One of my favorite bars! Ive been coming here for a long time. In fact, it was one of the first bars I went to when I turned 21, no place has ever made me feel so welcome.
Everyone is friendly, no matter your age or style. They have a delicious selection of bottled and tap beers, and their cocktails are to die for. They grow their own fresh herbs in the patio area, making for the freshest, hands down best mojito Ive ever had! If youre looking for a chill place to enjoy a drink with friends, skip the rest and come straight here!
I've been a long time customer of the Tap, and I have to say, I love this little bar. Mikey is friendly as hell, and a great (!!) bartender, with fun and innovative drinks; the beer is always good, there's stuff for the coors light guys (you know who you are) and for more discriminating beer drinkers (you know who YOU are)... Prices are more than fair, and the pours are always generous. The back patio rocks, whether it's hot or cold outside.. Trees for when it's hot, a fireplace and space heaters for when it's cold. The inside is non-smoking, which is great for a lot of people. Make sure you tell them you're a SJ Sharks fan! :)
Review Source:Cool little dive bar. Â The owner Mike always greets me by name and knows what I like to drink. Â The patio is really cool during the summer. Â I ride my motorcycle down to this place sometimes on a Saturday for a mini-pitcher of Pabst and friendly conversation.
There is usually a familiar face to talk to here.
Don't have a bad thing to say about this place at all. Â Go get a beer.
I Stopped in for a cold beer after playing golf in Carson City. ...good things come in small packages. Friendly bartender, impressive selection of beers and a comfortable place to relax. Several new flat screens showing baseball games and the friendly local patrons made this a for sure stop next time I play golf.
Review Source:Great bar to visit in Carson, especially if you are a hockey and/or Vikings fan. The owner, Mike, has gone out of his way to make sure everyone feels at home here. The beer & liquor selections are awesome and they have drink specials that are really fun. The patio is especially excellent, even in the wintertime!
Review Source:Gotta agree with the rest of the reviews...Great little tavern. Awesome beer choices, friendly bar, outside seating is so comfortable you don't want to leave. Every time I've been in there, the crowd along with the bar tenders are as friendly as they come...The owner has been a bar tender for a long time and knows what people want: a great bar tender, good drinks, nice atmosphere and a reason to come back. Tap Shack has it all...
Review Source:Local, friendly, relaxing, with a great beer selection. Â
Just off the main drag on quiet Rice Street sits the Tap Shack. Â Shaded by big trees, bordered by a park and houses, the place has more of a residential feel. Â Many of the patrons are quite loyal, and it seems that everyone knows each other. Â I'm almost always greeted by my first name upon entering, and the bartender is already reaching for a glass, asking me what I'm drinking. Â Such a huge difference to most places where you need to squeeze into the bar area and stand for a few minutes to get someone's attention! Â
The beer choices have been carefully selected, giving the discriminating drinker just what they're looking for. Â Thick chocolaty stouts, hoppy IPAs, clean pilsners, summery wheat beers...there's something for every season and every taste. Â The choices rotate throughout the year as well. Â Creative mixed drinks are available, and sometimes even incorporate herbs from the garden.
The inside bar area is non-smoking which is great! Â (smoking is allowed on the patio area.) Â Noise levels are generally pretty low, so it's easy to have a conversation without shouting. Â A lot of interesting memorabilia covers the walls, giving the place some great personality. Â During the fair weather, and especially the summer, the patio is a great place to sit back under the trees and umbrellas and sip your drink. Â The bartender frequently visits you to make sure your glass is always full. Â The perfect end of the work week decompression!
There is a digital jukebox mounted on the wall with plenty of song selections, and occasionally there is even live acoustic music. Â The Tap Shack is not a place you'd specifically go to dance, but you will see some dancing late Friday and Saturday nights after people are loosened up. Â Two flat screen TVs are mounted above the bar for the sports fans.
I've heard someone throw around the phrase "Tap Shack Family". Â So if you show up, and you've never been before, you may get the "who is this person?" look. Â But don't worry. Â Everyone is real friendly, and it won't be long before you're in the conversation and one of the gang.
The Tap Shack is an off-the-beaten-path sort of place, a neighborhood bar where the locals congregate to chat, watch some sports, and tip back a few in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Shack has as many beers on tap as there are seats at the bar: ten. Â There's also a great selection of liquors that Mike and his well trained staff will pour. Â For your entertainment, the Shack has a dart board, juke box, and karaoke machine. Â More recently, local bluegrass bands have played on weeknights; Mike expects this to continue.
The Shack is a no-smoking establishment, but smoking is permitted on the large and well-apportioned patio.
Comfortable, well-stocked, and friendly.
Five stars.
