This tank represents suffering to the lobster, and to see a group of children standing around the tank waving their dollar bills and excitedly hoping to trap one of these helpless creatures with that big metal claw is just disturbing to me. Â It is sick "fun".
Other than that, I have no complaints, but I certainly won't ever go back, nor would I recommend it to anyone.
One BIG positive was the live entertainment. Â Two guys who call themselves "Monkey Finger Duo". Â Fantastic! Â Two acoustic guitars and two excellent singing voices. Â We got their info and we are now followers. Â Luckily, they play at lots of places other than the Tap House!
I was so scared to try this place after reading all the reviews, but in have to say it was a good experience.
First our server Chelsey and her trainee were amazing!! Service was great.
We went for brunch and let me say the selection was great, except they put sausage in the potatoes and to me it was a bad idea.
Overall it was a great experience!!
The food quality and service were very good. They also had a good beer selection. The only reason I didn't rate 5 stars.. The hostess  kept us standing at the front for several minutes waiting while she finished a conversation with her co-workers that could have waited. Also because the food  menu available is much smaller than what is posted on their website.I will go back again.
Review Source:Went on a Tuesday night for their free comedy show. Â Wasn't sure what to expect but most of the guys were pretty good! Â
I ordered an avocado something sandwich and hubby had some tacos. Â They have $2 tacos on this night. Â Fries were awesome, just like the waitress said they would be. Â Wrong taco order was brought to my husband initially with 2 tacos instead of the 3 that he ordered. Â He was waiting for that last taco, but then they brought him another plate with 3 tacos. Â He was only charged for the 3 he initially ordered. Â
Service and food was good. Waiters/waitresses were friendly. Â We both enjoyed it and hope to go again soon.
So I ventured over to HB and the Tap House to redeem a Groupon with my BFF. Â As I sat in the passenger seat I crossed my fingers, eyes, leg and really anything else in hopes this place wasn't another HB bar filled with Bro's. Â To my surprise it was a random mix of people. Â Almost like it was a notch up from the clientele at Norms. Â Don't get me wrong. Â I will go to Norms in a heartbeat if I was up for a Tbone steak and egg meal or it's 2am. Â I'm just comparing the clientele here. The first thing our waitress asked was if we were redeeming a Groupon for the brunch so it seems to be a hot seller right now and she didn't seem too pleased when asking. Â Almost as if she was expecting a poor tip. Â The food was actually pretty good and the prime rib was tasty. Â I think our food may have been delivered to the wrong table and we were given their food but it's all good...I was there to binge anyways. Â :) Â Our waitress ended up being on point by making sure we had everything we needed and made sure our Mimosas were never empty. Â At one point we were double fisting the mimosas and we both had a big grin on our face.
At your table you can order bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes, french toast, and breakfast potatoes on top of the omelet station and prime rib they serve to order. Â There's also fruit and yogurt and some dessert goodies to eat at the end.
Bottom line is I would go again but only with the Groupon deal.
If I were to have wrote a review within minutes it would have been one star. We went on a Sunday and wanted beer and bar food. There is a buffet until 2 and they only served breakfast if you didn't want the buffet. I already ate breakfast and I didn't want to pay 16 bucks for picked over shrimp and macaroni salad. We decided to have a few beers, go mini golf across the street and come back for the appetizers I was craving. We sat down at the bar and our luck changed. We had an awesome bartender who was a competition body builder, had beers, got our tab and beers all day were 3.00!! WOOHOO! So we beered it up, I lost at mini golf and we came back. Ordered steak nachos, calamari, buffalo wings and more beer. Bill was 18.00 - appetizers were half off too! There was a chill band playing too. All in all it was a great date lunch. I would come back again for sure. I just hope the rest of the staff is as cool as our chick was =)
Review Source:My husband and I went to the Tap House this pass Sunday afternoon for an early dinner after golf, we had a Groupon so we were excited to try this place.
When we arrived there was nobody at the front desk so we walked around and tried to figure out if it was a sit yourself place or not, finally someone came out of the back and walked up to the front desk and we went back and asked to me seated.
We got our menus and was told a waitress would be right over, didn't take long for the waitress to come over and explain to us what we got with the Groupon and we ordered, that is when the waiting began..not sure why it took so long to pour two draft beers when the place wasn't busy but we must have waited at least 10 minutes for them.
We got the beers and a while later our Spinach/Artichoke dip came out..now the waitress did say it was hot but it was so hot it was hard to eat and my husband burnt his finger on the plate, the dip itself was ok more spinach taste than artichoke, I have had better.
One thing I hate is having my food come out while I still eating the appetizer and that is what happen our burgers come out faster than anything else! We both ordered our burgers Medium, my husbands was perfect but mine was raw, when I cut into blood came out of the burger, I hate sending food back but this I had too..once they recooked the burger it was great very tasty! and their beer-battered fries are awesome.
Once we were done it took a while to get the check, would were go back? Â Not sure there are too many places where you can get a good burger so I guess it would depend on our mood and time frame..you can't go in there for a quick bite to eat when the service is so slow. One thing I did notuce was that there seemed to be a lot of staff just hanging out in the back area by the kitchen not really doing anything so I am not sure why the service was so slow when there seemed to be plenty of staff on duty.
Went here for the first time on a Friday night around 8pm. We were seated right away which was great. The selection of beer, wine, cocktails was great. I can't imagine anyone not being able to find something they liked off that menu. We ordered onion rings for our appetizer and I had the pulled pork tacos appetizer for my meal which was a ton of food, and more than enough.
When our meals arrived and our onion rings hadn't yet, all I said was "Where are our onion rings?" and the waiter apologized profusely and went to check on them. He came back and said they'd been prepared wrong so they had to remake them and he took them off our bill. We never complained at all about it, he just did it on his own, so I was impressed with the level of customer service. I've had that happen before in restaurants where they bring the appetizer at the same time as the meal or after, and they act like it's not big deal. We appreciated it.
The onion rings were pretty fantastic. Instead of the crunchy coating you get almost everywhere, these are dipped in batter and they serve them with a chipotle sauce. I would order them again in a heartbeat.
The menu isn't extensive but there was enough variety that most people would be happy I think.
The atmosphere is a little loud-- to be expected because it's actually a sports bar, but we could hear ourselves talk and the noise level wasn't distracting.
Parking-- there's a non-valet lot with free parking adjacent to the building.
Overall, I'm a fan of this place and would go back again.
Went in with a groupon. Nacho's with the in-house cheese sauce for a starter were great. Excellent beer selection. Our waitress was very friendly and our beers were never empty for long.
Had the BBQ bacon cheese burger which was amazing. Only disappointment was they were out of beer battered fries.
Didn't get a chance to try out the iPourIt system, but it looked really interesting.
Will be going back for the brunch during football season.
Came here on a Groupon deal. The service was great. Â The appetizers that we ordered were not. The chicken wings and the chicken on our nachos were both a it dry. Â On the other hand, the burgers that we ordered was very tasty. Â bleu cheese burger and wild mushroom swiss burger. Â both with beer battered fries. Â These I recommend. Â Hopefully the other appetizers are better. I won't be ordering the same appetizers, but will give the others a try. Â The table next to us ordered salads which looked pretty tasty. Â I might try one the next time. We were there on a Friday night and they had live performers there. Â The first band rocked it and the second one was ok. Â Will be back when football season starts. Plenty of TVs throughout the place to watch a game. Â The little patio area is cool too. Â Nice spot to chill at on warm summer nights.
Review Source:I was really not very impressed with this place. Â I don't know how a reputable restaurant/bar can be out of so many items all the time. Â Beer battered fries? Â NOPE! Â And my family, who lives by there and frequents more often, said they were out a couple of the last times they were there as well. Â Kid's pizza?? Â NOPE! Â Another that was out previously. Â Kid's chicken nuggets?? Â NOPE! Â And that's just the food...they were out of some beers as well.
Having said that...the service was really good. Â The servers are great. Â Ours was so patient with the kids and another server came over to talk because she recognized the kids from previous trips there.
The food was pretty good too. Â I had the Bacon Bleu Cheese Burger. Â (not sure if that is the actual name). Â It was big and really tasty. Â Everybody seemed to like their food. Â I did order a taco that never came, but after eating the burger I didn't need it anyway.
So....my rating is based on all the items missing. Â The menu is pretty small. Â There is no excuse being out of things that often. Â
Probably won't go back unless there is some event that a friend/family member invites me to.
Great beer selection. Our server, Christina Rye, was great. Very attentive and always around for the next round of beers. I had the wings. Nice and meaty. Spice wasn't scalding. Ton of TV's to watch several games at the same time. Great for the playoffs. Will definitely go back next time I'm in town.
Review Source:June 2013 - Using my final coupon. Again, only customers present on a Sat before 12:30 pm. Service was great from the waitress, not great from the kitchen. Long wait. Beef dip was way over seasoned. Fish/Chips was fine, tartar sauce was nice. Fries still good. Beer nice and cold. Folks were very nice and they did their best. I saw a new manager, yay.
May 2013: The last attempt was a true 3-star experience. (Good, for TH) Food, 3-5 stars. Pineapple slice contained core. French dip was amazingly tasty, as were the beer battered fries. Saturday lunch, we were the only customers present from 11-12:15. Service was still slow and lacking. Had to ask for something 3 times. Beer selection was good. Oh, and their doors were locked at 10:58, don't trust the 9AM yelp hours or the fact they claim to serve breakfast until 11am on Sat on their own website. Management continues to be the weakest factor.
Old Update: Just ruined date night when turned away due to UFC. They need a non-bros section.
This is posted late: went a couple weeks after opening. Management needs work. Lots of servers, but no service. Waited a long time for our waiter, then we had two. Grilled artichoke was not completely edible...raw in places. Sent it back. BBQ chicken pizza was nice, overly cheesy for my tastes. No beer menu upon seating, waiter had to steal a menu from another customer, terrible. Managers running around, not very useful. Most staff was chatting with specific tables. Our lights went out for half the meal, claimed they couldn't find the switch. Just avoid this place for a few months. I hope they iron things out.
Came here for Sunday Brunch this past weekend. My family LOVES brunch and had heard that the offering at Tap House was pretty legit so we decided to purchase the Groupon ($75 brunch for 4) and come in. The service was excellent (5 stars), our server told us her name but she said there were a lot of other girls there with the same name so think of her last name which was something associated with Rye bread..perhaps the name was Rye? ANYWAY-sorry I can't remember, but she was excellent. The champagne glasses were only briefly empty but in her defense we are pretty heavy drinkers. She came back to clear plates often and was refilling beverages as needed. The food was good, but the selection was small.
Here are the not so 5 star qualities:
-I called twice with questions before we actually came in (two different days). Both times the phone was answered by a nameless man. Both times he seemed to be unable to hear what I was saying/was not very friendly- rather short. I even explained that we were first time customers and trying to get a lay of the land at Tap House but that did not seem to change his tune. I am not sure who you are dude, but you left me with a bad taste in my mouth before I even got there. You probably should brush up on phone etiquette or have someone else in charge of answering.
-I was under the impression that this was a made to order brunch but upon one of my phone calls found out that they were testing out the buffet style for the first time this past weekend. Cool, I actually prefer buffet brunch. The food was good but the selection was very, very small. The whole brunch fit on two rectangular party tables. I personally enjoy a large selection of food so I can have a little of everything. On this buffet, I was having repeats.
-Music was way too loud. We were sitting right by a speaker but were having a lot of trouble hearing each other.
-I personally found the flat screens everywhere to be distracting while we were trying to visit but I get that it is the vibe of the place so that is just a personal preference.
Not sure if we will be back for brunch. I wouldn't say it was a bad experience but for a little more money we could go somewhere with a larger selection of food. As I said though, they were testing out the buffet so maybe they will have a bigger spread the next few times!
I pretty much give up on this place. I've been here a few times now so I can honestly say that I gave them enough time to adjust. Just terrible service here overall and the food isn't even great. Besides the good beer selection, I really don't see myself coming back here (if it were my choice) nor recommending this place for any type of gathering. I've been here for casual hangout with friends, a date and a big group event--meh! Maybe if you just want to watch sports and drink beer... if that's the case I recommend paying for I POUR IT so you don't have to wait forever to get a refill. Other than that, sports fanatics won't be disappointed with the number of TV's all over the venue.
Review Source:So I had a groupon and had to try this place....it looks like a really nice place, live music...but thats where the positives end. My fried chicken I ordered was terrible...I don't think they have a deep fryer, so they cook it in a skillet....but they leave it on one side too long and it becomes hard. Very little batter on the chicken....was kinda dry, probably the worst chicken i've ever been served. I ordered Blue Moon...my fav..but they came back and said they were all out! This place is know for its been..how can you be out??
Well, I was excited about my sides with my crappy chicken..really wanted the garlic mashed potatoes...but they came back and said they were out...WOW! So I had fries and that was honestly the only edible part of my meal...threw most of it out. My friend had the chicken sandwich and ate half of it....HORRIBLE food...no care in cooking at this place. The servers were not attentive and took us a while to even order! The wait to get a table was long...but I saw many empty tables...why did we wait over 30mins? I had to go and ask just to make sure they did not forget about us....I will never go back here again...they are advertising groupons a lot cause its the only way to get people to come in and eat...AVOID!!
A friend an I were in Huntington Beach for the night, looking for a place to watch a UFC card. Â I'll cover the strange first and finish on the good, because Tap House was a good find.
So, bathroom attendant's. Â Is that just a So. Cal. thing? Â Guy thrust some towels in my face as I was putting soap on my hands and was shocked that I was going to, "scrub down like a surgeon." Â I then got a reminder on my way out to remember him - sorry, I don't have any cash on me other than these 10 $1's.
I've been to a lot of bars for fight cards and this one was great. Â I liked the $20 minimum instead of a cover charge. Â As for viewing - there isn't a bad seat in the place, flat-screen's (with sharp image) are all over the walls and ceiling that the open floor plan services well. Â I can't comment on the food as I just went with a salad but the hefeweizen was cold and refreshing after a hot day on I-5 and slinging boxes. Â I didn't check out their self pour system as I know what I want when I'm drinking but it seems like a cool idea for someone looking to pour their own sampling. Â The service was top notch and did great when more people started to come in towards the main fights on the card.
The next time I'm in town I'll have to return to check out what their kitchen can do.
I have been here a couple times and they have a great selection of beer including one of my favorites from Louisiana "Abita Purple Haze". Â The food is OK, nothing too special but at least it's not junky dive bar food. Â I would have given a higher star but the last time we were there we ordered the coconut shrimp and the sweet dipping sauce they were supposed to serve us was replaced by super spicy habanero sauce that was serious burn your mouth hot, and I love spicy too. Â
We ended up wasting two of the shrimps though and we told the waitress about it and she replaced the sauce but not the shrimp which I would have thought would have been the right thing to do.
I would go back, but if anyone from Tap House reads this then they should know for future situations when customers get the wrong items with their meal and it causes them to waste some of the meal then it should be replaced.
I saw a report about this bar on KTLA a while back and filed it away in the back of my brain until I knew I was going to be in the area. Â This place was pretty cool. Â LOVED the iTap system (can't remember what it's actually called...). Â OH! Â I Pour It, maybe? Â Anyways, that was really cool, and the price couldn't have been better. Â Seriously. Â Got to try 6 different beers for the price of 2 at any other bar.
My only complaint was that it was realllllllly loud. Â There was live music (which was good) but a group of us went here for a friend's going away party, so it was too loud to talk. Â However, they had really nice outdoor seating (with bad-ass fire pits!) that turned out to be quieter. Â And I got us 10% off the bill for checking in on Yelp!
If you're in the area, you should definitely check it out.
You know, this place got beat up so bad when it first opened that it just wasn't right. Â Even though I was one of those folks who had seen the "opening soon" signs forever, I waited until the place had a chance to settle down before my first visit. Â All I can say is that each time I have come to Tap House, I have received great service from the bartenders, servers and managers alike. Â Sure, the place is a concrete bunker and no, I will not be anywhere near it during MMA festivals. Â But otherwise, this place does a great job and if you haven't been to the made-to-order Sunday brunch then you are missing something really good!
Review Source:This place was crap. Servers came up with a routine greeting and no enthusiasm. Â My order came out wrong and the server just didn't care and took the plate away then took their sweet old time to get my food out again correctly. Not to add the food was barely warm when it came out and if I was not so hungry that I just wanted to eat I would have just asked for my check and left.
Review Source:Having been our first time here I have to say this place is amazing! Great food to excellent service from our server Princess Jasmine. I would highly recommend this place for a good happy hour / outing/ dinner. Patio is pretty chill.
Parking is accessible. Prices are reasonable.
Trust me you won't be disappointed.
Two thumbs up!!!!!
I visited Tap House last night for the first time -- a group of us were there for birthday drinks. Â While I can't comment on food (we ate dinner elsewhere), I thought their beer selection was great. Â Heck, they had my favorite, Brother Thelonious, on tap! Â Woohoo! Â
Our server, Jasmine, was super friendly and seemed to know her beer. Â She made some good recommendations.
I've read some of the reviews on the decor of Tap House. Â Having visited numerous breweries, I noted that Tap House seems to be going for that "industrial small brewery" feel. Â (To note: they do not brew.) Â If you're accustomed to being impressed by your drink and entertained by conversation while you nurse a cold one, I think you'll enjoy the atmosphere. Â
Two other things to note:
1. Â They seem to serve most beer, even those with high alcohol content, in pints. Â Apparently beer with particularly low alcohol content is served in mugs.
2. Â I just so happened to have a LivingSocial coupon for Tap House, which could be used on food and alcohol alike (keep doing that, Tap House, and I'll DEFINITELY come back ... and bring friends...). Â Some establishments seem to treat patrons differently when they know a coupon is involved. Â It was so refreshing to not feel that at Tap House.
Thanks, Tap House -- bottoms up!
I'll be upfront and state I haven't had a chance to try the food on my first visit. Â How could I? Â I didn't realize when I walked in it just so happened to be the Ultimate Arm Wrestling League championship night....no joke....so they had a limited menu and no real place to sit. Â It was more or less standing room only unless you were lucky to get there early enough to belly up to the U-shaped bar as some of the remaining tables that were left due to the arm-wrestling 'stage'.
I'll go back another time because I do like the idea that there is a Yelp check-in offer of 10% that I'll save for for another time when I can actually sit.
That being said, I'm not sure if my review is 100% fair or not. Â I'm only commenting on my single 'experience', but I promise I will go back and give it another try.
Pro's:
- Lot's of beers on tap. Â I think it's safe to say they have a minimum of 60, maybe more and fairly priced.
- Yelp check in offer.
- Tons of flat screen TV's. Â Everywhere..
- Dance floor and DJ. (After the arm wrestling, I was happy the DJ was spinning some classic dance tune's).
- 'Some' staff. Â Some of the staff I dealt with seemed pleasant and happy enough.
Con's
- Way too loud. Â For a place this size there really was no reason to have the speakers cranked to 11 when it wasn't warranted. Â When you have to yell at the bartender and they have to yell back just to hear your order...that's wrong. Â Now imagine that for 3 hours.
- 'Some' staff. Â Just as there was some helpful staff, there seemed to be others that just didn't care one way or another.
- Decor...or lack thereof. Â This place just screams sterile Frat-house and muscle-head minimalist. Â I guess they are going for a UFC theme and cater to a UFC demo? Â Think of walking in and wanting to drink beer at a GNC or 24 Hour Fitness. Â Boring.
- Towel dispensers in men's restroom...empty...both of them.
???
- Granted it was 'Ultimate Arm Wrestling' championship night, but I never saw so many generic 'gym boy', Caucasian, Spike TV watching, baggy pants & tank top wearing, short hair look a-likes on parade in my life. Â As a white guy myself whose been known to throw around some weight in my time, even I was even feeling a little weirded out.
Bottom line....seems like a fine place to get your beer on with the guys for a afternoon of male bonding and testosterone infusion, something we guys all need at times. Â But date night with your lady, this place is NOT...unless she's into roller derby and full contact boxing herself.
Great concept, bad execution. Â
Tap House has a system where you put on a "drinking" bracelet and pour your own beer.  Unfortunately, the system doesn't work very well because the beer that comes out of the "pour-your-own-beer" sucks!  The beer comes out warm with lots of head, which is a terrible combination, but one that goes hand in hand (pun intended).  The outdoor pulleys are even worse so don't even give yourself a pint  outside.  What's worse is that they gave us plastic bud light cups to pour our beer in...the beer snob in me says FAIL! Â
If you come here, order the beers from the menu instead, the beers behind the bar seem to be in better shape. Â Also, after a certain time (9pm), this becomes a real "bro" bar. Â Don't get me wrong, the crowd doesn't look dangerous, but just imagine entering a frat house...minus the hot women. Â
3 stars.
Update:
Ok, we decided to go back to the Tap House for another try, now that the "newness" has died down, in the hopes that they got everything on track. Honestly, the owner's VERY GENEROUS offer for 25% off to come try it again was just the push we needed, because we really weren't going back.
What a completely different experience we had!! All the food was fantastic. The waitress couldn't have been more pleasant, and we truly enjoyed our visit! So much so, that we've been back 3 times since!! There has not been one thing we have been unhappy with. We are so glad we gave it another chance, because we really wanted to have a local place to frequent. Everything that has gone in this building has failed, but I think they've got the right idea this time and HOPE that they will be around for a long time, and hope they keep up serving the quality of food they have settled in to!!
Oh, and the wrist bracelets for pour your own beer....LOVE IT!!!
Thank you for giving us a reason to go back!!!
The beer is awesome. When I came in it was pretty great. Sat down at the bar and ordered a few drinks with my friends. They have a lot of beers on tap, and I was interested in exploring the menu. Then I got told to be quiet. Apparently when I got there it was "Tuesday night comedy" or some bullshit. The comedy was lame and depressing. There were two rows of chairs with people not drinking, getting offended that I talked through the "comedy show" with my buddies. What kind of bar invites people to come and see a FREE comedy show and not drink any beer? There was another guy making a scene because he kept heckling the comics, I wanted to applaud that man.
I understand the show, and I understand why it's there, but why can't I talk to my friends at the bar and swill some great beer while you are doing your loud ass, depressing comedy routine? I wanted to leave after my second beer. Had to drink the third one outside, because "someone has to hear the show". It's a bar, if you can't stand loud ass people drinking then why come?
Not impressed with Tuesday nights there. I'll go another night(in a few years) and see if the bartender sticks up for me the next time.
So my buddy tells me he read a flyer for beer tasting, $10 gets you 10 beers (small half a pint mini mugs)
We get there at 230pm and get our 10 tickets to taste beers and are told to be sure to use our tickets all up before 4pm.
No problem right?
Wrong! It takes 30 minutes just to get the beer menu, So it's now 3pm and we haven't tried a single beer yet.
So between 3-330 we are able to get 5 shots of beer. After that we did not see our server until 4pm. And of course she says "sorry we are done with the beer tasting now"
worst part is 10 minutes later, the tables around us are still being served samples!!
That takes the cake. WORST SERVICE EVER and it wasn't even that busy.
to top it off they were having a contest for the best beer bottle design, so we design one and they didn t even collect our paper! We just hear them announce a winner without ever asking for our design, but they came by to steal our pens so other tables could enter.
sucks because the beers were good.
PRO: Good beers, lots of TVs (almost any sports bar has this)
CONS: Worst service I've ever had at any sports bar
Probably won't come back
Probably won't ever attend an OC weekly event ever again either
Me and my girlfriend arrived around 9PM on a Saturday night. Â We sat at the bar. Â Drinks only.
PROS:
+Lots of great beers on tap, probably 70+ craft beers in house. Â They carry LOTS of local crafts like Bootlegers, The Bruery, Noble Ale, Hangar 24, Taps, etc. Â They also have lots of San Diego crafts Green Flash, Stone, Port Brewing, Lost Abbey, & Ballast Point. Â Also others like Dog Fish Head, Eureka & North Coast. Â Not too shabby.
+Beers are decently priced about $7 a pint. Â Check in w/ yelp and get an extra 10% off.
+Full bar
+TV's all over the place. Â
+They have self-pouring stations where you buy a wrist-band and you can pour your own drink at designated stations outside the bar. Â
CONS:
-I couldn't put my finger on it but the environment is ... odd. Â I felt like there were a few weirdos/creepers at the bar. Â As such, the environment at night didn't feel friendly. Â I think this is attributable to the club transition. Â My girlfriend commented, "I think this place is OK to come during the afternoon or if you are having an early dinner."
TIPS:
- I can't tell if they are going for a bar, club scene, or a Gastropub/sports bar (I'm not trying to knock managements business style just to be clear). Â Apparently at night the place turns into a club w/ bouncers & DJ's. I was looking forward to having another beer at the bar, but around 10PM the dance-floor was opening up so we closed our tab out. Â I saw a few people ordering burgers too, and they looked pretty good, so I dunno.
A UFC themed bar in Huntington Beach?? It seems like a marriage made in mediocre heaven. Â It is.
If you're a guy who likes watching hella sports on TV, drinking draft beers and hearing the echoes of similar convos that other aspiring and former cagefighters are having you found it.
If you're a chick who is OK with potentially being raped by one of these guys, in fairness, the dudes there do workout, so at least the daterape would be aesthetically pleasing.
The place does have a parking lot and the tap pass where you can pour your own is a cool idea. The bar food is relatively inexpensive, but the quality matches. Nobody on the staff seemed that happy to be there, and they all looked silly in their Tapout UFC shirts.
I am not a fan of this genre. I like drinking, I like sports bars; I think the UFC is sad.
Good beer, good staff and a ton of t.v.'s! Â I was super stoked when Tap House first opened, I thought this was going to be my new go-to spot, but unfortunately, I haven't really been super impressed. Â Sure, they have a good beer selection, the staff is beyond friendly and fun, but the food is really pretty sub-par. Â I have been there for food 3 times and each time I have ordered pizza. Â All three times, the crust was completely soggy(like wet...literally) and the top of the pizza was over cooked. Â I am not sure if its the ovens or the chefs, but it's not that hard to make a simple pizza! Â As much as I REALLY want to love this place, I am constantly disappointed. Â
I definitely recommend  the Tap House as the place to go if you're looking to grab a drink, hang out and catch a sporting event...but if you're looking for a place to grab some food, I would head elsewhere.
I've been here a couple times - but never experienced the whole "club" situation i've read in reviews - so I can't comment on that.
Happy Hour: 4-7, M-F. Â $3 PBR. $2BL. $3 Wine (barefoot). Half off appetizers. Â Those deals will make me come back for sure.
I will say that the lights last time I was there were doing some bizarre, semi on, - semi off, - blinking thing (seizure alert!) and it was so distracting that it actually made me want to leave.
They have fire pits outside which makes a cool hangout if you are patio hang out kinda person.
DON'T COME HERE IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GOOD CRAFT BEER JOINT!!!!
This place is better suited as a half club for douche bags, and half sports bar for HB bros.
If they had any clue about beer, and ran the place as a beer/sports joint it could have been great, but there beer selection is basically the same as Vons.
