Leonardo's used to be located in the Black Oak section of Gary and when I was a little kid we used to walk 2 blocks every Saturday for a pizza and beef sandwiches. Â That was the only pizza I knew and it was so wonderful. Â Then they closed up and I thought they were gone forever..............
Fast forward years later. Â About 10 years ago I moved to east Chicago and one day driving, happened to see it. I didn't know if it were the same one until I walked inside. Â That same smell...UMMM!! Â I had to get a pizza! Â And let me say---it was FABULOUS!! Â They never changed the recipe and it is unique to other pizzas. Â It's not drowned in pizza sauce, for one. Â It's a little greasy, but who cares? Â I have never had an undercooked pizza or a burnt one. Â And for an extra large pizza, you get 2 free liters of pop. Â At least once a month, my son and I drive out there and pick up cheese, sausage, and mushroom pizza. Â
Out of every pizza I have had, this is number one---in my opinion!
