I have such fond memories of eating at los comales after concerts or bars  late at night after i was drunk and needed something hot and greasy to snack on, that said ,unless you meet the above mentioned criteria i would skip this joint. Yes it is affordable but so is crack and you wouldn't smoke  that just because its cheap would u? there are many better taquerias than this I really don't see the big deal the one dish I would recommend here is the Carne en su jugo it's like a cousin  to pozole with beef beans onion bacon cilantro in a broth  the one thing they do right at this place
Review Source:A nice local gem of sorts, with freshly prepared and tasty Mexican dishes. Â This place also has table service combined with a drive through window - somewhat unique. Â I had a tasty pork and onion torta for $5.99 and a nice beef tripe soft taco with cilantro, for just $1.49. Â My colleague had soft steak tacos with cheese and sour cream added. Â Clean interior. Â The servings are slightly smallish, but more than made up for in freshness and quality. Â Everyone there at the time, except us, was Hispanic (good sign!). Â Will be back for sure. Â Cash only.
Review Source:$1.40 for a taco? Â count me in.....this little place just south of Chicago Ave was reccomended by some friends, so in the area we thought we would give it a shot......
nothing fancy, just a basic taco joint....
ordering 2 carne asada and 2 al pastor tacos, we were asked if we want everything on them....whats everything we ask.... * onions and cilantro* Â ,,,,,, yah everything :-)
perfectly soft corn tortillas loaded with grilled chopped steak, very tender and went well with the salsa verde...
the al pastor came the same way, loaded with meat  :-)  good on its own but the red salsa kicked it up a bit
served with thin sliced pickled carrots and grilled green onions...a nice touch...
2 people....4 tacos....2 drinks and under $8.00 Â .... i like that kind of deal.....i wish i lived closer but maybe now i have more reasons to get on over to East Chicago....maybe even check out the new Strack an Van Tils just up the street,,,,i will be back
