Leonardo's Pizzeria

Leonardo's used to be located in the Black Oak section of Gary and when I was a little kid we used to walk 2 blocks every Saturday for a pizza and beef sandwiches.  That was the only pizza I knew and it was so wonderful.  Then they closed up and I thought they were gone forever..............

Fast forward years later.   About 10 years ago I moved to east Chicago and one day driving, happened to see it. I didn't know if it were the same one until I walked inside.  That same smell...UMMM!!  I had to get a pizza!  And let me say---it was FABULOUS!!  They never changed the recipe and it is unique to other pizzas.  It's not drowned in pizza sauce, for one.  It's a little greasy, but who cares?  I have never had an undercooked pizza or a burnt one.  And for an extra large pizza, you get 2 free liters of pop.  At least once a month, my son and I drive out there and pick up cheese, sausage, and mushroom pizza.  

Out of every pizza I have had, this is number one---in my opinion!

The pizza here reminds me of fake pizza. Sometimes they burn it and sometimes it's not even cooked all the way through. When they actually get it right it's really good. They use four seasons and it aint salt and pepper and hotsauce and ketchup. Prices are okay
